The half off deals are on rack rate. It's the norm in the hotel industry to offer half off deals - but in the very fine print it almost always says "off rack rate prices." Not a scam. Frustrating though!

I completely understand. Since it didn't say, "Internet only," or anything along that line, I thought 237 WAS the rack rate.

Have to add that I had a rough experience with our Thanksgiving trip. I got a good rate of 189 for teachers. Friend called and got 129. I called back asking about that and was told, "Well, I have a 159." I never question, but this time I did and said, "No. My friend got 129." Low and behold, all of a sudden I got 129. Just rubbed me the wrong way then, and I'm sure that is coloring my view now.

We have the Swan standard room booked at a teacher rate for 2010 = not the best rate we have seen with tax, resort fee and room it is about $250 per night for Easter weeks , prime time to visit.

Swan rooms are 340 sq ft.
Dolphin rooms are 360 sq ft.

We had no problem fitting a twin size areo bed in the Dolphin room.
We have teen DS & teen DD who do not sleep together.

Can we fit a twin aero bed in the Swan standard room ?
Where would you place it ?

Thanks!

We have reservations at the Dolphin Oct 12-18th...$189 per night.

I was able to get an upgrade to a resort view using the ALL EARS e-mail code.

What is the difference between a standard room and a resort view room?

Also...I am a Starwoods member...is it possible to get another upgrade at checkin? Or will that not work since I already have an upgrade through ALL EARS?

And what are the chances that the room rates will go down for this time period?

Thanks,
Robin

As far as the size of the rooms, they seemed identical to me. The Resort View room had a small balcony.

I totally agree Singing Mom! It wasn't even the view that was so bad, it was the noise! Those big trucks that go beep beep beep when in reverse were all over by 6am!

I'm still wondering what you did to tick off the front desk at check in to cause them to put you in that room. :lmao::lmao::rotfl::lmao::lmao:
Just kidding, my friend! :goodvibes

I am an allears email subscriber, and I did not see this code. Staying at the dolphin in july, and have a standard view booked. This code would be very helpful. When did you get it? Lots of restrictions? Thanks for your help. Cant believe i missed this. :confused3

Thanks! I am so glad we were able to get the upgrade:yay:

Are you able to make special requests at the Dolphin as far as what floor you're on or where you're located? And if so what would you recommend?

How long have you subscribed to the e-mail's? It was in an "Ears the Deal" e-mail back in January but I called last week and they still applied the code for me. It said based on availability and blackout dates apply...I was kind of surprised it worked.

Are you a Starwoods member? I think you can get an upgrade that way also.

I signed up around March when we decided to go to Disney again this year. So that makes sense why I missed it. I am a starwoods member, but they dont upgrade until check-in I think. I was hoping for the code to guarantee I wouldn't get stuck with the view of the trucks. lol. Oh well, maybe all-ears will put out another code before I leave.

No problem at all - we have a twin Aero and have used it at both the Swan and Dolphin. We had a balcony at the Swan and placed the bed right in front of the sliding door. I think we moved the chair and lamp a bit but it wasn't tight at all.

I stay at the Swan for the most part. If me, at the Dolphin, I would ask for a high-up floor (better views) and either a resort of Boardwalk view.

Hmm...thanks. Maybe I should call. The website says nothing about a deadline, but then again, the rate comes up in the regular room search, not as a "special promo" or anything like that. Maybe it will still be available after June 3rd, but do I chance it?! :scared1:

Don't take the chance. Go ahead and book it. If you cancel more than 72 hours prior to arrival you loose only one night's fee. I know that is a lot of money, but it could be worse. How much are you saving by booking this deal? That is what would make me book the deal?

And a HUGE CONGRATS on your trip!!!!!

Thanks for the suggestion! Is the Boardwalk view an upgrade from the resort view?

What is it about the Swan that you stay there rather than the Dolphin?

Has anybody had luck booking the Dolphin with 50% through SPG? It said it was limited, but since I'm looking at June 2010 I think I'm early enough. Can I use two certificates to get 9 nights (each one is for 5 nights)? Just want to know my chances before calling. Thanks!

I haven't heard of this offer before...do you need a lot of Starwood points? How can you book for 50% off?

You use 1000 points for 5 nights at 50% off rack rates. Problem turned out to be rack was 410 per night when I found 237 through their site. Very disappointed.

Thanks, Michelle!:woohoo:

Even with the 4/3 "deal" I would save a whopping $700 if I switched to the Swan (would buy tix from UT), so I guess I know the answer! I will book before the 3rd.
