Yes, how did we miss each other? You going to be there in April? :cool1:

Well, Dan - I guess my idea that we would just run into each other at the Swan didn't materialize! I was at Universal on Dec. 4 and 5, at Epcot and the Studios on Dec. 6, and at MVMCP on Dec. 7. I checked out Dec. 8 to cruise.

I will return for my almost-annual birthday trip in mid-April, and I hope to be there next December, too.

I wish I would have been following this thread more closely, I was there last week as well (not at S/D this time, at CSR). I would have loved to met up with some S/D fanantics!!!

I should have as well. Didn't stay at the Swolphin this trip but was next door at BWV after PCC 4.0. Two of the nights post-cruise we went to the bar at Il Mullino for dinner. It would have been nice to meed some of the regulars on this thread.

My late Nov/early Dec stay at Dolphin was cancelled when work got in the way. :( So sorry I didn't get to meet up with Ray & Dan. Maybe next time.

I wasn't terribly upset though as we have our family Christmas this year at Dolphin and BCV! We fly to Orlando tomorrow morning and will be there through Christmas day! :cloud9:

Wishing you all a wonderful Holiday! :goodvibes

Ray - glad to hear Swan is as wonderful as ever. Do you have any pics to share of Nancy, Dan & yourself?

I should have taken one with Nancy, but I didn't want to interrupt her since she was with friends. Well...I did interrupt her, but I was so happy to see her again.

I have been posting photos of each one of my days on my Facebook page and with Dan in them, too.

Ray, I was very happy to see you, and you did NOT interrupt me! :) However, I usually try to avoid cameras whenever possible. :teeth:

Have a fabulous time Laura--sure wish we could have made it for this event. :sad2:

I got my Swan refund! It only took 10 days. Now the long wait begins for our trip to the Dolphin!

I probably shouldn't contribute to all the speculation about FastPass Plus (or whatever it's going to be called), but I'm wondering if the Swan/Dolphin will be included if they aren't booked as a package on the WDW website? So far the tests have been with DME passengers only. Time will tell I guess...

Hi All!

It's been about a year and a half since I've been on this board/thread, but glad to see many of the same names are still posting on it! :)

For my Christmas (and birthday) present my brother, sister-in-law, and nieces invited me to Disney World again so it looks like its about time for me to start researching and prepping for a June/July trip. :surfweb: Seeing that I have not started yet, have there been any major/minor changes at the S/D over the last year or so?

We stayed in an Executive Suite in June of 2011 and loved the room and will definitely be looking into a Suite again. It looks like it will be 3 adults and 2 girls (6 & 3) and the possibility of my parent for part of the trip, although they would probably get a separate room. Seeing the we would need 2 rooms the suite was a better and considerable cheaper option for us last time. Any other suggestions for any other resorts we may want to look into.

We arrive January 8. Any locals care to recommend what type of clothes to pack? We usually visit at the end of June!

Hey SingingMom!

That was strange, I just installed the DISBoard app and subscribed to this thead less than 5 minutes ago, and up popped my first notification!

I'm sure locals will be far more useful, but if I remember correctly, when visiting my grandparents in Florida in the 90's, temps can very greatly! I'd keep a close eye on the 10 day forecasts and alter what you bring based on that. If I remember believe the highs are usually in the high 60s low 70s and the lows dip into the mid to high 40s. Instead of wearing one heavy jacket on your way down to WDW, you may want to layer 2 or 3 items that you can use during your visit. Also, I wouldn't go overboard with sweaters/ sweatshirts, because they can always be worn multiple times and be washed if needed.

I remember the one year, December/January, we went to WDW with my grandparents the daily temps were in the 30s and cars were driving around Florida with snow on the bumpers. Even though the weather stunk the one plus was that we were able to get on rides much quicker.

Welcome back, Mike. I can't think of any major changes, maybe others will think of some. Just as nice as always though.

Have a great trip. Check the weather trend a day or two before you leave. When I was there a couple weeks ago, unseasonably warm, upper 70's, lower 80's daytime, lower 60's, upper 50's night. But once the sun sets, even those temps are cool. If seasonable, you will need at least a light jacket at night. Possibly coats, gloves and hats. Check before you leave for the current trend.

For April, if I go, I think it will be like the 8th to the 15th.

Hi Mike! Nice to see you!

Thanks, Mike and Dan, for the suggestions. I am really thrown with a January vacation to a warmer climate! We have done "winter" trips but they included winter activities, so I knew what to bring.

Again. DH, in his ultimate wisdom (@@) responds with. "We aren't going to a third world country. They have STORES!" One of these days, I am packing NOTHING, so I can start with a brand new wardrobe from one of those non-third-world stores......... (I'll show HIM! LOLOLOL )

I just got off the phone checking on the new Disney Visa discount for spring. I priced out a room at Beach Club Resort and a studio in the Villas with six day PH. I will save over $600 keeping my AAA Dolphin ressie, with UT 6 day PH, and private car to and from MCO. Not to mention, the pool bars are so much better than any of the Disney resorts. How can you not love the Swan/Dolphin? My conversion may just be complete.

I just remembered that there was discussion about a refurb at the grotto pool. Does anyone remember when that is supposed to take place?

We are back from our best Christmas trip ever!! Had a wonderful 6 night stay at the Dolphin! :cloud9: As usual, the staff was amazing; our room in great shape! We had a lovely (double bed) balcony room on the 8th floor in West wing, with a great view of ToT - Room 8127. Short walk to elevator, yet we were in a small corridor with very little foot traffic! :thumbsup2

Weather was crazy!! Some days 80; most in high 60's/low 70's. Some mornings in the 30s!!! :scared1: (most were in the 40s/50's though)

Singing Mom, all I can say is bring every season of clothes -- layers work best, but if you plan to be at the parks late into the night, make sure you have a good coat/jacket, hat & gloves! The wind was absolutely brutal several of our evenings and when they're talking "wind chill" in Florida, you know it's cold!! (a disadvantage to living in the south - I don't own much in the way of cold-weather clothing!)

I always check channel 9's weather forecast the day before we leave. I figure they are my best chance for packing correctly! http://www.wftv.com/s/weather/fiveday/
