We are staying at the Poly in January... it will be a first time trip for me & my DD... DH has been many times. We recently discovered that my DD has a peanut allergy-- anyone know if there are any nut issues there?

This time tomorrow we'll be at the Poly!:cool1: Or possibly DHS if we can stay awake that long.:rotfl2:

Just wanted to thank everyone here for all the great info and photos on the Polynesian. It's been 8 years since we were last at WDW and a lot has changed.

If DH brings his lap top -- he's thinking of going without :scared1: I'll try to send a live report!

I don't you will have any problems. Just mention that on your ADRs and wherever you are going to eat and they will be more than happy to accommodate you!

I would guess that pea nut oil would be used more than at other resorts since a lot of the food is Asian inspired.... that is just a guess though.

Mention this fact to your server at every meal. Many times the chef will come out to talk to you about any allergies and tell you which foods are safe for you to eat. I was amazed at how much attention the staff takes to guide you at the reastaurants. You will always find something that will work.

What kind of tv's are in the lounge? We want to watch Monday Night Football while we are there!!
I would also watch the game in your room because everytime I was in the lounge they always had the tv on the Disney Channel for the little kids and chances are the game will go past 10:00 PM which is when the Cast Members shut everything off for the night and that includes the TV.

The tv downstairs in the main lounge is a 42 inch flat screen. It's primarliy for the kids and you really don't want to try to watch a ball game there. I think a lot of the folks responding to your post have forgotten about the 50 inch flat screen in the small lounge on the 3rd floor. This area is almost always empty and you can put on whatever channel you want. It would probably be a great spot for watching a game, although obviously less private than your guest room. I watched a NASCAR race there one Sunday in July and ended up having a couple of fellow race fans join me. This is a very under utilized area of the lounge. It's great for adults that don't feel like watching Disney cartoons. I like to eat up there as well sometimes since it's much more secluded and quiet. They also have some board games that you can play and even some old photo albums of the concierge staff from years past. You just have to root around to find them.

Without having to read 230 pages of info on this thread :lmao: can someone quickly give me the Poly IPO email address and phone number? THANK YOU!!!!! :worship:

(and someone desperately needs to update the concierge information thread with new information!)

If anyone is there NOW or will be soon, or has been recently....do you know what kinds of shirts/sweatshirts, hats etc that they have for toddlers?? Are they cute?

ALSO, anyone know hwo much the sand toys are at the gift shop?

THANK YOU!

Seaspray, I also enjoyed your family's vacation website. Your pics are fantastic. I also took a peek at your cruise pics. Loved them too. Thanks for sharing all your pics and info. It helps so much. :thumbsup2

oh, also, can you get tonga toast at O'hana or just Kona?

You can get it at Kona and downstairs at Capt. Cook's and room service. We went to O'Hana's for breakfast just last saturday. The food is not as good as dinner. We will eat breakfast at Kona's next time.

How much in advance do you need to schedule delivery from Gardengrocer? We leave in 24 days, can I place an order now? Or wait until closer to we leave?

Ok, honest opinions please. I have read and heard that O'hana's breakfast is not too good. Should we cancel our ADR and just sub in Kona Cafe?
We do have ADR's for CM, CRT, CP, Tusker and 1900 for character meals so will we be missing much if we just switch??? Kids are 2 and 4 and have never seen Lilo and Stitch movie.
Thanks

You sound just like US! Our kids will be that age and we have every character meal on earth planned (well not quite...but pretty much same as you). I chose NOT to do Ohana bkfst b/c of teh same reason...they've never seen Lilo and Stitch and don't seem interested in it either. Personally, I'd replace it with Kona and get macadamia pancakes! Yummmo! They have plenty of other times to see characters wtih all you have planned! Just my 2 cents of course! :yay:

In all my stays at the Poly, that's the one thing I really didn't care for, food wise. I love Ohana at night and it's my favorite place to eat dinner, but the breakfast isn't worth it price or food wise, IMO. Now on the other hand Kona cafe is my favorite for breakfast and lunch is pretty good to. Kona makes not only the famous Tonga toast, but a great omelet too. The steak and eggs ain't too shabby either.;)

I have never have had a bad meal at Kona and it's a relaxing as well. Great way way to start off the morning, IMO.:thumbsup2
