All I investigated the 7th floor it is the same as the 15 th can't post pictures till I'm home.

Seeing fireworks out my window in the distance(15th floor facing the swan). It's started about 9:30. Where are they from?

I heard them too but can't see any out our windows. Could be at MK - can actually hear them again just now. Didn't look too carefully, cause they were there and I caught the tail end.

Spent the day at IoA - it was wonderful. Got to ride the Harry Potter -Forbidden Journey ride, amazingly our wait was not that long.

It wasn't MK. Wishes was at 10 last night. Plus wrong direction. This was facing the Swan.

On a different note our "reaort" view upgrade is awesome. Love looking out at the boardwalk and world showcase. We have a great view of illuminations.

We are at the Dolphin also right now - great view looking out towards the Swan and Boardwalk with a view of Studios!

It might have been Fantasmic. You'd definitely be facing the right direction. And there was a show at 9pm last night, so what you saw could have been the fireworks that are part of the finale.

PS - So jealous of all of you who are there right now! How is the weather and how are the crowds?

We've seen the higher Fantasmic fireworks from The Dolphin before, could have been that. We also saw & heard fireworks once after midnight & I was told it was a Fantasmic rehearsal!

Yes, from the Dolphin, I am quite certain it would have been Fantasmic.

I have seen the MK firewords many times from the Swan.

Cheers,

So which direction would the MK be in relation to the S&D? DHS is behind the main entrance side of the Swan, right?

Almost directly north, slightly west. On map here, S/D towards bottom right, MK, center top.

Easy to zoom in and explore.

Thanks, Dan!! I knew (in my head) the grand scheme of the entire WDW property and where the MK was in relation to them, but I didn't have a map in front of me to see the positioning of the S&D as far as which direction you'd have to look out windows to see MK fireworks. Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Anyone heard anything about the nurses/teachers discounts for next year? When do they normally extend those, or are there rumors that they won't be available for 2013?

We stayed at the Dolphin in April and really enjoyed our trip. Next year we are going to brave inviting the grandparents along (one at a time, both sets at once would be too much), but to stay here need some kind of discount.

Thanks,
Emily

As far as I know, the teacher/nurses discounts are standard discounts offered by the resort year-round, every year.

I just linked to the Dolphin reservations page through the Teacher discount link and dates are available for booking through November 2013, although the months of June and July are blocked. I plugged in random dates for April, August and October and came up with rates of $219, $149 and $169, respectively.

The good thing about these rates is that you can book a room now, and if a better rate comes along later on, you can re-book up to 5 days before your arrival without incurring any kind of penalty.

Good luck with your planning.

Checking out in the am, always sad to leave! We had the best time, and my dgs loved our view!

I just booked our first stay at the Dolphin! :cool1:
We are going there for 2 days before we check into ALK for a week and go to the parks.
Hoping to lounge at the pool and go over to the Boardwalk and maybe take a bus to downtown Disney in the evening. We have a friend that works for Sheraton and we got a great friends and family rate of $119 per night
Hoping choosing the dolphin over the swan was the right decsion? We like to be in the center of things and wanted to be closer to the pool and stuff. ;)
So excited!!!!!!:dance3:

Checking in next week. :cool1:

Just noticed that there was never a place to add children when I made the reservation. Do I need to let them know that we will have the kids staying with us also?

Sounds great! Enjoy.

Regarding closeness to the pool area, both resorts are essentially equidistant to/from there. Depending on room location in the Dolphin, you could be actually further, though minimal. Main difference between getting to the pool area is that with the Dolphin, you walk most of the distance inside the hotel, with the Swan, outside the hotel. See link.

In either case, walk is a minute or two.

Not Fantasmic. I could stand at the window look right and see HS and the Fantasic theater. This was straight ahead and it was a LONG firework show with VERY high fireworks. What is in that direction? Does Universal do a fireworks show, or Seaworld?

I could see them from the bed.

It was in the direction of Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort, the Waldorff and the Hilton.

Some pictures from my 7th floor exploration. (It was identical to the 15th floor)

And here is a picture of the front. We are on the 15th floor right above the shells. I put a bright pink bag in the window so we could see the room from the outside. A PERFECT upgrade!
