Thanks BCV and SeaSpray for the Tangaroa Terrace/Snack Isle info. It would be cool if they put a full-on lounge over there at TT. Drop the kids off at Neverland and go down some Lapu Lapus, listen to some live music. I mean Tambu Lounge is great but it's just so out in the middle of it all. I need another Captain Cook's Hideaway. ;)

This is an area where the Poly is sorely lacking. There's no quiet, out-of-the-way cocktail lounge where one can truly relax anymore. The Tambu Lounge is usually over-crowded with cranky people waiting to be seated at one of the restaurants. The carnival atmosphere of the GCH and the limited dining options at the Poly -- as opposed to the old days when there were 2 lounges and 3 table service restaurants -- has been a real turn-off for us.

The one time we were there we were on the 2d floor and could walk from our room right down the hall to the lounge. If we stay on the 3d floor is there easy access to the lounge via stairs? What about the 1st floor? I prefer not to get on elevators if I don't have to...
THANKS

You definitely don't have to get on an elevator. If you're on the third floor, you can enter the lounge from there (you'll be in the little "loft" area above the serving/eating area where the restroom is). Then you can just take the stairs down into the main area.

From the first floor, you just walk back through the lobby and up the stairs.

HTH! :)

I did not know there was access to the 3d floor of the concierge lounge from the 3d floor rooms hallway :thumbsup2
AND
I had completely forgotten about the interior stairway from where the concierge planners are located on the 1st floor up to the lounge. Thanks so much!
I'm going to add a request for 1st floor. I think we'll enjoy being on the ground floor:hippie:

I've booked Poly LVC for our summer trip. We have stayed GVC once and GV 3 times. Never had a LV room here and I CANNOT wait!
From all I've seen and read on Tikiman's site and from SeaSpray's pics of her rooms, it seems the views are pretty much fabulous from all 3 floors! I'm trying to figure out if we'd be happier with a balcony on the 3d floor and what must be slightly more sweeping views, or a 1st floor room w/ patio and easy access to beach, walkway to pool~
Has anyone stayed in both a 3d floor and a 1st floor room at the Poly? Specifically in Hawaii, b/c I'm wondering what the access to the lounge is like. :wave2: Hi Johnsonet good to see you. :) We have stayed on both floors with a LV room. I really prefer the 3 rd floor. The view is as you said fabulous. We loved seeing the weddings going on at Sunset Point. The very best part was lying on the bed watching the castle changing color. My DGD was so excited to see that. Of course I helped her excitement by telling her that it was Cinderella's kiss goodnight to us. :cloud9: We did spend time on the balcony in the morning and again during the evening hours after returning from the parks or lounge. There are stairways on both ends of the longhouse. So access to the lounge was very easy. My kids and grandkids used it often to quickly run down to the lounge for a snack.

I personally wouldn't want to stay on the second floor because our family loves to have an outdoor place to sit, view and relax. In addition, during our visit the lounge was busy and a bit noisy. I wouldn't want a room too close to the entrance of the lounge.

The first floor room was nice, however the area we were at seemed to have a lot of people walking around, playing on the grass and children running and knocking on the windows. :confused3 My DH has a "thing" about people looking in at you while you are in your room relaxing, eating or just napping. I love to look out and enjoy the sunlight. When we had the 1st floor room he always was closing the curtains if he saw people outside. There also was a LOT of ducks, really cute and fun to interact with however they didn't seem to know when to leave. :) Side note, when we stayed on the 1st floor we didn't really have much access to things (pool, walking on the beach ect.) as it was just my DH and myself. We usually wanted to go places together, so going out the patio door just didn't happen because we didn't want to leave the room unlocked.

I am sure you will have a wonderful vacation. What time of year are you going? Be sure to take some pictures to share. Please :flower3:

Oh yes, as DISNEEYORE said there is that loft. What a dumb head I am. This is the area we used to surprise my DH on our "Celebration of Life" trip. I had our kids, their husbands and grandkids arrive to suprise him and celebrate his early, early retirement and coming through aortic heart valve replacment. Dumb, dumb, dumb. They joined us for a week. What a fantastic trip that was. Ahhhh

Last December my family and I stayed in room #3510 on the 3rd floor and whenever we would go to the lounge, we would use the stairs that go right towards the lounge on the 2nd floor.

Glad to help! :) I hope you have a wonderful trip! :wizard:

Hi Angel16:wave2: It's been a while! :flower3:
Thank you for your advice. Now I'm torn, though!:headache: Not sure what to do, and of course there is no guarantee as to where my room is, regardless of my request. However I REALLY don't want the second floor. I want a balcony or patio this time! Maybe I should just request 1st or 3d floor...There are pros and cons to each. Mostly pros ;)
CR Resort Fan 4 Life -are you saying you entered the lounge via the 3d floor and then walked down to where the food offerings are? That is definitely what I would do if we were put in a 3d floor room. I did not know in my original question that there was a door to the lounge up there but DiznEeyore filled me in :thumbsup2 Thank you :)

Yes that is exactly what we did when going to the lounge if we were coming from our room.

Okay, it just took me 3 days to go through this thread. I absolutely loved it though. We had our first "Disney" vacation 2 years ago and my sister talked me into staying at the Poly (their favorite place). It was great especially with a 1 and 3 year old at the time. We had a great time.

We are going again on July 2nd and were considering a moderate hotel but can't get the Poly out of our blood and decided because of money to just lose a night and stay at the Poly.

I really can't wait.....BTW, is the Tonga Toast that great????? I never tried it last time. Also, does anybody know where you can great a Frappuccino (like the Starbucks type) in Disney????

Thanks.

Caroline

cmac609 I know what you mean about the Poly. It's wonderful. And SO Disney :wizard: I'm happy for you that you're going back!
Yes, Tonga Toast is really yummy. It is VERY rich and decadent. Last month I ordered it as an "appetizer" at breakfast so that everyone could try a bite. It was scrumptious!!Very sweet and rich though. I needed some eggs and bacon for my main meal ;)
I looked on All Ears Net dot com and found that the Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom has a frozen latte - maybe that would be something you'd enjoy?
Have a great trip!

I am paying for a Magic Kingdom view and requested Tahiti longhouse. Question: I see in pics that some people have a view of Space Mountain. Can you still view Cinderella's Castle from these rooms or is it either or? I really want DD to see Cinderella's Castle when she wakes up in the morning and not Space Mountain. Both would be cool. What about viewing of the water parade? Can it be seen from all magic Kingdom views?

You'd be able to see Space Mountain, Cinderella Castle, and more, with a Magic Kingdom view :3dglasses In some of the pictures that show only Space Mountain, those people were simply looking towards that direction, but turning slightly to your left would bring the castle into view. When you're that far back from the Magic Kingdom, you can see a full 180 degrees of it.

And yes, you'd definitely be able to see the Electric Light Parade from your room as well.

OH thank you thank you thank you!! I was getting nervous that if I got stuck in a corner room, I would only be able to see one angle. That makes me feel so much better. I am so excited. Thanks Again.

subscribing! :dance3: Dh had a weak moment after watching the Disney DVD and I am taking full advantage! :rotfl:

Yep, direct access to the lounge from 1st and 3rd floors. We've stayed on the 3rd floor only b/c I feel more "secure" on a higher floor....just my "thing". My brother and his wife stay on the 1st floor and would never request any other floor. They love the direct access to the beach outside their room. You can't go wrong w/ either. Have a GREAT time!

BCV 23...........I pm'd you! :)

Are there french fries available at Captain Cook's?
Yes there is. However on the ordering screens you need to purchase them separately, because they are not included with any of the items on the menu. So that is what I did whenever I would purchase something at Captin Cook's.
