I love the California Grill. I have dined there a number of times. The views are breathtaking (especially at night and during Wishes) There was an outside walkway (top of bldg) that was awesome. :goodvibes It might not still be there since construction of the new addition. I hope they haven't eliminated it. The food is excellent with an upscale menu.
And, while the dining area is very inviting with large windows, there is also a counter area where the chefs cook on open grills. The chefs have been known to share samples of their creations with guests sitting at the counter.

Thanks for the info on CG! We are dining there for the first time in January for my DH's birthday...snagged a ressie so we can watch the fireworks! :woohoo: I am so looking forward to it. This trip will be our first "no kids allowed" trip in 13 yrs. It will definately be different. (I mean that in a good way!!) :goodvibes

HI what time would you book a ressie at CG if you wanted to see wishes???

I just got back from our first trip without the kids. We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. We stayed at GF and it was great.

Well, once you got past the first 24 hours of guilt and worry :guilty:

Have a wonderful time Stephanie, dont worry about the kids, THEY WILL BE FINE.....

That was my Mantra :rotfl:

Thanks Lilmattie13, I sure am going to try and not worry too much...I'm thinking after a day or so of freedom, I may not wanna go home! :rotfl: Just kidding!

The night we are going to CG, Wishes starts at 8pm and we have a 715 ressie. The CM that made the ressie was very helpful in getting us there at the right time since it is DH's actual birthday!

Oh, and Happy Anniversary...glad you had such a wonderful time!!

Enjoy the remainder of your visit! Think of us who are sitting at the computer with a sweater and shivering! :rotfl2: I can't wait to hear about The Wave--we're thinking of giving it a go in May.

Thanks, Tess.:goodvibes I really enjoyed The Wave. We had both lunch and dinner there. It's a nice addition to the monorail circuit of restaurants.:thumbsup2

Good Morning everyone! I have been swamped with work and not visiting here much- just sneaking in to say hello and miss you all! My trip to the Poly is still over a year away but I am getting there day by day!!

It will be here before you know it. Happy planning and Polynesian dreams.:cloud9:

BCV23 Hope you're having a great time. I'm so wishing I was back at the Poly! I have a question.. in your list of places that you've dined(all sound yummy) what do the intials CG stand for? I'm still not up on all the abbreviations here on the Dis:eek:

Sorry! ShyJade is right. I meant California Grill which is one of our favorites.

Great job! I learned how to link on the DIS too although I think it took me several years!:headache: You're a quick learner!:surfweb:

The walkways are still there completely unaffected by the construction. Besides the one to the right of the podium, there's another back beyond the restrooms. I agree completely about your assessment of the restaurant. It's great.

HI what time would you book a ressie at CG if you wanted to see wishes???

I think I would book about an hour and a half before Wishes. It can take a while to be seated as Wishes nears from all reports I've seen. We prefer to dine early so only see Wishes when the MK is closing on the early side. And honestly, I think it's better from the Polynesian as Wishes is centered around the castle from there. But it's also awesome from CG and worth seeing that way at least once.

BCV23,

Hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation! :goodvibes

Hi!:flower3: Thanks so much. Even though we're not staying at the Polynesian this trip, dining there and checking in with the friendly Polynesian thread is almost as nice.:surfweb:

In reference to the link I posted with all the abbreviations. I forgot:blush: to mention that not only are all the abbreviations there. Most of the abbreviations provide additional links for more information about whatever event or subject you may be looking up.
It's a really kewl (my grand daughter taught me how to spell kewl) page with links to unlimited information.
Yep, it's another site that can keep me busy for days while I anticipate my next trip to "The World". Whatever your question might be, odds are that you can find the answer there.
The only thing missing there is the warmth and personalities of all the "kewl" people here who share their knowledge, questions and experiences here.
Thank you all and may we all have many more wonderful Disney vacations.

Oookay. So. We cancelled out ressies at 'Ohana in favour of Narcoossee's, but I just realized something terrible.

No bread pudding!!!:scared: :rotfl:

Does anyone know if there's any way we can order the bread pudding from the Tambu lounge? Is there any way at all to get some?

I'm dying here!!

Can someone please help me and tell me the name of the drink that they make at the Poly that is made with the Dole Whip????

Tink_rules, you aren't by any chance thinking of a dole whip float? That seems too easy.:rotfl:

I absolutely love your sig quote though. So true!

Thanks much...

No... this one has alcohol in it and it's served at the pool bar...

(we are trying to find it for a food trip report...)

Hmmm... I just checked the menus at allears and I couldn't find anything... and now I'm on to Google hunting.

Now this is driving ME crazy!:lmao:

It's at the Barefoot Bar at the pool and I can't find it either... :headache:

FOUND IT!!!!    (Dole Banana :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: )

It was under a thread called How about Pictures of Alcoholic drinks!!!

It's called the Pineapple Dream. They have it at the pool @ the Poly. It's Dole Whip + Souther Comfort + Butterscotch Schnapps + Captain Morgan. Yum!

I doubt you'd be able to get it without going to the restaurant. That being said, they'll give you a copy of the recipe and it's very easy to make.

I posted it once on a recipe exchange thread that was on one of these boards, but I have no clue where it is now :rotfl:

Yes - you can order it without eating there. When we dine at Kona my DH has to have bread pudding so he just walks over to Ohana and orders one. No problem at all. :goodvibes

Anyone remember which H2O toiletries are complimentary in the Poly rooms? I know shampoo and conditioner...what else? Trying to figure out what we don't need to pack!

I know the lotion is in there too. I think maybe the sun cream too.

There's the bath soap, the facial soap, shower gel and lotion. I haven't seen the sun relief gel both times I've stayed there. Not really a big deal for me and my family since we're not prone to sunburn. ;)
