dpndka - I have to agree with johnsonet. I've stayed at the GF and Poly equally, and love them both, but I'd have to give the nod to the GF in the service dept. Sorry to say that here on the Poly FAQ, but it's true! So, if the comparison will kill the vacation mood, you may want to rethink your options.

However, I will also say that the photos of the Poly don't do it justice. If you did not visit the resort while you were staying at the GF, you may be surprised at how beautiful it really is! That beauty has usually made up for any discrepancies in the service areas, for us.

Good luck with your decision, I'm sure you'll have a great vacation, whichever resort you choose!

Thanks for the pix and info on the refillable mugs! Glad to know that coffee and soda are both included and moreso that the drinks are available 24hrs a day! haha (Not that I'll be there at 3am or anything!)

I know this has been answered before but can't seem to find it! How long does it take to get from Tokelau to CC's and to the monorail and to the TTC?

Hi everyone!! I know I haven't posted on this thread in a while, but this is my 14,000th post! I thought for a moment or two about WHERE on the DIS I wanted to post this momentous post (LOL) and I decided to come here to this thread because the Resorts Board has always been my "home" here on the DIS, and this thread is my absolute favorite thread out of ALL the boards here.

Holy Smokes, I to your post count! I have been around the DIS since practically day one--at least a month or so after its inception--and I am nowhere near that high a count. Granted, I lost post counts in the crashes over the years, but WOWSER--I still wouldn't be close!

Congrats on your accomplishment and good to see you back Terry.

I had room only AAA Poly GV club too and switched to 4/3 Club and we saved quite a bit? Not sure why you did not. I believe value season starts July 21..which is our first day there.

I couldn't understand it either.....I called back and now we're staying longer for about $500 less. Woo hoo.....

So exciting!!!!

We just stayed in Tokelau last month, and I didn't time any of our walks, but I don't think it is over about 3 mins. to the GCH. We walked around the quiet pool, past Rarotonga and into the side door. Add another 2-3 mins. to get upstairs to the monorail. I had to call DD to ask about Captain Cook's - she says it was maybe 5 mins.? They walked through the GCH to get to Captain Cook's, if that helps. Sorry, we did not walk to the TTC.

Would you believe i have more than 12 inches of snow and these maroons wanted me to open the store today?
Not that it is busy here but 4 people walked through that snow to get here... Doesn't anyne know how to enjoy a snow day?

I'll ask but I'm pretty certain that it's just a primer or something like that. Different building have had a green roof and then back to brown from what we've all noticed.

Oh really? I think they should use a brown primer instead of getting all of our hopes up.

Question about the refillable mugs - what drink options are there? (Coffee, soda, juice, milk, tea?) and what hours can you get into CC to get your refills? AND....anyone have a pix of the mugs? Did they change yet for thsi year??

In comparison to GF, how's the service at Poly?

I've heard bad stories here and there about both and Ive had good service from both... Stick with the Poly..you have to at least experience it, right?

A quick DIS research report as promised:

mmmears, sorry but there was no Neutrogena sunscreen. I only saw a variety of Coppertone products. However, one was Water Babies Pure and Simple spf 50. Also Water Babies spf 75 (but not Pure and Simple). Maybe one of those would work. I'm allergic to most sunscreen but use a Water Babies facestick without problems.

I asked a guard about the cabana(s). He said there had been talk of doing it but nothing is going on right now.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something but I'll check back when I have more time.
