We only reserved plain Garden View-not club level-so you can see why I was so excited and still thrilled about our good luck.:lovestruc

That is sweeeeeet :thumbsup2 You're lucky.

This time tomorrow we'll be at the Poly!:cool1: Or possibly DHS if we can stay awake that long.:rotfl2:

Just wanted to thank everyone here for all the great info and photos on the Polynesian. It's been 8 years since we were last at WDW and a lot has changed.

If DH brings his lap top -- he's thinking of going without :scared1: I'll try to send a live report!

Hope you are having a wonderful time :wizard:

If anyone is there NOW or will be soon, or has been recently....do you know what kinds of shirts/sweatshirts, hats etc that they have for toddlers?? Are they cute?

ALSO, anyone know hwo much the sand toys are at the gift shop? THANK YOU!

Sorry, I do not know. My DD is 11 now and I wasn't looking at stuff for little ones :upsidedow Here is a pic of a cute, cap-sleeved tee I saw at AK. They had several of different princesses, in different colors.

How late/early are the laundry rooms open???

I believe they are 24 hours??

In all my stays at the Poly, that's the one thing I really didn't care for, food wise. I love Ohana at night and it's my favorite place to eat dinner, but the breakfast isn't worth it price or food wise, IMO. Now on the other hand Kona cafe is my favorite for breakfast and lunch is pretty good to. Kona makes not only the famous Tonga toast, but a great omelet too. The steak and eggs ain't too shabby either.;)

I have never have had a bad meal at Kona and it's a relaxing as well. Great way way to start off the morning, IMO.:thumbsup2

We opted for Kona each time if we didn't have a simple breakfast in the CL lounge BUT, when you have little ones (or you are just really into it!), the character meals are really worth it, IMO. Lilo and Stitch are so cute and the views from 'Ohana are great. I've read good reviews of the breakfast from SeaSpray and others...

I would skip O'Hana's for breakfast and go to Kona. I have said before we just went on Saturday for breakfast it was not good. And my DH had to go out and get us Kona coffee O'Hana only has Nescafe YUCK. The waitress didn't even offer to get us any from Kona but see did tell us she dosen't drink coffee. The juice wasn't even that good. The characters are always fun anywhere. Its Lilo,Stitch,Mickey and Pluto you can find them somewhere else without having to eat bad food. Thats my opinion.

Curious....how late is the quiet pool open and during the winter is it heated enough that you could swim on a fairly cool night(60ish)?

Mine is, too! I'm glad I've been paying close attention to your reviews, since I haven't taken her to WDW in a few years and I want to find new things (resorts, meals, rides) she might like now that she'd older! :)

mmmears You are going to have soooo much fun!

As far as the resort, my daughter had never stayed anywhere but the GF from the time she was 2.5 years old... then I tried AKL and I LOVED it. Then we decided to give Poly a try in probably 2004 and she LOVED it there. It's gorgeous and has a great atmosphere. It also has a very nice arcade (DH got her into arcade games a few years ago  ) We travel to WDW a lot and rotate among our favorite resorts and enjoy each one :cloud9:

I was just asking my daughter about her favorites from our trip and the first thing out of her mouth was Toy Story Mania! She LOVED it! We both did.

She also loves Kona and asked me, the night before we had 'Ohana breakfast booked on our recent trip, whether we could cancel and go back to Kona instead. We love it for every meal. :lovestruc It's just always good and very relaxed.

She and I always do afternoon tea at the GF together, so I highly recommend that to you and your family.

The Volcano pool at Poly is great, as is the beach. My daughter adores the hammocks :cloud9: They have some nice activities by the pool, too. She and my niece painted tiki masks during Spring Break 2008 that are beautiful!

She also said she just loved just eating in the CL lounge and watching Disney Channel. She doesn't watch a lot of TV at home, so that's a treat for her :happytv:

She also loves Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Splash Mountain... in MK. She likes everything at MK, actually, except Dumbo

The countries, particularly UK and Japan pavilions in Epcot... Soarin' of course.

In AK our favorites are Kali River Rapids and the Nemo Musical!! Frozen mocha at the coffee and tea stand on the path to Expedition Everest.

At DHS she LOVES Star Tours (no WAY would I ride it!) and Great Movie Ride, in addition to Toy Story Mania. We also love the Indiana Jones Stunt show... And don't miss the animation class :thumbsup2 We've done it probably 10 times and it's always fun.

I can't wait to hear how you like your trip :cheer2:

We were at Disneyland this June, just before they opened up Toy Story Mania:sad2: so we can't wait to try it out at WDW!

We're looking forward to the lounge and Kona. We always do tea at the GF (always stayed there in the past) and Ohana for dinner. We're also looking forward to relaxing at the beach.

We all did the animation twice at DL this year and loved it!!! Now we can all draw a pretty good Mickey!!! (Goofy is another story... much harder...).

Thanks for all the advice, and the wonderful photos of the Poly!:)

How much in advance do you need to schedule delivery from Gardengrocer? We leave in 24 days, can I place an order now? Or wait until closer to we leave?

I would order now - when I ordered, there was a date that was unavailable. You just select the delivery date - I found it very easy to do.

Good luck! :goodvibes

Wow, awesome thread! Wish I had found these boards and this thread a little sooner.
Heading to WDW and the Poly for our first family visit in a little over 2 weeks now and sitting here at work reading all about it is driving me nuts. Can't wait!
Thanks for everyone's insights, thoughts and tips!

Anyone hoping to get the general code discount at the Poly (just came out this morning) - good luck...nothing available for our dates with the discount. Last year we went the same week and got 40% off, and that was with booking it a few weeks after the discount was released. Go figure!

The CM offered to check other resorts and I was momentarily tempted but said "no, don't even tell me what's available, we want to stay at the Poly." :cloud9:

Sorry for the newbie question, but what is the "general code discount"?

Welcome. This is an awesome thread.
You will LOVE the Polynesian :cloud9:

Meaning, a code for everyone. Not just Annual Passholders or FL residents, etc.

Is there a small store to pick up a half gallon of milk at the Poly?

Is there a link to what the store has to offer anywhere?

Samoa Snacks should have it...(Housewares, sodas, liquor, wine, beer, snacks). I don't know if it would be a half gallon... may be smaller... and may NEED to be smaller to fit into the room fridges... I'm not sure about the size of the fridges, I haven't been since they have included those in the rooms.

There's not much to offer at Samoa snacks except for single size servings. But there's a store at the Wilderness lodge that sells a lot grocery type items for the guests who have kitchens in their WL DVC villas. On my last tour of the lodge, I saw 1/2 gallon milk, bread, basically anything you wanted food wise and it's only a bus or boat ride away from the Poly. I'm sure it's more expensive than a regular grocery store, but it is an option to keep in mind. I myself used Gardengrocer.com and had it delivered. They kept everything cold and I had no issues with them.
