The New Site Is Up !!!

I have to agree with DisneyAl "Seems like more of a marketing site than info site." But I think they will add more and it should get better in the future.....I Hope

So far, it has all the information that was on the previous site, just orgnaized a bit differently. I was able to access maps, room layouts, points, Concierge, etc. I guess I didn't think it was that much different in the kind of information that was available, just the format.

Looks nicer, yet the same lol ... I found it easier to navigate... the things we use most are handy...

I also like the comparison chart.... You select the resorts you want to compare, then select which amenties are important to you and just shows you those... I am not sure if that was in the old site or not... I did have A LOT of slooooooooow pages when dealing witht he comparison chart... the "back to step 1" button never loaded....

A step in the right direction... but not far enough.

I can't really say that I am disappointed in the new site, as I wasn't really expecting a great deal of change. I guess by looking at how the site is structured there is a hint that one day we might have access to point tracking and true online reservations (right now the site only allows a reservation request). Why else would they require separate member logins and ids?

I did notice that the Member Guidebook section no longer exists. I also was expecting, in Disney's own words, "all new" virtual walkthroughs of the resorts. These are the same walkthroughs that have been available since the disneyworld.com site was redone.

All in all it's a baby's step in the right direction. They are going to have to do some optimizing of pages for what they currently have now. I suspect that they were pressured to get this out asap, and thus proper page optimization hasn't taken place.

The registration process was a little cumbersome in my mind as well. They could have made it clearer that if you were registered on any other disney or go.com site that you could use that username and password to register. It would have save me some typing.

I thought I wasn't seeing something....but, I guess I didn't miss a thing. I was very underwhelmed by what I saw on the site as well. I'm hoping it's one of those things where they add things in phases to bring the site to become a useful tool.

We'll see...
