The *NEW* Polynesian Resort FAQ thread - *2008*

I just made reservations for the Poly during Thanksgiving week, a few days ago. All the info here has been great. We had a hard time deciding between poly and por, but the benefit of staying on the monorail with 2 young children, as well as the bigger rooms, and queen beds helped us to make our decision. We'll be celebrating my dd 7th birthday and my mother in law will be with us, so there were not a lot of choices for 5 people. Again, great thread. I'm sure I'll be back many times!

Hurray! I just paid off my AAA package today! :cool1: :woohoo:

It was a big chunk of change, but 10 nights at the Poly will make it all worthwhile! I can't wait! :hourglass

Just have to say that this thread is making us so "homesick"!:(
So I guess there's no reason for us to get the refillable mugs this year. I'll just pay for the dole whips instead. The boys and I can't live without them on any Disney visit let alon when were at the Poly.

Thanks alot for the information. I have one more question, I have asked it on the cake thread but I haven't gotten an answer. Can I have chocolate strawberries or a cake delivered to the room when we arrive? And if so what would something like that run me?

Thanks

Someone asked about the princess suite - we have not stayed there yet, but will be staying there right after New Year's. I have asked this question before, and searched the forums, but no luck (there are only 2 I think so many nobody on this board has stayed in them - they are $$$$$$$ - we are celebrating my dd's health after a long illness, and before she heads off to college) - so I'll be sure to post pics and review when I get back. Tikiman's site is the best source for info - he has pics. The only bad thing is all the suites are in Tonga, and I really wanted to stay in Hawaii - but I'm sure it will be great! I know they are first floor and border the marina - you can see the castle in the distance.

The 2-bedroom Princess suite is on the first floor, the 1 bedroom is directly above it. Both have great castle views :goodvibes

There is a "mini-lounge" on the 2nd floor of Tonga. They have a continental breakfast there just like in Hawaii (but better pastries and more cereal choices), and snacks/cookies out after that. The only thing missing are the evening services, so if you want those you have to go to Hawaii. It's not a far walk though.

Another great thing about Tonga is that it is RIGHT next to the GCH, and you can use a covered walkway between the 2 during rainstorms :thumbsup2

My hubby loves motorcycles:moped: and he loves to jet ski. Now my question to all of the experts is, can you rent a jet ski at the poly or anywhere on property and if what are the prices?
Thanks so much any and all iformation is greatly appreciated.

After laying out, rearranging and re-laying out clothes for our trip, I have accepted that I am going to have to suck it up and do at least one load of laundry during our 7 day Poly stay in September, in order to avoid too much luggage--3 months and 3 weeks--yippeee! Do the washers\dryers take dollar bills or just quarters?

Hi all,

I have stayed at the Polynesian 3 times in a row, and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! There's just something about the atmosphere there that makes me smile so brightly.

I was just wondering if anyone has a specific longhouse they prefer to stay in.

:moped: I've looked everywhere (everywhere but the right place) and I can't find photos of the suites in the Tonga bldg. If anyone has some, would you please post here? :worship:
And thank you everyone for all your info and mutual love of the poly.

I just found this thread and I am so excited to start reading it. We are staying at the Poly this Oct/Nov. for 10 nights to celebrate my 40th Birthday and our 10th Anniversary...It is also my 3 year old's first trip. We are so looking forward to it and this thread only makes the anticipation that much better. :yay:

I have been addicted to the boards for quite awhile, especially this thread. My family and I are going to stay at the Poly this year for the first time and can't wait. :goodvibes :goodvibes November seems too far away right now. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences, both good and bad (although most certainly seem to be good) so that others can learn and plan accordingly. I do have one question...what exactly is a Dole Whip? Is it something you can only get at the Poly?
