Congrats on 14,000 posts Seaspray!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :cheer2:

I love this thread! The information is great and everybody is so friendly! We are hoping to stay at the Poly for the first time next January!! :wizard:

Thanks so much:flower3:

johnsonet has always had the best photos!:thumbsup2
Momof2DisneyBoys....everyone is friendly here!

SeaSpray...congrats on the cruise!!! Sounds fabulous!!

Thanks for starting this great thread!

Congrats SeaSpray!

We are so happy you started this thread! Everyone here is friendly and so helpful! It's my favorite thread as well!!

Too bad about not going to WDW this yr, but the cruise plans so WONDERFUL!!

Hi SeaSpray :wave2: Great to hear from you... I've been wondering about you :flower3:

Thanks everyone!! :grouphug: :sunny:

 Hi Seaspray!
I was also able to rebook and take advantage of the 4/3 promo:cool1: Our original travel dates were 6/26-6/30. It seems like I'm never able to travel during the times when promotions are offered, but this time I got lucky:woohoo: We're rebooked for 6/26-7/3 for less money than our original trip-and it's for the same room category :).
I love all the pictures on this thread:lovestruc

That's great that you were able to change your dates AND save money!! I see that they've extended the 4/3 deal through August! That is very tempting! LOL I wonder if they'll eventually extend it through the fall. :scratchin

SEASPRAY - congrats on your landmark number of posts! :worship: And your upcoming cruise sounds amazing!!! 14 Days of pure luxury and pampering! Ahhhhhh! :lovestruc

Thanks for the pix and info on the refillable mugs! Glad to know that coffee and soda are both included and moreso that the drinks are available 24hrs a day! haha (Not that I'll be there at 3am or anything!) :confused3

THANKS!

Thanks, and you're welcome! :)

Holy Smokes, I :worship: to your post count! I have been around the DIS since practically day one--at least a month or so after its inception--and I am nowhere near that high a count. Granted, I lost post counts in the crashes over the years, but WOWSER--I still wouldn't be close!

Congrats on your accomplishment and good to see you back Terry.

LOL Tess!!! I think my post count is so large mainly from posting for years over on the Disney Cruise board. LOL For our 2006 cruise, many of us were posting daily, 2 years in advance of the cruise! :surfweb: :faint: LOL

Congrats Seaspray on your 14,000th post! And thank you for making it with us!!!!

I forgot to say earlier, congrats Seaspray, on your 14,000th post! All I can say is, WOW!

Thanks!!! :grouphug:

I am sure this has been addressed on the thread, but I have been unable to find it. Does the Poly have a hot tub? We are staying at the Poly for the first time in June, and I though I read somewhere that they are the only deluxe that doesn't have a hot tub.

Thanks.:goodvibes Sorry about your snow. What a winter it has been!

You're welcome.:goodvibes Thanks, we're having a great time.:thumbsup2 It was quite cool this am but feels great now.

I'm glad you've worked something out!n:surfweb: We've never used Garden Grocer but the service sounds wonderful.

Hi BCV!!! :wave2: I'm so glad that you're having a great time! Soak up some rays for me, please?? :sunny: We just got a foot of snow here :cold: And tell Mickey I said "Hi!" LOL

The Polynesian resort does not have a hot tub. As far as I know, what you read is correct that they're the only deluxe without one. We tend to go in the spring, summer, and fall, and have never missed having a hot tub, but I understand that many people like to have a hot tub at their resort.

Thank you SeaSpray. With all the resort has to offer I don't think I will miss it too much. ;)

I have heard (someone please correct me if I am wrong) that if you stay at the Poly you have access to the GF's Health Club and spa. And that there is a hot tub there you can use.

Does anyone know if it's free (like the exercise equipment) or if there is a fee attached (like the spa treatments)? This would be good to know in case someone needs it for their neck or back...:)

Use of the fitness center is free to guests of the Polynesian and GF. Have fun!

:cool1: just had to say I did it LOL I booked my room only ressie today for 1/31-2/7 at the Poly! I am so excited- it is just to far away now LOL I can't wait :cool1:

WOW I'm surprised they let you book already. I booked our Dec 09 trip in Aug 08! :rotfl2: I waited till the first day they'd "allow" me to book it! haha So my wait has been much longer than you'll have to wait! I booked in Aug and still have 9 mos to wait! LOL

Hi

I thought I read somewhere that Poly offers jogging strollers, on a first come first serve basis. Is this correct? Has anyone seen these strollers and are they like the disney rental strollers? My daughter is 4 and doesn't ride in a stroller now, but I think all the walking in the park might test our limits..What do most with children that age think? The other consideration is that we're a monorail ride away, so is it really necessary? Thx...

I'd be interested in this as well. BUT another option is to go to the budget boards and get in on a stroller swap! I'm doing the Royal Carriage swap and it costs just $10 for the entire stay for a double stroller! woohoo!

A hottub suer isnt a deal breaker but i did enjoy it at the GF. Once we were coming back from MK on the boats and it started to rain heavy...with wind pushing the rain sideways ...we were soaked and very cold.... we got off the boat and as we passed the pool we saw the hottub with its magically alluring steam drifting skywards...well we were very cold and couldnt resist. we had shorts on so we took off everything else and ahhhhh just relaxed for a while and warmed up.

You know, we had stayed at the Poly for years before we even knew there wasn't a hot tub there! I don't use a hot tub, so it never even occurred to me.

I rarely ever got in the hot tub we had here at home, so I certainly didn't miss one on vacation! I didn't like that it made my skin smell like bromine. And in the cooler months, I didn't like leaving the hot water and dashing to the back door, dripping wet! ;)

Just back from our 5 night stay at the Poly! We stayed 3rd floor Tahiti and loved the location! It was quiet, a beautiful MK view with the white sandy beach below us and the Castle directly in front! The fireworks could be seen even from the desk in the hotel room. I had an ECV and only had issue getting in and out of the room if someone wasn't there to hold the door for me (they should put door stoppers there in an easy location). We loved being so close to the TTC, as it seemed like just the same amount of time to walk there or to the GCH, and getting either monorail or the bus from the TTC made our transportation times very fast!

I loved getting the Kona coffee on mornings when we took the monorail from the GCH. I was bummed to find out you couldn't get Kona delivered through room service, and was surprised that almost nobody I asked knew about the Kona kiosk outside the cafe. It was like a shining beacon of light once I finally found it. They even have sugar in the raw available to put in coffee!

We tried swimming once in the volcano pool but it was a little too cold - but I loved having a pina colada at the barefoot beach bar! The next day was hotter - 85 degrees - and we were able to swim in the warm quiet pool.

Overall very glad I chose this hotel! If I didn't have an injury I probably would have looked in to using a hot tub at the GF spa if possible, but I was told to avoid too much heat. To me there was a tradeoff between good coffee and hot tub :)

Ok here is a question that I feel we would be best suited answered here...

Last Dec we stayed 8 nights at the Poly.:lmao: 6 nights were GV (Figi, 3rd floor Marina side), last 2 we stayed LVCL. Spoiled rotten by this treat. So here is the discussion in my head...

While I enjoyed the CL lounge with all the tasty treats and beverages, the real appeal was chilling in our room and watching the fireworks and ELP (while eating the yummy treats and beverages). So the Theme Park view is my main goal.

But, as much as I liked the lounge, I feel like we may get tired of the food and frankly we are not big drinkers, although the fruity rum punch was incredible... Our family also has enjoyed the dining plan and the dining options we are afforded by it...but CL and dining plan will be too much! And LVCL is $$$$$$$.

I am half tempted to try this...4 nights TPV w/ dining plan and then 4 nights LVCL?? But do I really want to pack up and move? (I AM NOT expecting them to keep up in the same room btw because I think I would so the CL last half.)

Or should I just book TPV w/dining for the 8 nights and enjoy my memories of my two CL nights?

Another tought is that we do have the Disney Visa and have lots of points, we could use those for the extra dining options instead of souvineers as we have done in the past...

One can only hope for a free dining offer and be able to book my LVCL...

Oh boy, see what happens when are home recovering from surgery and have way too much time on your hands. Is your head spinning, because mine is...but really, I would like your advice.

We're not drinkers either (except for a lot of water) and we're not big eaters. So, we're staying CL this time with no dining plan. I've booked one TS for most days, though. I figure that the one big meal plus the snacks will be enough (if not, we can always grab some snack at the parks).

If the view is the most important thing to you, I would book TPV. Then you would be guaranteed your most important thing and wouldn't have to worry about it. It sounds like you like the DDP, so book that, too.

I wouldn't do a split unless you're okay with packing and moving and losing that TPV. (just in case it happens).

We really want a good view, too, but I figure that if we dont get one at first, we will ask move to one the next day. For us, having the lounge and the snacks was more important.:)

Tough decision...

This will be our first visit to the Poly. Can some of you let me know your room requests? For example, which views/floors would be good to request? I know the likelihood of getting an MK view is slim, since we are booked for a regular room, but that would be ideal.

thanks

As you probably know, your chances of getting a MK view is slim because that is a bookable room category that costs more per night. I would think that placing a request on your reservation for a free upgrade wouldn't be worth it. If you already know this, I apologize. :goodvibes

If you request Tokelau or Figi, there is a possibility you would have a view of the MK. This would not be a full on view, but a somewhat sideways glance in that direction. In Figi you should request a marina side room and Tokelau request a room closer to the lagoon. :thumbsup2

Is the tiki torch lighting at the same time every night, or does it move with the seasons?

Does anyone know when it is during April?

Thanks in advance!:)

Hi, we're also wondering for those who've been recently, were there children's activities? TIA! :goodvibes

We love Tokelau 1st,2nd,or 3rd floor quiet pool side towards the lagoon.
