I'm here too tonight...sad thing is, my daughter is at her first school dance right now and I'm sitting home by myself on a Friday night. How sad is that?!!!

You mean you're not throwing a wild party with all of your friends over while your daughter is gone? :lmao: This trip is going to be so magical for you guys. The trip to the Poly in Dec of '06 was supposed to be the first time for my Mom but unfortunately she passed away before she got to go. Be sure when you go to take lots of photos and cherish the memories of this trip.

MsStinkerbelle, some folks on the DVC boards report taking along a tiny router to use WiFi in the villas and balconies. Maybe you could try that in Dec..

Wow, that's a really good idea! I'll definitely have to look into it. Once you're used to WiFi it is sooo hard to use anything else. :surfweb:

Good morning everyone! :sunny: We'll be heading out soon, but didn't want to start the day without a peek into the Polynesian FAQ. :surfweb:

Me&3: Glad you had a nice evening. :)

BCV: I remember seeing the original "Friday the 13th" at a drive-in movie theater. LOL

MsStinkerBelle: I agree about the wi-fi. Hopefully some day they'll upgrade the resorts. The router is a great idea, in the meantime.

portocall: Planning is a huge part of the fun for me, too. I think most of us here can relate to that. ::yes:: Also, I try and rationalize the price of a Disney trip to DH by saying that I actually get a year's worth of "fun" due to the pre-planning factor, so it comes out to a lesser cost when you look at the per-day price. 365/price of vacation.

I am sooooo happy right now! Here's the why...

I love this board. I love the pics, the people, the advice... you get it or you wouldn't be here ;) After our Thanksgiving 2007 Grand Gathering, I knew we wouldn't be heading back to WDW for some time. DH was very gracious about going, but he didn't "get the Disney thing". So I kind of avoided the DIS, trying to wean myself away cautiously. Then a few months later...DH mentions how much fun he had at WDW. How he'd never stay anywhere but the Poly next time. So my ears perked up...next time?? I've been good. Said little. Planned a great trip to the Smokey Mountains, Dollywood, NC , etc. for April 2009 vacation. Then last week DH comes in from his 2nd shift job. Cold, tired, brakes on his Jeep blew on his way to his job as a mechanic... and he says, " I want to go back to the Poly. We need to take the girls back now, while they still enjoy going on long trips" and will put up with driving 1400 miles. One way.

So we did some talking. Decide the financing of the trip (we only do it paid in full-- personal choice) and decide we can do it. But gee...April vacation. Lots more money than T-Day was...AAA discount? At this late date? $505/night?? Hack, cough, hack... Last night I decided to contact the TA and see what she could do. We got the AAA discount! Saved a hair under $400! I know there are bigger discounts at other times, but with DD 14 in High School now, there is no way I can take her out of school. The plan was, a AAA discount was the deal maker. I know it was hard to get it for Thanksgiving last time, but I booked that trip 500 days out. It was easy to flip to AAA rate when they came out.

So I got it. We're going home! I could even smell the Poly the other night. I feel soooooo good and I just had to share. Here's to many more late nights reading all the great posts here once again!:cool1:

Me&3 Happy Birthday:cake: a day late, hope it was fun!

Twinnybelles sounded like you had a fun trip:)

I don't know how I'm going to make it til June. I agree with everyone that said that checking in with the FAQ thread and reading about everyone's trips is so fun. It gets me dreaming about my own..and I just got back myself less than a month ago:lmao: Planning really does make the time go faster. It's a dreary day here today (rain, wind, etc.) so June seems even farther away.

I know just what you mean - being at the Poly is like home, without the housework, stress, etc. :goodvibes

Thank you Seaspray and DebbyLof428! The best part was when I headed out to tell DH the good news, he was as happy as I am! A convert...wow! It truly is just like going home... and less than 6 months to go! That beats the 630+ days we waited for the November 2007 trip!

Hi all:wave2:

I have been lurking on this and the old thread for a long time now. I am a long time lurker of the DIS. My family will be leaving for the Poly Nov. 1st. We only stayed at the Poly once. That was when we purchased BCV. We had a free stay and it had to be the POLY!!! I love this resort. So last year when we won (YES, WON) a trip to WDW, it had to be the Poly:cool1: We are very excited. We were able to use the amount of winnings any way we wanted. We already had AP's. I tried to get LV, but nothing was available.:sad2: So we had to go with GV, but that is OK. We added the dlx dinning. We will be at the Poly from 11/1 - 11/8 the we move to the BCV till 11/16. We are the luckiest family! This trip should be wonderful. We have requested Tahiti. I think I will call next week to request a patio. Do you think this will be hard to get? I also want a full size crib, because my son has climbed out of the pack n play. Will this be hard to get too?

SeaSpray - I don't know if you remember, but I first got to know you from the 2nd double dip DCL thread. I had a friends son who thankfully made a full recovery after a life threatening illness. I wound up having to cancel that cruise because I got pregnant. I hope you all had a great cruise and that all the other posters and families are well.

Good morning everyone! I am sitting here with my 6 month old puppy while everyone else is sleeping. I have a few minutes of DIS time.:yay: i am dreaming of sitting at the resort eating my tonga toast. Well let's see, I have a year to go! I am going to try and do GVCL. That beats the two years out that I started with, lol. Thank goodness for this thread. It keeps me sane when I need it.:worship:

This will be our first trip to the Poly. I had reservations at CBR but when I found the Poly room open on Friday i just had to jump on it!!! I am soooo excited. My ds and I will share our birthday at the Poly this year!!1:cool1:
We have adrs for Chef Mickys that night and tickets to MVMCP after!!!
Thanks to everyone for such great information!!!

After seeing this I think I've made a decision. I am switching our reservation from POR for our Feb 2009 trip. This where my boys (10 & 7) wanted to stay anyway. You have a lot of wonderful pictures.

Two weeks from this moment our plane leaves Milwaukee and a few hours later we'll be at the Poly...I can't wait!!!!!

I"m right behind you! Leaving 2 weeks from Tuesday but driving. I can't believe our trip is finally almost here. We have been planning since Feb. Well, really about a year we start talking about where we want to stay and what we missed and will do next trip in the car on the way home from WDW.

We finally booked our first trip to the Poly:cool1: but now have to move it to Nov/09. I was able to get the 40% pin offer for the dates I wanted but the wait is gonna kill me!!:rotfl:
I'll keep reading the posts and keep track of all the great info too and dream of the Polynesian
....guess I better change my ticker too

I can't wait till we arrive at the Poly in 13 days! We had SNOW for the first time this season last night...ugh!!!

*sigh*.....on this very day, and almost this exact time last year we were getting ready to land and begin our 1st stay at the Poly!! I can't stop thinking about how excited we were a year ago!!!

On a brighter note, we've booked a return trip "home", but it isn't until December 2009! How will I survive that long? To all those going soon, enjoy!!!

We're finally starting to plan for our next WDW trip! Hopefully in October of '09!

Will be checking this thread regularly!!!
