Hey guys, DBFF and I have finally set a date for our 2008 trip and since I have been wanting to stay at the Poly forever were finally considering forking over the extra bucks! I must say I do have a worry though...is it very very big? I remember the last few times we've gone to the Poly to look around or eat that we've gotten terribly lost amongst the longhouses! It wasn't horrible because its all very beautifully landscaped and a nice day and all, but I just worry about us out there in the darkn not being able to find our way home! I haven't seen one comment through this entire thread regarding this, and hearing you all love it so much makes me almost disregard it and go no matter what! Just wondering anyone's opinion on the matter! Also the last time we ate at Kona..the service was sooooo bad we wound up actually not eating since we never got any food! But all of you have such wonderful things to say it makes me very hopeful! It was a lunch on a slow day with very few staff and that was probably the problem right there!

In anycase, all of your input and info and photos have been wonderful and I'd just like to say thanks!:worship:

I'm sure you all know this but wanted to make sure...I was soooo excited to get a Lapu Lapu at the Poly last year only to find out that they only serve it for the Luau now. Boo Hoo.

Just 5 more sleeps and we are on our way!! I am so excited and want to book the bounce back if they are still offering.

On a side not, one of my boys is sick with a flu/stomach virus. Please pray that he is feeling better before we leave and that my other sons will by some miracle not get sick.

Hope everyone is healthy for your vacation! :wizard: Good luck.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I coudln't find it. Can you tell me what the pillows are like at the Poly? Foam? Feather? Etc. Any info is GREATLY appreciated. TIA! :flower3:

I cannot tell you exactly what the pillows are but I loved how THICK they were! Very squishy and soft. They must be a foam type material. Pretty heavy and could be balled up. Mine def. were not feather. They were comfy!

Yay for you, only 5 more days!! And I do hope that your DS will feel all better by then and that none of the rest of you come down with it. I hope you have a wonderful time!! :sunny:

I really can't remember, but they were very soft. :cloud9: I'm thinking they were feather, but not the kind where you can feel the individual feathers poking you through the covering. LOL Sorry that I can't remember for sure. :confused3

Once you find out which longhouse you'll be staying in you quickly get used to the route going to and from it, and how to get to the GCH and the TTC from there. I don't think the resort is overly large or spreadout, and there are signs to point you in the right direction :)

I haven't heard this before!! :scared1:

Ok wait...as I was hitting the Submit button, I realized that today is April Fool's Day! I HOPE that TnTWalter was JOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

On second thought, you're probably right! LOL They were very soft and squishable! LOL And that's why I thought they might be feather, but maybe they are soft foam?!!?! :confused3 I don't know.

Just wanted to post a comment on this terrific thread that SeaSpray started:surfweb:
I just returned from Spring Break and Easter at the Polynesian :wizard: We had a wonderful stay. I think our 4th time at the Poly. Second time in Raratonga and it was great. Garden View. It was awesome to see the monorail from our sliding glass windows. Just steps to quiet pool and Neverland Club.
The resort looked great and was less crowded feeling than AKL during similarly busy time last Spring. We had a WONDERFUL trip and several good meals (Kona b'fast and dinner and also Citrico's - YUM!)
Parks were awesome, EMH at MK made me feel like a genius :dance3: , Flower and Garden at Epcot was better than last year (IMO) and we enjoyed the new Spaceship Earth.
Again, Poly was great but Housekeeping needs improving and I am not a fussy person. I need to write a letter... New Capt. Cook's was good. Touch screens took a tad getting used to but the place was CLEAN and efficient even when packed.
Volcano Pool and beach were fabulous as always.
For anyone looking forward to a trip to Poly you are in for a treat. We can't WAIT to go back! In fact, I should've booked while there to enjoy the 30% off they were offereing but dates were too ltd. for me.
:wave2:
Glad you had a great time and survived Spring Break!:thumbsup2

Mind sharing what exactly was wrong with housekeeping? The constant reports about bad housekeeping at the Poly, on several sites and in reviews, is a major factor as to why we changed our ressie over to the GF.

Morning everyone. I think the Polynesian pillows are the middle of these:

Johnsonet, good to see you around. I'm glad you had a good stay. Sorry to hear about your housekeeper.

Magicalears, most mousekeepers at the Polynesian do a great job just as they do at the GF. There's an occasional exception.

I had a Lapu Lapu at Kona in October I think. I hope TnTWalter was joking!

Not exactly true. :goodvibes They serve Lapu Lapu's at Kona Cafe and at 'Ohana. This past December I got both of my sister's a Lapu Lapu and they were seeing triple!

Thanks BCV23 :wave2: That Magic Gel pillow sounds like the one!

Yes, to be clear, I've never before had complaints with Housekeeping in my 20+ stays at GF, AKL, Poly, BC and BWI. Well, maybe once at BWI years ago.. and this time it was not awful, just slack. The beds were not made the way they usually are - always lumps and wrinkles in the bedspreads. Also, there were crumbs and things on the floor and on the desk chair from previous guests that were never cleaned. I took care of that myself of course, but not before I left it one or two days just to see whether Housekeeping was going to deal with it. The coffeemaker was never cleaned out. My coffee mug with coffee in it was left untouched. (Normally I do this myself but our first morning we left at 6:30 for EMH at MK and I left it by the coffeemaker and when we ret'd it was still there.) Also, mugs and glasses were not automatically replenished/replaced. I've never had this experience. On the 3d day I left a note with the usual daily tip of $3 requesting fresh glasses and I did receive them. So, to be fair, they were completely accomodating. Also, when we dealt with housekeepers face to face they were very nice. Bottom line: the room just wasn't immaculate-looking. Considering the room was $485 plus tax a night I don't think a nicely, professionally-cleaned room is too much to ask.

I dont want to come across as nitpicky b/c I'm not. I just noticed it b/c it's never been like that on any of our trips at any Disney resorts... It was the ONLY negative of our whole trip out of a LOT of positives and here I've written a whole paragraph about it  Sorry!

Thanks for the hugs, BCV! I'm in serious Poly withdrawal.

OOh, I would love to see some of your Poly pages. I just finished scrapbooking an autograph book for my brother's DD4, but it would be great to get some ideas for my future Poly pages!

I'll try to scan some when I get them finished. I'm a total scrapbook amateur so my layouts aren't really sophisticated. I'm getting better...slowly but surely.! :thumbsup2

I accidentally cancelled all subscriptions, so I'm re-subbing to this thread. Man, do I wish I was at the Poly right now... only 8 months to go ;P

HI There,

I am trying to get on tikimans website but it says it is temporarily unavailable, it has been several days in a row that I have tried and I keep getting the same message. Anyone have info?

:scared: Ok my crowd fears are totally kicking in because of this picture...

Is that what I can expect for an afternoon in August? There barely looks like any room in that pool to actually "swim" lol :crowded:

Typhoonlagooner Keep in mind that that pic was taken on Good Friday. Easter is one of the busiest times at WDW. We go in mid-August every year and it's never as crowded as it is during Spring Break :thumbsup2

I'll admitt, minor panic attack :bitelip:

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with a busy pool... but I don't think I've ever seen a Disney pool "appear" to be that busy... even at Pop and ASmu.

Thanks for the encouraging words :flower3: It's a lovely picture by the way too!

I think it's partly the angle too. It looks like quite a bit of open water.:rotfl:

You weren't nitpicking, johnsonet. That's too bad.

This is my photo from AKL last Spring Break when the crowds seemed so out of control. However now I see how much open water there actually is in this shot!

Poly was awesome. The crowds did not seem bad to me considering it was Easter week.
