Also, we are traveling with our moms who have limited mobility. We are going to request to be near the main building but do we have to be on the 1st floor or are there are elevators for the other floors? And are the elevators conveinant?

There are elevators in all the buildings except one, I believe. And that one has a bridge connecting its second floor to the second floor of another building that does have an elevator. For convenience, though, you might just want to ask for 1st floor close to the GCH.

OK, I know this info is in this thread somewhere, but I've sorted thru 60 pages and haven't had any luck finding it!

We check in Jan 21. I booked my trip thru AAA, they were "supposed" to request interior connecting rooms, and a specific longhouse. My travel agent was an idiot, on a good day. So, I want to know if I can make this request myself, and if so, who do I e-mail this request to?

You can try to call the hotel directly a few days before you go and ask very very nicely if you can add a note to your reservation. Then, give them the request. Their number is 407-824-2000.

As far as I have read, there isn't a hot tub. We are going for the first time in a couple of weeks. But, appearantly there is a heated area of the pool with seating in it! I've never heard of this before... but sounds nice!

It looks like you are a couple weeks behind us. BTW, ya know what I did? I called about my ressie and asked her to check about 4 different check in dates that i COULD (key word could) be flexible on. She finally hit jackpot 2 days after our original check in date. So now we are staying from a Monday to Monday, kinda weird and messes up our work schedule a little but what the heck. We are celebrating our oldest DD's HS graduation and our 20th anniversary.

Does anyone know if all of the rooms at the Poly have the ability to be connecting rooms? Or are there only certain rooms or certain longhouses that have the connecting doors?

We are going in May and are taking the grandparents along with DH, DD and myself. We'd like to have connecting rooms or at least adjoining rooms and have linked our reservations on Disney's systems. We've also made the longhouse request of Samoa, 3rd floor, volcano pool side which is exactly where we stayed last time and loved it. I'm wondering if connecting rooms are available on the 3rd floor of Samoa?

We stayed 2nd floor Rapa Nui overlooking the gardens in December. Though we did not connect the rooms, there was a door there that I assume would have worked to do that.

FWIW, we thought Rapa Nui was a great location for our family - DH, me, MIL, DS(5), DD(3) DD(1). Close enough for DH to get breakfast from the coffee bar every morning. And we went to the TTC *every* time for MK boats, monorail AND buses. The lines for the buses at Poly were insane and the walk was the same.

Have a good time. I can't wait to go back and wish 2010 wasn't so far away!

Yes you are correct that the Polynesian has a boat that also shares with the Grand Floridian, that goes to the Magic Kingdom after picking up guests at Polynesian.

Oooo that reminds me....I think I saw this on the previous Poly thread but I'm not sure.....

We are requesting a crib (not the standard pack-n-play) because DD only wants to sleep in a crib. Anyway, did I remember reading that they are smaller than standard? And if so, I think I want to pick up a sheet somewhere. Does anyone remember if they just tucked under a sheet to make it fit or if they purchased one somewhere?

How old is your baby? We were there in December when DD was 17 months and actually made do with the PnP. I was forewarned that the Poly-provided sheets weren't great, so we brought our own. The regular crib-sized sheet was a little big, but I didn't overworry since my DD is not a newborn/at risk for SIDS. We also brought along her own crib blanket since 1) I didn't know what they might provide and 2) they didn't provide anything.

We found the boat from TTC larger and wasn't overly crowded - we were there week 1 of December and always walked right on. Vs. the boat to the Poly dock was small and had to stop at the GF first; we usually had to wait in line for the 3rd boat to come.

We loved the boat from the Poly. We never used the one from the TTC. It was great getting on the boat and heading right over to the MK. On the way back you stop at GF first but no big deal to us. We were staying in the Hawaii building so it was very convinent.

I read somewhere that you check-in and then go to another desk to get your tickets??? Is that your park tickets (those are on you KTTW cards) or tickets for dinner shows, etc? I'm trying to figure out if I need to go to the desk called "Island Guide" (is this the concierge desk)? or not. We do have a ressie for HDDR, do I pick up the tickets for it there or do I just need my adr # for HDDR?

We stayed 2nd floor, Tahiti, garden view, last fall and had connecting rooms. It was so convenient. We had the last 2 rooms on the end. So quiet. Also made it very easy for me to wait up for the kids to come "home". We could have managed with adjoining rooms but connecting just made it that much more awesome!

Thanks for the info, we are going to request connecting rooms but we would settle for adjoining room as long as we were on the same floor. Either way would be fine, I'm just glad to know that there are connecting rooms.

am i the only one who last may when i took the boat from thepoly to MK it never stopped at the GF? It was direct MK->Poly and Poly-> MK only

No hot tub...

But at the end of the volcano pool closest to the GCH, there is in pool seating with the most wonderful, massaging water jets. Very relaxing after a day in the parks.

What are the hours of the pool? DBF and I are arriving after 10pm and a quick jump in the pool would be a welcome 'Hello!' from flying from MA. Would those wonderful jets be on that late?

There is a check in desk where you check in, they will give you the KTTW card which is also your room key. If you purchased a package including park tickets, the park tickets will be on the KTTW. If you haven't purchased a package including tickets, you can get tickets loaded on to your KTTW card by the check in desk or the concierge desk. If you purchased tickets elsewhere, they can also load your ticket information on to your KTTW card and discard the tickets you purchased.

For the HDDR, you will have to pick up your tickets from the concierge which you can do right after you check in. They can also print you a list of your dining ressies.

I haven't stayed at the Poly before, but from my understanding, the Island Guide is a completely different desk. They seem to be responsible for handing out leis and providing Polynesian information including arts and crafts and resort info.
