You'll be arriving at POFQ the day before I'm leaving. Oh, I don't even like thinking about leaving.

New QUESTION OF THE DAY!

What is your favorite water park at Disney and do you go every trip?

We LOVE LOVE LOVE water parks! Once upon a time, I would have said Typhoon Lagoon was my favorite. But since all the sand on the bottom of the wave pool disappeared with the 90s, I hate even going in it. It hurts! We sometimes go there for Crushin Gusher and Shark Reef, but its more like every other trip. We love Blizzard Beach now! It has a much better little big kids area. DD2 stays in it. DH and DD1 stay on the slides. I personally prefer the lazy river! DD2 recently started going down water slides, so I am sure she would enjoy BB more now.

We have never been to a water park at WDW. Even 2 years in a row in May when we had free upgraded tickets to the WP&More! The kids have just never asked, so I have never mentioned it. DS8 is not very brave in the water and probably wouldn't do any of the slides. DH is not a water person at all. DS11 I'm sure would enjoy it. And I love the water, but hate walking around wet!

Maybe someday. . . If I were to pick one to go to it would be Blizzard Beach!

What is your favorite water park at Disney and do you go every trip?

The first time we went to Disney in April of 1989 there were no water parks, my DS's wanted to go to Wet and Wild but we did not take them.
The following year when we visited Typoon Lagoon was open and we went that year and two or three more times in later years, DS's loved the wave pool and the kwowabunga slide(however it is spelled) I enjoyed grabbing a tube and floating around the river(I don't swim) and DH just waited on the sidelines(party pooper)
Have never been to Blizzard Beach and have not gone back to Typoon Lagoon since the mid-90's and honestly don't plan on it this trip either.

I believe I read that Typoon Lagoon is closed this November while we are at Disney.

I forgot to mention that I really miss River Country! River Country was great! I loved the zip line. And the slides coming off the hill that just dropped you in the water. Such fun times! That was actually the first water park I made DH go to when we went before we were married. All 3 WP were open then, but River Country was my fav of them all! I can't believe I actually forgot about it....

We've never been to one of the waterparks, in 2008 we even had free park hoppers, water parks and more and didn't even go. Crazy, eh?

We're just not big on water parks at all, DD is divorced and her ex is a water park person (among other things ), so when DGD travels to WDW with us we just skip 'em because she goes often with her dad.

For Water Parks we LOVE Blizzard Beach the most! The family raft ride is great, and you don't have to haul your tubes up the stairs there.

My kids like Typoon Lagoon because of the big slide (no idea how to spell this) Humonga Kowabunga. They ride it over, and over, and over... But I really don't like that park much at all. The wave pool is DANGEROUS and you have to carry your tubes up the stairs.

The kids would like to go every time, but this year I talked them into a day at Universal instead of adding WP&more to our tickets! I'm so happy that I wont have to spend HOURS at Disney Quest!

QOTD- We've only been to Typhoon Lagoon once (when oldest DS was 3). We did enjoy it, but haven't made it back. My DS6 just finally started liking the water this summer, now you can't get him out of the pool!
We usually travel late fall and the weather hasn't been great for a whole day of water. I haven't spent the money for the upgrade on our season passes in a couple years (we actually used to use them for DisneyQuest a lot rather than water parks.) For any who haven't been DisneyQuest is awesome!

Does anyone else do a 100 day countdown calendar? I'm going to do some more work on mine today. I usually just make a big chart on poster board and put stickers on each day, but this year I'm going to make a really nice one with velcro on the numbers so I can use it again.
I know 100 days seems like a lot, but we are always amazed at how quickly it goes!!

When we traveled in the summer we went to the water parks. Blizzard Beach was our fav. In fact if my mother had it her way, we'd be going there in November. She's out numbered though and we aren't not going to water parks this trip. We dont want to give up a day in the parks.

They sure are fun though!

Today he is hurting and much more swollen. I'm going to keep him on schedule with his vicodin and ibuprofen to help with that. Doesn't want to eat.

OMG, my only suggestion is to make him eat SOMETHING. When I was 17 I had all four cut out. Was so heavily sedated I don't recall leaving the office. I vaguely recall the sight of trees and powerlines as we turned into our neighborhood and mom told me we were almost home, then I woke up in her recliner. Anyway, about all I ate that evening was some applesauce, and despite sleeping in the recliner swallowed a lot of blood in my sleep that night. Woke up nauseous and threw up over the incisions. One of the most miserable things ever.

I find it comical how Dr's say to do this or don't do this, something like bending is second nature you don't even think about it until there you are bending over , not to mention if you are not suppose to bend over that is when you will drop everything

OMG so true! I had a medication pump implanted in my abdomen, and one of my instructions was no twisting or bending for six weeks. Six weeks! First of all, it's very difficult to do wheelchair transfers w/o twisting, and then to have to take care of a 2yo as well? Ha!

I've only ever been to Typhoon Lagoon, back in 1990. The most memorable part of that day was my dad spending so much time on the lazy river that he burned the tops of his feet, and had to drive from Orlando to Baton Rouge in only socks. So don't forget to sunscreen your feet!

I wanted to do a 100-day countdown, but DD's driving me crazy enough as it is, not being able to understand the passage of time at only two. I may do a 30 day, but nothing longer until she's older.

Yes they did. River Country was still there in 1989 because it was there in 1990 when we went. But the last time I went to a Disney water park it was in 1984 at River Country. I REALLY miss that one! I think they way it worked, the water from Seven Seas Lagoon drained into it or it drained into the lagoon. With the dangerous amoebas in the water now, I can see why they closed it. We were originally planning to do a water park this year, but since we've been hit by so many sudden big ticket items and the 100degree+ temps sent my electric bill through the roof (big house--two units)... No... we will have to skip that. This is now going to be the Disney budget trip.

Maybe in another year.... maybe when DD8 can swim.

edit: by this trip... I mean my August trip not this November trip. Its really a bit chilly in the air in November except at mid day to do waterparks... in my opinion.

I didn't do a countdown calendar for our first trip but last night as I was lying awake in bed (with visions of WDW dancing in my head!) I thought about doing a 100 day countdown calendar. So that's what I'm going to do! LOL

I found some really cool numbers on somebody's 4shared file and I'm going to print them out and use them. I'll probably glue them to Mickey Heads and then glue that onto some poster board and decorate the poster board with stickers.

No, you didn't have to be staying at Ft. Wilderness. When I went to River Country in 1984, it was a day trip with a friend who lived within an hour or so of the parks.

My first visits as a child we always stayed at Holiday Inns and the like, probably in nearby Kissimee. As a college student it was that day trip. As an adult with our first child, that first family trip we stayed at the home of a friend who is a cast member (has been for 21 years now), 2nd trip we stayed at a Quality Inn that was too far from the main gate. Finally on our 3rd family visit when we by then had 3 children, we stayed at the All Star Music, then for a trip with my youngest daughter, my sis and her son we stayed at the Pop. After that we joined DVC and started staying at Saratoga. We did try Old Key West, but don't like the layout. Its not walking friendly. Whenever we stay non-DVC now, we do Pop. Its a fun resort.
