I love this thread! We just paid off the rest of our vacation this week! I'm so excited.

Johnsonet~ Thanks for the pictures of the pool toys. I might have to get some of those for the kids when we go down.

That's always a nice feeling...:thumbsup2

Tuvalu is a wonderful longhouse to be in. Plus you'd get to hear some of the music from the Luau. Don't worry, it's not loud but it is very romantic. :thumbsup2

Tuvalu Chick :cutie: - I LOVE your photo!! That roped off section is awesome and your daughter is precious.
Here's a pic I took from the side door of the Luau Cove end of Tuvalu, looking back at Aotearoa. Every time I pass that beach on my way to the spa/fitness I'm surprised it is empty!

You've posted some lovely photo's :thumbsup2
So, was the Sushi good ;)

Thanks Tink :) Are you saying my photo was too large?? ;)

Welcome back!
Loving the pics, thanks very much for sharing :)

Thank you. The Poly really was better than ever :wizard:

Last question from me (for a while! ;))

Were the pools warm or cold? I've read some complaints that the pools at the Poly were very cold. Thanks! :goodvibes
P.S.
Oh, and thanks for the pics of the Kona Island Coffee Bar - I really thought it would be a little hut or something! :)

I only swam in the quiet pool and it was certainly not warm but it felt good. Definitely not too cold. You adjust quickly. In my opinion the pools are always chilly at first - AKL especially  My daughter took her time getting in - although when her cousins joined us they all ran in without a thought... I wouldn't worry!

Thanks. Awesome about your trip being paid off :yay:

That's what I had there in December and it was very good.
CR Resort Fan 4 Life - did you like that sauce? The Lilikoi sauce? It tasted good but was too sweet for my taste w/ the sushi - but I did ask for extra ginger and wasabi ;) The sushi is SUCH a great addition to the offerings :thumbsup2

I had a little bit of the sauce, so I did not mind it's sweet taste.

Hey Poly Peeps!!!!

Question, we are driving 2 cars to WDW. My DD17 is staying with friends at POP for their Graduation trip, so we will be dropping them off there. Are we allowed to park 2 cars at the Poly?

thanks

yes. we just did it during our stay. My SIL joined us. They always seem to give you 2 parking passes at the resorts I've stayed at :thumbsup2

Johnsonet,

Thanks for the sushi info. The guys on the Podcast said it was very good, and they are usually picky, but I wanted a 2nd opinion. We have really good sushi here and can be really picky about it.

And thanks so much for posting so many photos and so much helpful information for the rest of us!

Guess it's time for you to start planning your next trip!;)

Picabo - I know you were asking about pool toys. Here's what was available last week:

DSC00827.jpg

Nemo bucket w/ shovel ~ $5.95 (these were the only buckets I saw)

DSC00828.jpg

Pool Action Pack $12.97 (jet streamers, dive balls, magnet dive gloves)

Nemo inflatable beach ball, Nemo inflatable swim ring, Nemo inflatable swim bands ~ ALL $3.50 each

Nemo Bath Buddies ~ $12.00

DSC00829.jpg

Jet streamers ~ $4.95

When we were at WDW at the beginning of the month, all toys and plushes were on sale although the sales price usually wasn't displayed. So we bought one of those pails for $4 something. I asked the clerk if the price rung up was wrong and she explained the sale. Nice!

Thanks for posting more wonderful photos, johnsonet. :goodvibes That shrimp tempura roll looks so good. :surfweb:

bcv23 - your post just reminded me of something! When DD and I were at MK LAST Monday, she picked out a WebKinz. Later in the photos I took of the shop, I noticed the 25% off sign. When we returned to the same shop (Agrabah Bazaar?) on Thursday, the sign wasn't there. I was thinking that maybe because the heavier crowds had rolled in the sale was over ;) But now I'm not so sure...

mmmears - thanks very much for your kind words
YES, I can't wait to plan another trip  Maybe for the summer :rolleyes1
The sushi is really yummy. I know what you mean about being picky - incredible sushi spoils you! The sushi from the sushi bar menu will not disappoint! I was in heaven with the crab/avocado/pineapple roll :cloud9: They also offer Sashimi (Salmon, Tuna and Chef's Choice), Volcano Roll (Spicy Tuna, Seafood "Lau'ai" w/ Tempura Crunch), traditional Nigiri (Salmon, Tuna, Chef's choice) and Kona Crab Cake Roll (Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Avocado and Asian Tartar sauce - plus a combo plate :thumbsup2

Ah, that makes sense.

So are those WebKinz in your picture? I've heard of them but don't really know much about them.

I apologize in advance as I am sure this has already been asked, but how many laundry rooms are there at the Poly? :)

Yes. Sorry I didn't explain. They are stuffed animals with codes with which you log in on the webkinz website. Each animal has an animated animal character which the child (or adult :rolleyes1) can name, feed, design a room for, dress, play games, etc. It's really cute...

There is only one laundry room at the Poly, unless there's one in Tonga??
It is over by Neverland Club and the Poly's Bus stop. It is a nice size. Machines are $2 per load.( $2 to wash, $2 to dry) $1 for a small box of soap.

We used the laundry twice during our trip a couple of weeks ago and there are only 6 washers (one was broken), but a few more dryers (Im thinking about 11). I was suprised to see just 6 and when we went the second time I had to wait for about 20 mins until one was freed up. A man came in while I was waiting (I had about 3 loads to do) and he decided to come back later. I figured for a resort that size they would have a few more washers. :confused3

Thanks so much for the pics, Johnsonet! I didn't see this asked, but since Niue was formerly a smoking building, did you notice any residual smoke smell?

Thank you all. I also would think that a resort of this size would have at least two laundry facilities. We stayed at ASMu last year, and even being a small resort they had two. We will still enjoy our stay at the Poly in June. ;)

How crowded was the laundry room in general? We're hoping to do a couple of loads once or twice while we're there. I was hoping to do it in the afternoon, but I'm guessing that that might be the "busy time".

Thanks for the info. Love the pics and thanks for posting them...I don't remember webkinz May 2008. My DD8 has 30 of them and is going to go :rotfl2:when she sees them for sale at her favorite place on earth...:rotfl:

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I was there last week and did 3 loads of laundry on 2 different days. I never had to wait for a machine and there were no Out of Order signs on any machines. The laundry room is always kept neat and clean, in my experience. I've stayed there 5+ times before and probably used the laundry room on 4 of those stays. I was there in the 4-6pm range. The Deluxes don't have a huge amount of washing machines...

Good question b/c BCV23 had told me this had been the smoking bldg. for years. There was NO odor - not in the room and not in the hallways. ZERO. And I'm sensitive to this. Two of our Raratonga stays had had previous guests who'd smoked in the room. Nightmare!

I hope you won't have a problem. I never have. The Deluxes don't have huge laundry rooms. AKL's main one by Simba's is the largest I've seen - maybe 10 washers and more dryers??

That's when I went (4-6pm range and had no problem at all)

Not sure how long they've been there but originally they were few and far between. My DD remembers her friend getting a WebKinz over Mother's Day weekend last year in the MK. But we were searching for them ;) There are a lot more now! They have them in the resorts and in the parks (at least the MK!)

Darn! I had decided that I'd request Tahiti in the summer for DH and I, but now that I've seen those pics of Tuvalu . . . . Decisions, decisions!:coffee:
