We want to come to WL Dec. 2-6. We have been told that the rooms are already full. Do any of you Diser's know what's up? We have APs and are awaiting those discount codes for the time we'll be there. Any chance some of the rooms will open up? I have dreamed of coming back to the lodge ever since May.

I just tried making reserv. using Disney World.com and it said that only Courtyard view rooms were available. This is a little scary to me because we are planning on being there for Nov 27th - Dec 4th. I hope it's not too crowded. Everyone's been telling me what a great time of year with low crowds early Dec is. I think the word has gotten around. Also, if they are already booked it might mean less chance of getting a good discount rate that week. If there are no discounts coming out at that time my room might be available because I won't be able to afford it!

They are all open, exposed to the elements they are also small and strollers have to be folded before boarding.

I couldn't find the best and quickest way to the Storybook Bfast in norway? We have 8:15 reservations, I have never had to go to epcot this early before! Any Ideas?
(I'm Sorry to ask!, it seems like we may have to call this the WL FA-Transportaion-Q thread) ha! ha!
edited to say Taxi or resort bus?

Jonna,

You should be able to catch a resort bus to EPCOT that early...I know that the bus from Wilderness Lodge that goes to TTC starts running at 7:00am So you could always just take that bus to the TTC when just jump on the EPCOT Monorail and be there in a few minutes...once you arrive at EPCOT go the the line on the far right hand side...there will be a sign for guest with PS for Storybook Breakfast/it's also the CM entrance.

Have fun....

Yesterday we recieved a blow by blow report on Hurricane Charley and the direct effect on Wilderness lodge from Lora/BlueOrchid2 she a WL Vet and was at the Lodge when Charley visited following is her report from last night as Charley hit Orlando:

My family and I - DH, DS 13, DD 3, MIL and FIL - are here at the Wilderness Lodge. following is something I posted to some friends on another board.

>>>>we're hanging out in our connecting rooms, with the curtains flung wide open, watching the rain and winds pick up, have the tv on, watching it come get us!!! the eye will be right over disney between 8-10 tonight, as a category 2 hurricane. that's what they're saying anyway. sustaining winds to 100 mph. right now it's a cat 4 hurricane, which is what Andrew was in 1992. It's so exciting. I like storms when i feel safe, and I do feel totally safe here at the wilderness lodge. they've evacuated the fort wilderness campground, which is part of disney, closed all the parks as of 1:00 this afternoon, and didnt' even open the Animal Kingdom Park today. Downtown Disney Market place was also closed all day. We *think* that this is only the 3rd time in disney history that they've closed the parks - 1st for Hurr Andrew in 1992, 2nd on 9/11/01, and today. they've tied up all the hanging lanterns, taped up the glass windows in all the doors, roped down all the benches, brought in the chairs and tables from every balcony in the hotel, and have sandbagged some of the doors.

still here! the worst is over. looking outside, we can see 3 trees down, clumps of spanish moss blown from the trees all over the sidewalks, a piece of guttering blew off the lodge and landed on a lower roofing section. Castmembers came by room to hand out flashlights. I saw another castmember, before the worst of the storm come down the hallway carrying 4 happy meals to a room that must have had some hungry children in it. The daddy that answered the door was VERY grateful to have the food for his kids, as Roaring Forks and the Gift Shop had both been closed up earlier this afternoon. I'm sure WCC and AP were also closed, so no food to be had anywhere here. The baby ducks were on the swimming pool the whole time it was storming, LOL. Lots of leaks from the roof in the lobby, the way it was blowing I'm not surprised. Anxious to get out in the morning and view any other damage there may be.

We are so glad Lora and her family are safe and made it through the storm, I believe Laura & Marco (MICKEY'S DREAMERS) were also still at the Lodge yesterday, and our AspiringCindy is also down at WDW but staying over at the Poly this trip...Hoping all are safe and can now continue with a MAGICAL TRIP...

My prayers also go out to everyone effected by this storm many whom have lost everything.

Just tried to check on Laura & Marco (Mickey's Dreamers) per the front desk at WL they checked out this morning...they should be on their way for their cruise. Smooth sailing...:boat:

Hey all you great WL-lovers...I'm back and in good health:sunny:

My DW and I took the impending storm a lot more seriously than many others down there, because we were scheduled to fly back from Orlando on Friday evening...so we knew late Wednesday that if the storm did hit, it would come at the worst possible time for us. So, we coughed up an extra $120 to Southwest Airlines and were able to get out of town late on Thursday evening prior to the storm (after a 7-hout wait and real concern that we might be stranded at the airport!). We made the right decision, obviously.

Our dear friend whom we met down there remained at Disney, since she wasn't scheduled to fly home until today, and thankfully she did just fine (according to her and not surprisingly, Disney was TERRIFIC in its preparations and treatment of its guests during the storm). She now is lucky enough to "have to" stay until Monday before she can get back home:p

I'll be posting a brief trip report (and a LARGE Web Page of WL pics) sometime next week. Again, thanks for your collective good thoughts and pixie dust...what a wonderful community!

Im glad to hear everything and everyone is ok at the Lodge and WDW after the hurricane. I nearly fainted when I saw that 105mph winds went thru WDW.

Im glad to hear the ducks are ok too.. The lodge isnt the lodge without the ducks in the pool!!

Glad to hear you made it home safe & sound! Can't wait to read your trip report and see those pics!!!

I'm also happy to hear that all seems to have gone well at Disney. My baby sister, who lives in Oviedo - Orlando suburbs - is still without power. But they lost only a skylight, a few roof shingles & had some downed trees, so we're very relieved. Incredible with 105 mph. winds. Our prayers go out though to all those who lost homes or loved ones.

Glad you made it home safely!!!

Hi

KELLY

Yes, Roaring Fork has two areas to sit...there are a few tables in the room where you order the food and a small dining room to the left of the entrance.

All the rooms at Wilderness Lodge have balconies or patios if room is located on the ground level.

Have fun...

Hi my friends! We are just back from a whirlwind trip to WDW. Hubby surprised me with 2-day PH tickets (bought on ebay), and one of those days was Hurricane Charley day so it was cut short. But the best part was that a 2-night stay at WL was part of the deal!!! We drove to Florida this time, a first for us from Kansas City, and when the gatekeeper said, "Welcome Home," I lost it. (just like I'm doing now, typing this).

We got a double upgrade, too! This is the second time this has happened to us, and we feel so fortunate. Hubby had booked a standard view room, and we were put in a courtyard view room, 2019-2021 with our parents. I think this is due to the faxed letters I sent requesting our bunk bed room, and to be connected with our parents. I always try to include a bit of humor in the letters, this time I wrote one from the perspective of my 3 YO daughter. I have pics of views from the rooms, if Majestic Fred is still doing that and needs the views from those rooms for his website.

Also have pics of damage done by Charley at our beloved Lodge. :( Am trying to figure out the best way to show you these, in case anyone wants to see. I got up slightly before dawn on Saturday morning to take pics, just in case Disney magic would have it all cleaned up by daylight. Silly me, didn't realize the extent of damage to the grounds. :( The only damage I saw to any structures was a single piece of guttering that was blown off the main lodge building. But a LOT of trees down, and spanish moss in the pool.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread, it's so huge, but one thing different from our trip to WL last year was that it appears they no longer offer the large size refillable mugs at Roaring Forks. Any questions?

Lora,

First glad you and your family arrived home safe...It was great to hear from you after such a long time...Yes ::yes:: I would love to see your photo's of Wilderness lodge, and also a trip report...:p

Can someone explain to me about rubbing Humphreys nose. I am going back to the Lodge and want to know if I should be doing some rubbing LOL.
Really I dont know what that is about . Ok Stop laughing and start explaining :teeth:

 Incredible pics BluOrchid2! How nice to get a surprise trip.
Thank you for sharing them with all. I have not been to WL yet but am in the shoot, as you can see. Hope it is all Disneyfied by the time we go. Sorry for all of the damage but it looks like they were lucky!
