Yes. You're right. You can't use the GF pools or their outdoor hot tub if you're staying at the Poly :thumbsup2

Thanks to all who helped clarify my original question. You all do know a lot.

I stayed at POLY last time & I missed not having a hot tub. I guess I'll have to try GF or CR next time. I just love the theming at POLY though. I really wish they would build a hot tub there. :guilty:

I agree - my last order of Tonga Toast from Captn Cooks in December was definitley overdone. However, I can't compare to Kona because there is no way I would order anything but the Macadamia Nut Pancakes from there!!!!

Tonga Toast doesn't appeal to me in the least - just sounds way too sickening sweet for my taste especially at bkfst! BUT - those macadamia nut pancakes are calling my name!!!!! I can't WAIT to try them!

QUESTION about the bathrooms - Is there any storage area under the sink or in drawers OR, if not, is the counter room pretty spacious? You know us ladies always have so many toiletries items to lug along! haha ALSO, by the fridge, is there any sort of area to store some food items?

There are 2 open shelves under the sink. There's not a whole lot of counter space - but most of my cosmetics do fit on or under the narrow shelf in back of the sink.
I think there are some narrow shelves next to the frig - but we just keep most of our food on the counter above it.

Here's a partial pic - you can get a glimpse of one of the cubbies on the bottom right. This is from Hawaii Bldg. - one sink.

Am I having a senior moment or aren't there two shelves on each side of the sink? It seems I used two for my daughter and I and two for our son and my husband--maybe I'm just not remembering correctly? :confused3

In either event, we have never had an issue storing cosmetics, medications, and toiletries x4. :thumbsup2

checking in saturday can't wait it's getting cold here in indiana again...Leaving friday afterschool driving straight thru should arrive around 7 a.m.

Looks like there could be a crowd of us early Saturday arrivers.

We leave mid-day Friday from Texas - 20 hour ride to Olando and going straight through.

Be careful getting there!! Have a blast :cool1:

Just soaking up the atmosphere of the resort is a relaxing way for us to start our vacation at the Poly. :-)

I totally agree :thumbsup2 I have to get unpacked first though ;)

You're welcome.
I don't miss a hot tub at the Poly ~ but that's just me. I will say that the ones at AKL are nice but the one at GF is nothing special at all.

Tess, I just found this photo on allearnet :flower3:

Oh yes, I hadn't meant to imply that there was only one cubby! LJD2143 had already responded with that part...

I went to look for other pics b/c I figured with as many Poly trips as you've had, you'd know for sure and that maybe I was wrong and there were 4 cubbies

We are staying at the Poly April 12th-18th for our first time and have gotten a magic kingdom view room booked. We were told to put in the Tahita building with our reservation and to get there early for check in to get our request filled. Does anyone else have any pointers on how to make sure we get the view we paid for???:worship: Just concerned we are going to be disappointed. My husband is in the Navy and we got a discount on the room and the military hopper pass tickets. So everything is paid for and now worried with some reviews I have read! Please Help me!

If you paid for a MK view then that's what you'll get. All of those rooms have unobstructed views (that's what you're paying for, after all!). I think that many of those rooms are in Tahiti, but there are some in other buildings, too.

We've always made our requests by phone to the regular Disney phone # and never had any problems. And we've checked in as late as 2:30 am before. If your room is pre-assigned they shouldn't just give it away to someone else. I haven't heard of anyone not satisfied with their MK view (lagoon view, yes, but not MK view), but if you dont like it, you can always try to change rooms.

We'll be at the Poly that week, too!:)

:rotfl: Hopefully we will run into each other. It will be my husband, me , our daughter, and my mother-in-law. We want the MK view because my daughter does not remember when we went the first time and it is the first time my mother in law has every been. We are treating her to a week of Disney. I hope it is not too crowed. But I want to be able to sit outside and still feel part of the excitement from our room.:wizard:

Johnsonet,

Are you really going in just a week an a half? You must be so excited! I thought your trip was closer to mine. Guess you wont have to wait that long... Have a great time at the Poly -- and send us some photos if you feel up to it!

Hey! Yes, I "tinker" w/ my countdown ;) I will totally be posting live :surfweb: Can't wait!!

It will be me, my husband and our daughter this time. We usually take my mother, but she doesn't want to come with us this time. So the room will feel really big with just the 3 of us! First time at the Poly for us, too, and we're hoping for a view of the castle (booked lagoon view in Hawaii building) for our first Poly experience. I'm worried about the crowds, but at least the weather is usually nice in April! We're counting down the days!

I called the IPO office to make some ADR changes and I asked if they knew if they were getting cabanas at the Poly. Some time ago on another thread it was posted that there will be cabanas at the new CR pool and thatched one(s) at the Poly. As of now, the IPO CM said they haven't heard anything about it yet.

I'll check with them again in a few weeks (I'm sure I'll have to call about something...:rotfl: )

I dont think we'll have time to book one, but I thought someone here might want to know about it.

I'm coming over to join you. We had ressies at AKL CL, then got a pin (yay!!) and they had no more rooms at CL. We've stayed at the Polynesian before and loved the relaxed feeling about it so my DH insisted we come back. It's so romantic there also, perfect for an anniversary! You really can't beat all the transportation option either. Now I'll be spending the weekend researching every little tidbit about the Poly and getting myself really excited to be there.

Cabanas at the Poly pool would be lovely!:cloud9:
I just wonder WHERE they will go, since the volcano pool area can already get so crowded at peak times?
