There is definitely a microwave (and a toaster oven) available at Captain Cooks in the GCH. :thumbsup2 I've seen several folks use it to pop popcorn. I've heard some people have gotten microwaves in their room by asking but I've never done it personally.

We have requested a microwave for our April stay next year.

There is high speed internet that cost $9.95 not dial up.

Yup, it uses an Ethernet cord not a phone cord. The two look similar, with the plug on the Ethernet cord being slightly larger, so a lot of people get confused :thumbsup2

I don't think that adding "microwave" as a room request will matter for anything. Rooms aren't permanently equipped with one ... it's more of an item that you request once you are in your room, and someone comes up and brings it to you (if available).

It's not like there's a room category for a room with a microwave, and therefore when you check-in it's not like the front desk CM can look at the computer and give you a "microwave room."

They're available on a first-come, first-served basis. Having it on a room reservation won't do anything to "hold" one for you ... if they have only one left available, and you have it on your reservation for today but haven't arrived yet, and someone else who already has a room happens to call and request one, that person will get it.

I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just trying to perhaps prevent you from being angry/frustrated if you walk into your room and don't see a microwave sitting there.:goodvibes

We are looking at this resort, but would need to stay Garden view - does anyone have pics of what garden view looks like?

As CleveRock warned, you will still probably need to call for it when you actually get to your room. In the days before all rooms had refrigerators, we always requested one for insulin. It was noted on the reservation but probably 9 times out of 10 was not in the room when we arrived. We would just call housekeeping and they would deliver one very quickly. Do call housekeeping though....not the front desk.

Thanks everyone for posting the pics, again, in some cases! I miss the Poly so much and can't wait to return. I'm not staying there in Jan, but I definately will be stopping by!!!! :goodvibes

Hope everyone who is there or going soon for the holidays has a wonderful time!!

Hello all Poly lovers on this thread!

My boyfriend and I are planning a 4 night stay at the Poly for May 09 and I have a few questions for you experts!

1) I know about the different levels of rooms, what is the cheapoest room category that will have a balcony where you can see water? (a balcony with a water view is the ONE requirement for our vacation, location on the grounds, proximity to the GCH etc isn't a concern for us.)

2) When I book, can I call Disney directly and use a AAA discount? Or do I have to book through AAA? (I would much prefer have all my travel documents come directly to me then go to a travel agent KWIM?)

3) How do I know if I have a PIN? Do I just ask when I call?

4) I called about booking a trip today but they said 2009 rates aren't out yet, when will they be?

Thanks in advance! This is my first trip planning everything myself! :)

I can answer some of your questions, then someone else Im sure will pick up where I left off.

This will be our first stay there, so I am not sure what room to ask for, but someone here will let you know.

AAA discount can be booked thru DIsney I think if it is room only, if you are using a package, like with MYW plus dining I believe you need to book thru AAA.

I got a 40% off code by calling Disney reservations and giving them my name and asking if there are any codes associated with my name in their system. They looked it up and "POOF!" there was a code. So I booked with Disney with the MYW package plus Dining. It was about equal to what the room only discount was for AAA. But I was able to book it myself and add the MYW and dining and get all the documents sent directly to me.

Im surprised the rates arent out yet for 5/09 that is just around the corner. Or do you mean the AAA rates? I would check with AAA to see what they say. You can always say you are looking for a quote just to see what they give you for a rate. I think that is a rather slower time of the year, although the Flower and Garden show is going on then. My husband and I are planning on going in May also just the two of us ......NOKIDS!

The other thing going on at this time is the Pirate and Princess party so check into those dates if you want to attend the party.

Good luck with all your plans!

Welcome!

The 2009 rates are out (have been since August '08), so I dont know why they would tell you they aren't.:confused3

If you HAVE to have a water view (the lake, I am assuming, not a pool) then you would want to book the Lagoon View category. I know that from some of the Garden View rooms you can see the marina or part of the lagoon, but there is no guarantee that you would get one of those rooms.

If you want to chance it and save some $$$, book the GV room. But if it will ruin your trip if you dont have a great view of the lagoon, by all means book a LV room.

Happy planning!:)

I called 1 407 WDisney and he said "You want to travel in May 09?" and I told him yes, and he said "Rates for 2009 are not available yet..."

Which i was confused by too because people have booked the 4/3 deal and thats clearly next year....?

So tomorrow I'm going to call and ask about a code. If there isn't one I'll price my trip through AAA and hope there's something good going on there.

you guys are so helpful thank youuu :)

ADDED: I kinda priced it out but it said the deposit would be like 700 something, does the deposit go from $100 per person and then up depending on how close you are to travelling?

Deposits for "room only" ressies is the amount for one night.

On the buy 4 get 3 deal the deposit was only $200.

A package is defined as room + tickets, with or witout the Disney Dining Plan.

A room-only reservation is ... :rolleyes1 ... just a room reservation.

With a package, you make a $200 deposit within 7 days of making the reservation, and the balance is due no later than 45 days before arrival.

With a room-only, you make a deposit of 1 night's room rate + tax within 7 days of making the reservation, and the balance is due at check-in.

There are different cancellation policies for the two types of reservations, as well.

Yes, definitely call again. Lately some of the CMs on the phone have been completely ignorant of what Disney is doing. The good CMs are still great, but there are way too many people there who know less about Disney than they should.

If you dont get a good CM this time, keep calling. 2009 is absolutely bookable (all of 2009) but it's no use fighting with a CM who cant help you. Considering that 2009 is in something like 45 days, what do they think they are booking for? Just now through Dec. 31st?

Both my DH & I called to get the deal (basically at the same time/same day). He was told that neither the Poly or the GF were eligible with the deal -- it was only going to be offered at mods and values. At the same time, I was booking a CL room at the Poly!

So keep trying! :)
