I'm not sure of the names of the long houses I'd recommend. But, I do suggest that you get a garden view that faces the quiet pool. that whole area has lush gardens and the quiet pool is just that....quiet. The morning always brings the locals (cute critters) out. And it's soo serene. It's a perfect way to wake up with your favorite coffee blend. It's worth a quick walk to the GCH for kona coffee. Then just sit back, catch your breath, take in the surroundings and look forward to the magic of the day.

I also would like that. I just can't stretch my budget for the Lagoon View, which I really want, so I have a Garden View booked.

But I would love to know which long house provides the best Garden View...I am looking for one with a very tropical view...not necessarily close to transportation or Great Ceremonial House. Its all about the view.

Gardenview rooms at the Polynesian are wonderful. From your description, I think a room around what I call the Eastern courtyard would be perfect. Absolutely stunning tropical gardens and very quiet....away from both pools. The buildings would be the Eastern side of Tokelau, the gardenview side of Tahiti and the courtyard side of Rapa Nui. The other side of Rapa Nui faces the parking lot and while there is pretty vegetation between the lot and building, that would still not be my first choice. This area is quite close to the TTC.

The area JRDMAN describes is beautiful too but a bit busier due to the pool. The advantage of that area is that it is closer to the GCH. Tokelau actually straddles the two areas. One side faces the pool and the other the Eastern courtyard.

The drink that is served in a pineapple is a Lapu Lapu. It is strong, sweet and delicious. Some people refer to it as a rum runner in a pineapple.

We are really struggling with our reservation. There will be 6 of us. 2 adults 4 kids(11,9,3,infant) The more we think about it the more we think we need two rooms. We are currently booked in a MK view room for October. Would it be a better idea to get a suite somewhere? There is a suite available at the Poly for our dates. Or should we try and get 2 rooms that connect? DH is really set on staying monorail. Any suggestions and/or pictures of the 1 bedroom princess suite would be appreciated.

Have you tried Tikiman's site? I think he has pictures of some suites on the Tonga page.

The rooms in the three newer longhouses are actually quite large...476 sq ft. I think your family would fit fine in one of those rooms if one bathroom would work for your crew. There's quite a bit of floor space.

We've never done a suite but have had two rooms when our now DIL was with us making us a group of six adults. Two rooms was fantastic.

I have been a few times to the Poly...they seemed to be all renamed and Im a little confused about the "walking distance to the TTC for Epcot. Does the monarail from the Poly no longer go to Epcot? It used to, or at least to the TTC where you could switch.

We booked two garden wiew rooms. Im with a young daughter, elderly mother, two teenaged boys and one hubby...mix of everything!! I would like to stay close the the GCH, but not if that means we have to be walking a great distance to the TTC to go to Epcot (though I suppose we will be walking all day, so whats another 10 minutes!!)

Any garden view room suggestions?

The closest Longhouse to the GCH is Rarotonga since it's right next to it. There is also Tahiti which is right next to the TTC, however it's the longest one when walking to the GCH.

Hi there,
The only two longhouses that we've stayed in were: Tahiti and Fiji. Both were really great and had really lovely views, however I do prefer Tahiti. The reason for this is because it is not too close to the GCH or the volcano pools. It's a very nice walk to both, and the views are LOVELY. The beach outside the longhouse is amazing because you can see Space Mountain, the ferries leaving for and coming back from the MK. You can also see the nighttime fireworks and sometimes even hear some music coming from the park.

I love it there, and I would 100% most definatly stay there again (if we had the choice...)

And this is what I am talking about! Man, this makes me long for the Poly. That early morning stroll before anyone gets up. Sneaking back to the room with a tray of Mickey waffles and drinks for the kids. I love it!

The resort monorail still goes to the TTC. From there, you must transfer to the Epcot monorail. That has always been true.

Tokelau might be a good choice for you. Larger rooms and sort of midaway between the GCH and TTC.

I was just looking at someone pics of the entire resort. I got me wondering if anyone ambitious ever tried to swim from the Poly to the Contemporary!!

I don't think that would be safe at all. There are large ferries and many other boats on the lagoon. They also do a good job of patrolling.

We are going for the Deluxe Dining Plan and will have the refillable mugs. I am a coffee addict and was wondering if we will be able to use the mugs at the Kona coffee bar? Yum! I hope so.

I don't think you will be able to use the mugs there.​
