Yes they did. River Country was still there in 1989 because it was there in 1990 when we went. But the last time I went to a Disney water park it was in 1984 at River Country. I REALLY miss that one! I think they way it worked, the water from Seven Seas Lagoon drained into it or it drained into the lagoon. With the dangerous amoebas in the water now, I can see why they closed it. We were originally planning to do a water park this year, but since we've been hit by so many sudden big ticket items and the 100degree+ temps sent my electric bill through the roof

(big house--two units)... No... we will have to skip that. This is now going to be the Disney budget trip.
Maybe in another year.... maybe when DD8 can swim.
edit: by this trip... I mean my August trip not this November trip. Its really a bit chilly in the air in November except at mid day to do waterparks... in my opinion.
