I just wanted to check in and say hello to everyone. My family and I have decided on staying at the Poly in August 2009 and that's what we're gearing up for. Sure it's expensive and does seem out of reach, but that's what saving money for something you really want is all about, IMO. On our budget, we should be staying at a moderate, but the Poly is like home to my family and it wouldn't be a true Disney vacation to us, without staying there. I get bummed about the ever increasing room rates and swear each time my last trip, is it for awhile, but then we start to miss it so much. Here's hoping that I'll see some of you August 1 – August 10, 2009, that's the dates I'll be there. Aloha everyone.:thumbsup2

That's great! I was trying to decide whether I should ensure that everyone comes into the Ceremonial House to check in...this decides it!

The last time I was lei'd at the Poly was back in 1977 when I was 4! Can't wait to return 31 years later!:goodvibes

It's been our experience that they always give out leis to everyone when they check in. If for some reason the CM has you all checked in and you don't get a lei, just ask if they have them, because once in a while the CM can forget, and I think it's better to ask and then get the leis, rather than walk away feeling disappointed.

Now, over the years there has been a time or two where they've run out of leis, but they'll usually tell you to come back later or the next day and they'll be glad to give them to you then. :)

Hi everyone just got back yesterday from 15 days of fun  . Already looking to go back my DS(8) was crying hes so sad :sad1: . I think we would live in Disney if we could:rotfl2: . It looks like I missed alot trying to catch up:surfweb:
Welcome back! Were you at the Polynesian all 15 days?? :cool1: Hope you will post more details and/or pics :thumbsup2

I've found that sometimes we've gotten one and sometimes we haven't. The very first time we went, as we walked into the lobby we were greeted by a CM and she placed a lei around our necks. That was cool. It made me feel like I was in Hawaii. I don't really think to much about it, if I get one great, if I don't, that's ok.
I think we've gotten them each time. It's festive. I love seeing older couples who've just checked in with their leis on :wizard: I can see how people look forward to the ritual of it and might be a little disappointed if they are not "lei'd" on arrival  If you are not given your necklace of flowers then definitely just ask :thumbsup2

I hope your trip is magical. You have a great attitude re. the price. We were lagoon view club level a couple of weeks ago and I swear it was worth every penny! The Polynesian is a WONDERFUL place to stay while at Disney. Maybe we'll see you there next August :wave2:

Good Morning Everyone. So I have decided to add the night before my Poly stay with a room at the AS Sports. .

I've been CONSIDERING doing a night at one of the values PRIOR to our Poly stay.

We are going down a day earlier too and staying at CSR for a day as our flight arrives on the 27th around 2pm.

It is very easy to make the move. If you don't wish to move your luggage yourself, Bell Services will do it for you. You can get yourself to the Poly and check in. When you return from your day at the parks, call Bell Services and they will deliver it to your room!

We plan to do just that. :yay:

Great minds think alike! I love arriving and staying at a value the first night. We did that when baby was 2 1/2 and I felt like we were stealing a free day at the parks and at the Poly. Bell service is cool too. It's like magic!

I'm so excited. We'll be there in just 8 days. But, before I get to my favorite place, I need to survive a Jonas Bros. concert w/ 3 12 yr. olds the night before we leave. :scared: And I should get the packing started.

See ya at the Poly!! :)

:woohoo: Have a great time!

I do want to make one suggestion: cotton (or earplugs!) for the Jonas Bros or you will have ringing in your ears for about a week afterward (not from the band; from the shrieking teens!!!) :rotfl2:

Hi all! I said I would put them up, and now almost a week later i'm posting. LOL! I know there is a poly pic thread, but I said I would post them here so here they are.

View from my balcony, room 3807 in the Rarotonga bulilding. I got some peace and quiet sitting outside my balcony while the kiddos and the DH were napping.

The DH and I with our Lapu Lapus...we got them from the Tambu lounge and then walked to the beach and found a prime spot to watch the electric boat parade and the fireworks.

The last day. :( We were walking around before we left...this was right outside the Grand Ceremonial house...we were not happy to leave.

My crazy DH! It looks like a plain picture of a man in a hammock, but the MK castle is in the background. HAHA!

The duck in the pool. He was just one of many that morning.

We just got into our room...my DD was so excited to have a Mickey Mouse head made out of towels. HAHA!

The Mickey Head...you can tell my DD got to it before I could take a picture.

Alright, that's all. We got to get leis twice while we were there b/c we ate at Ohana's for breakfast and of course once when we checked in. My kids were so excited, but now we've got leis all over the house!

Great pictures!! I cannot wait until we're at the Poly. What rate was your room? We are garden view. I love your view.

Yes, absolutely. Earplugs are a must!!! :rotfl:

I DEFINATELY second the "ear plug" suggestion!!! I brought them to all the concerts I've taken my DD10 been to and never ended up needing them (Hannah, Cheetah Girls, Drake Bell/Corbin Blue, Ashley Tisdale, Jesse McCartney). Last month's Jonas Brothers concert I left them at home, thinking again it wouldn't be too bad, especially since it was an outdoor venue. WRONG!!!! There were many times we couldn't hear the lyrics (and were never able to hear them talking) because of the screaming. And we had somewhat decent seats, about 40 rows from the stage. But it was a good show, and I have a new resect for them after seeing them perform.

But DON'T FORGET THE EARPLUGS!!! If you do, they are sold at the t-shirt stands, although I didn't find that out till afterwards. :rolleyes1

Oh how I'm enjoying the pix!!! I wish I were there RIGHT NOW! More pix please!!

How much is it to rent a boat? Do you drive it yourself or does a CM drive you? Sounds like something DH would LOVE to do!

OK so has anyone had the Pork sandwich from Captain Cooks? It sounds sooo scrumptious. I need ot know if it's as good as it sounds!

THANKS!

I've been CONSIDERING doing a night at one of the values PRIOR to our Poly stay. I'm thinking with DH who is NOT a morning person and 2 toddlers...we probably won't even arrive to Orlando till mid afternoon...wasting a precious day at Disney World! So I'm thinking maybe arrive a day earlier, move over to Poly in the morning and start our fun. Any thoughts on how easy or difficult it will be to "MOVE" hotels with toddlers for just one night?

We're doing a night at Pop before moving to BWV for 3 nights and then it's off to the Poly. The Pop night got tacked on because of our late arrival from L.A.-- we'll get some swim/wind down/Disney time after our flight, crash and be out at the parks the next morning. We've done split stays with toddlers before and didn't have a problem at all. Just bring a change of clothes/swim gear in a bag so you're prepared in case your luggage gets hung up (ours never did). Don't stress and go with the flow. :goodvibes

Briggidge2, thanks for the pics! I'm counting down the days to our trip, my husband thinks it's silly but after looking at those pictures I can't wait to go!

Thanks for the great photos. You have a beautiful family!

Two days until my first trip to the poly!:cool1:

This isn't really Poly specific, but you guys are so great on this thread, and I am staying at the Poly so I thought I'd ask here.:rolleyes1

Oh, by the way, I can't wait to go.

First question: Can my 19 year old daughter, princess: who is arriving separately from us (she went and got her self a job at school this summer and didn't come home, can't wait to see her!!!!!) check in for us. We have a package, so everything is paid for. I figured I could give them my credit card for charging privileges on our KTTK when I got there??

Second question: Can I put a dollar limit on my daughters' princess: princess: KTTKs (without limiting mine) so that I can give them a surprise of some spending money when we get there?

Thanks so much for any info you might have.

Have I said how I can't wait to go.

Thanks for posting your wonderful pics!! You have a lovely family!!

I can't wait to get there!! Only 30 long days left

I've been planning my honeymoon at the poly for the last year and now it's a week away. Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful information I've gathered from this thread. We decided to go all out and stay in the Honeymoon Suite. We're soooo excited! We are planning on taking the Carriage Ride at Port Orleans the evening we arrive at sunset. What would be the fastest and easiest way to get there? I assume it's a cab. From there I understand we can take a boat to Downtown Disney. (Gotta get the Bride and Groom Ears)
