I saw something interesting this morning. They had a CM with an ipad helping people book FP+ at the bus stop. I was out there at 9 am. We didn't see him Friday when we were bussing to MK but we had breakfast ADRs and it was probably 7:15. So if they're doing it everyday maybe we were too early to see it. We're doing RD tomorrow at AK so I'll report back if I see him again.

That's a great idea. It saves time in the parks, and gives you something to do while you wait. Those Swan/Dolphin employees...what geniuses. :thumbsup2

I know there are classes that are available for this, but are there food booths set up as well? Is it like a mini Epcot F&W?

The food booths are up in the evening on the weekend and nibbles are from the Swan/Dolphin eateries with a variety of wines and beers. The Swan & Dolphin will put out a listing of items and seminars offered during the S/D Classic which will include times, etc.

I didn't see FP+ guy this morning. I was out there at 8:30 so maybe I was too early again or maybe it was something they don't do all the time.

I would be so extremely happy if they took FP+ reservations at the bus stop/boat launch. Or having a CM in the lobby in the morning. That would allow me to make FP+ for the evening park with my Hopper. PLEASE DO THIS!

I too will be there starting saturday and got invited to do FP+ because I had dining reservations only.

Once I linked park tickets I was able to make FP+ reservations.

Hello everyone, it's been 13 years since my one and only stay at the Swan, but I'm back and browsing for a Fall 2014 vacation for my husband and I.

Question - I can get an AARP rate of $181. (that includes taxes/fees) per night for a 6 night stay, end of September 2014, at the Dolphin. Is this a good rate? (It does not include the $20. resort fee per night).

I have been looking at the POFQ, but have learned that this resort is seldom included in special offers/discounts.

If I were looking at a very similar rate for the POFQ, POR, or Dolphin, is choosing the Dolphin a no-brainer?

Would appreciate opinions on that above rate. Thanks in advance! :)

I think $181 is a "decent" rate for the time you're going. The rooms are very comfortable and the location can't be beat! The Food & Wine Festival at Epcot will be in full swing during your stay so if you have any interest in that at all, that alone will make your rate a bargain! ;)

I would suggest booking it, then keeping your eyes out for any sales or lower rates that come along. If you find one, call the Swan/Dolphin 888# and they will adjust your rate! :thumbsup2

POFQ and POR are lovely Moderate resorts, but if the rates are similar, you're right -- it really is a no-brainer! ;)

Happy planning! :goodvibes

It would be a no-brainer for me. The Epcot location can't be beat, and I love the Swan/Dolphin. There are also a fairly large number of posters who feel that S/D aren't "Disney" enough. I don't agree with that, but if you're looking for hidden Mickey's everywhere, then I guess they aren't "Disney" enough. I agree with Laura and would keep checking the rates.

Thank you for your response, Lora.

I really like your plan and now just need to decide on firm dates
so that I can reserve the Dolphin. Figuring out the best place to stay for us and then how to get a good deal at Disney feels like gathering info for a
research paper. I'm having fun w/it though. :)

Thanks again!

Thanks, Patty!
We're a couple of fifty-somethings that will be celebrating our 30 year wedding anniversary at Disney. We did the character dining, etc. when our sons were young - took them 3x - stayed at the CBR, back when POR was Dixie Landings.

Stayed at the Swan w/my mom and sister's family about 13 years ago and remember loving it.

Definitely want to check out the F&W at Epcot - along w/all the new attractions at Epcot, so I'm thinking the location of the Dolphin would be very nice.

Again, I appreciate your input and opinions, so thank you. :)

This is my 100th post! :cool1:

Now I must get ready for work so that I can afford Disney this fall. :)

Patti, You're welcome. I also would consider booking the Dolphin now so that you have a room. You can continue to check for discounts at both the Swan/Dolphin, and WDW resorts. You can cancel the Dolphin up until five days ahead before you lose your deposit.
If this is a grown-up trip, I think the Dolphin will be perfect for you. IMHO, the pool and Cabana pool bar/restaurant are fantastic...better than anything on WDW property. The dining options are also great, and you have easy walking access to Epcot, DHS and the Boardwalk.
Have fun planning your trip.
