The New Official Tudors Thread!

I love the Tudors and can't wait for the new season. If you go to Showtime.com they have a open thread for the Tudors. I think you will enjoy it.

I have to disagree with this. I have read quite a bit with Tudor history and I have never heard of him having a venereal disease. And when compared to other kings/nobles, he had a very small number of lovers/affairs.

He did have an ulcer on this leg that never fully healed and would reopen and seep and smell!! It was thought that a jousting accident that happened towards the end of his marriage to Anne Boleyn caused it. Some think he also received an undiagnosed head injury that perhaps gave him brain damage and caused his mood swings and other behavior issues. That is also why he gained weight since his leg bothered him so much he couldn't really exercise.

That is why his last wife was so compatible to him. She was more of a nursemaid than a wife.

I do love this series though. Even if I have to stop myself from cringing at all the changes they have made to the real history.

Is this the end of the series, will they continue on with his children? Their history is just as fascinating as Henry's.

I've read a lot about the Tudor period as well and I always understood that it was believed that Henry had syphilis. That was another possible explination for why he became such a tyrant in his later years. Because of the joustin accident when he forgot to lower his face shield (this really happened) he did get a head injury and suffered from severe headaches all his life. This is another explination for his moods.

:woohoo: SUNDAY :woohoo:

"Don't miss the season 4 premiere Sunday night at 9 PM ET/PT followed by a first look at Michael Hirst's new show The Borgia's only on Showtime.

In episode 401, the fourth season premiere, King Henry 8 marries his fifth queen, a lusty teenager whose beauty and checkered past inflame the passions of a trusted courtier, Thomas Culpepper".

For anyone who has seen the first episode already, were you a little shocked by Culpepper? I was unaware of his history, so that scene (you'll know what I'm talking about) was a shocker for me. I almost liked him.

I LOVE The Tudors...but we don't have Showtime ATM :sad1:. I love that they put the first ep online for free though!!

Arg! I know what you are talking about. I found that scene hard to watch. Is all of that true? I wonder why they put that in if it isn't. Seems unecessary.

I don't have Showtime either, but you can usually find it online somewhere right after the episode airs. Just google Watch the Tudors, that was how I saw all of Season 3, until it was released on DVD.

Is all of that true?

I'm not entirely sure, so don't quote me on it, but I believe he was accused though never charged for that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Before, I had thought he was just some love-sick kid who was in over his head, now I can drop the love part, he's just sick.

GREAT first epi. ITA about Culpepper ... omg, that was AWFUL. And then the husband ... those scenes were extremely hard to watch.

Edward is a love. Mary is the best. Elizabeth is a sweetheart.

The new Queen is so flighty ... but if she makes Henry happy then so be it.

Does anyone else (or is it just me) have to use your tv's subtitles while watching this show ... they talk to fast and w/their accents.

The previews for the TUDOR season look amazing. AND I loved the preview of the new 2011 show by Michael Hirst, THE BORGIA's. :thumbsup2

I was shocked at the Culpepper scene and disappointed that there wasn't more of Henry Cavill. I need my eye candy.

I've gotten so use to watching BBCA that the accents don't bother me.

As for making Henry happy...not for long. To quote the Queen of Hearts "Off with your head!"

Did anyone notice the way the king stared at Elizabeth when she met Katherine? He sort of lingered on her. What do you think his character was thinking?

He was probably thinking of her mother.

Of all his wives, I think the only one he truely loved was Anne Boleyn. I believe he was thinking of Elizabeth's mother.

Ok TUDOR'S fans, has anyone been watching?

Does anyone know who wrote the letter to the King about Queen Katherine? They did not reveal that last night.

Last night was hard to watch ... a really bloody mess.

I agree, last night's episode was difficult to watch, I'm sure I'll have nightmares again, like I did after Cromwell's execution.

And I believe it was Archbishop Cranmer, who seems to have disappeared this season, who wrote the letter. Although I think he got the information from someone else.

And I just have to say, I was a little surprised that they had her say that she would rather die the wife of Culpepper :confused3 I thought that was completely legend. Then again, the show certainly has taken liberties with history so....

:confused3I thought Katherine really did say that.

But it didn't seem like Henry was very effected by it all. He was supposed to have openly cried about it and been inconsolable for a little bit. They completely ignored that and he even had that odd woman party, or whatever that was. Odd
