I understand from one of the other threads that the coffee in the CS places sucks. Can you get Kona coffee to go? I'd hate to have to give up my morning jolt!!

I believe you can purchase it to go at the Kona Island stand, which is located on the 2nd floor of the Great Ceremonial House next to the Kona Cafe.

I am so excited the dh just mentioned he wanted to knock off a couple of our nights at Vero and stay at Disney for 3-4 nights. WooHoo. So I booked the Poly! Cannot wait. We plan spending minimal time in the parks and just enjoying the resort the rest of the time. We stayed there back in Oct for a week and with the exception of housekeeping loved the resort!!!!!

Last summer at the CR we were told we could pick any item $4 or less. We brought home several packages of the Chip and Dale spicy snack mix for gifts!popcorn::

Does anyone know if the items for sale at Kona Island count as snack credits on the DDP?

I just double checked the WDW 2008 Dining Plan brochure, and Kona Island was NOT listed among the participating locations. So unless you see the DDP symbol posted there when you travel (changes do sometimes occur), I would assume that DDP credits can not be used at Kona Island.

You can however use your DDP at Kona Cafe, Captain Cook's, 'Ohana, the 'Spirit of Aloha' dinner show, and for in-room dining at the Poly.

Thanks for the heads up on Kona Island. :cutie: We love our coffee in the morning and cannot drink that Nescafe junk, so believe me, on the mornings we don't eat at Kona, we will be paying OOP for the stuff at the coffee bar!

I was going to offer to check too, Terry!:goodvibes We check out the day you check in. Can't wait now.

But I actually suspect that you can use DDP credits there. Years ago before the current DDP one trip I picked up breakfast for one of our children there. We were on whatever the Gold plan was called that year.

That list in the DDP brochure is not complete. There are a number of smaller locations not listed in it.

Granted this was last August and things could have changed, people were using their DDP credits at Kona Island. But even if you don't see the DDP symbol, ask anyway. That's how I got to use cotton candy at County Bounty as snack credits. :thumbsup2

CR Fan is probably right, but I'll try and remember to check for sure, when I'm there :)

Thanks y'all for offering to check about Kona Island when you're there next. I hope both of you have a great trip! :cool1:

Anyone is welcome to watch Wishes from the Polynesian beach. It's even shown as a good thing to do on one of the shows on WDW televison.

But be sure to catch Wishes from MK. Polynesian is second best spot to watch but there are some effects that you can only see from inside the MK.

And welcome to the DIS!:surfweb:

Thanks! I arranged dinner at the Kona cafe for 8 PM the day we arrive at disney - i tried to plan it so that after a long dinner, we can get to the beach to watch the fireworks.

the next day is magic kingdom, where i planned on viewing the fireworks from up close. Thanks for the insight!!!!!!

Anyone going to the Poly this week or next?? Cannot wait to go! We are going May 9-13th!!! FIRST TIMERS! My 3 little kids are so excited about it all (ages 6,4 and 2). I can't wait. I hope 4 nights/ 5 days is enough... i am sure we'll want to stay longer!
Do you think my kids will need jackets or sweaters for the evenings there? I am trying to be smart when we go to pack our suitcases. I am trying to remember everything yet i hate to bring everything + the kitchen sink!!!!

Oh, that sounds like a perfect plan. Kona is wonderful and watching Wishes from the beach is magical. Then the next night, you'll get the complete story. Great planning!!!:thumbsup2

We'll be there next week. I would pack one sweater, sweatshirt or light jacket/child just in case. It's hard to know.

Have a great vacation!
