The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

We could use all the prayers you could send our way right now. Friday night, DH lost his job. There was no reason. No warning. No Nothing. He was called at 10:30 at night and told they weren't happy with him. Which is really funny since not even two weeks ago, they said he was one of the best Blaster they have ever seen! Yes, we are going to look into Wrongful Termination. We believe he has strong grounds for it.

Jobs lose aside, we are okay. We know God has a plan and that everything will work out in the end. Financially, we are okay to. Atleast for a little bit. But, if he doesn't get a job soon, we are going to have to cancel our trip. I really hate to, but we have to be responsible. Disney, regardless of what my brain tells me, isn't a requirement. And it isn't like this is our first (or last) trip. But it was going to be a special trip. And it hurts a bit to cancel. But as life, poop happens!

And since we finally told the kids and told them the surprises we had planned, I will share with you all too. We changed our resort back in July to the Poly. Both DDs really have wanted to stay there for a long time. It isn't my fav but this trip was suppose to be special, so I really wanted to surprise them and stay there. We also changed our ADRs some. We changed arrival night to Grand Floridian Cafe. It is DD1 favorite place on property. We ordered her a bday cake to be made by the GF bakery. It was going to be a Alice in Wonderland themed Mad Hatter shaped cake. We moved our Yachtsman to Friday night and canceled our Candlelight Processional Package. And for DD2, we canceled Cape May breakfast on Thanksgiving and changed it back to Chef Mickeys. We had literally made this the perfect trip for our kids.... Oh well, if things don't work out, we can do it again next time.

It sucks. But life goes on. As the saying goes, "If he brings you to it, he will bring you through it!" I keep repeating that. And "Theres A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow...."

Oh No!! I'm way behind in my posts, but I just read your bad news. I'm sooo sorry. This totally sucks! Try to stay hopeful. You know what they say..."When God closes one door, he opens a window". Hopefully you'll find that window and when you look through you'll be seeing the castle! My family and I are having dinner at Chef Mickey's on Thanksgiving.. I think it would be great if we were there at the same time. We could meet. I hope you don't have to give up the trip. Maybe you can move to a moderate. They're really quite nice... and its still at Disney. Even the value Pop Century is loads of fun and cheap enough. Prayers to :hug:you!

PS: Started my August trip report... the link is in my signature line now.

We were in the car the other night having a family Disney discussion and a question came up which I am posting as a QOTD
QOTD: If you were stuck in a park for the night, where would you choose to sleep (in each Park)?
This is what we came up with-
MK- Cinderella's castle or the cars from Space Mt.
EPCOT- The Norway boats or in one of the displays in The Land
HS- Under the big hat (DS6) or in one of the caves at The Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground
AK- we didn't get this far, but maybe in It's Tough to be a Bug 9on the benches)

The custom autograph books I made for the kids from artscow came today! So cute! I decorated one page and put pictures with each character throughout the years and then put an autograph page on the opposite side. They have a star on the calendar tomorrow, so I have to wait until then to show them!

QOTD: If you were stuck in a park for the night, where would you choose to sleep (in each Park)?

MK-Jungle Cruise boat- separate beds for all of us
EP- Spaceship Earth (DS9)- so he would be first in line the next morning
AK- Kali River Rapids- takes care of the shower in the morning, too!
HS- Muppet 3D- comfy seats

31 days until we see the MOUSE:cool1:
21 DAYS until I STALK the weather forcast :surfweb:, and by then I'll be joining the single digit dance

I need HELP!!!! :dance3:

Our travel documents came today!:cool1: I wonder if dh has figured out yet, or if he is playing me?:rolleyes1. I really can't wait :woohoo:

Jessica - I'm sorry to hear about your DH's job situation. Not to minimize the situation, but I've heard more and more stories like yours where senior management makes these WACKED decisions that leave everyone DUMBFOUNDED. I really hope all the sincere prayers that we're all sending help!

My family got some sad news, too. My grandfather passed away Sunday. He was 90 and his health took a serious turn for the worse a week earlier. Thankfully, my grandmother is doing extremely well - she obviously prepared herself for this and truly believes he is in a better place. And she was exhausted, worried about him in the past couple of years as his demensia got worse. But we were very blessed to have him in our lives, and in our kids' lives, for so many years. We were planning to visit my grandparents at their new apartment in Winterhaven before we drove into WDW, but now we'll visit my grandmother and share happy memories!

On a completely different note, I received my $100 Disney gift card today for signing up with Chase Disney Rewards Visa as a DVC member! :thumbsup2

Just found out today that the TA has our documents so I just need to pick them up - which I can't do till the weekend... so close yet so far away!

Now that I found out that I didn't make it to round 2 of the Moms Panel I can focus on my trip planning;)!

Our home resort is SSR. I have read a lot of negative reviews here about it, but we love it. We love being so close to DTD and always ask to be in congress park so we can walk over. We are going to be buying more points soon and I think for simplicity sake we will buy at SSR again.
We have gotten to stay at SSR, BWV, BCV, and have done 2 disney cruises! Did I say how much I LOVE my DVC membership?!?

Isn't DVC the BEST!!!! :cloud9: We are also owners at Saratoga and it is my favorite resort. I'm really a turn-of-the-century kinda gal, so I go for the themeing at SSR over the shiny sterile look of Bay Lake Tower, not that it isn't nice too. I have never stayed at Boardwalk or Beach Club, but I think the hustle and bustle would turn me off a little. I like coming back to the serene quiet atmosphere at SSR after a busy day in the parks. And that Maniacal Clown pool at BWV!:sad2: Scary!! I also like the location close to DTD. I love taking a walk over there in the evening. We always request the Grandstand area because I love the pool over there, it has a horse head water play area that my daughter loves, and a full service pool bar with drinks and food. Its further of a walk to DTD, but hey! If I'm heading to DTD, chances are I'm gonna eat something that needs walking off!:rotfl2:

After completing radiation treatments last week my mother's health declined drastically and last night she died peacefully at hospice.

Lori and Summerlady- So sorry for both of your losses, you will be in my thoughts!
Mindy- We have never been over to the Grandstand pool area, we'll have to check it out this time. We love Congress Park, mostly because of the location, but you're right about always needing to walk off something you ate. We love Earl of Sandwich and can't go to the area without our complimentary Giardeli chocolate!

It is so hard to lose someone when it seemed they were getting better. I'm glad she died peacefully. We used hospice for my mother-in-law (here at ourhome) and she died less than two months ago. So I can relate a little to what you are feeling. Cherish your memories.
