Question of the Day ~

If you could change something at Disney what would it be?

Mine would be that they would sell Pepsi products instead of Coke. I need my Mtn. Dew!!! :hyper:

Our family agrees!

In fact we take Mt Dew with us. That way we can at least have some in the room.

Last year my dad said "I've had so much Coke so I got a Root Beer. I think it even tastes like Coke". LOL

Id also like to see resort specfic mugs again...for my Mt Dew! :thumbsup2

Okay just got off the phone and we did make the change.... it seems I was the only one in the house excited about staying at the Yacth Club so it didn't really matter... my DD says she love POR so thats where we went... and it reduced the cost of the trip by $1100.... so I guess I am okay with that!!!!!

:thumbsup2 $1100 is a nice savings, we were orignally going to try POR this trip, we stayed at POFQ years ago, then Disney sent me the 20/30/40 pin and we decided to go with AKL , then DS and his wife wanted to join us so we upgraded again to a villa, if it were just DH and myself going this trip I would seriously consider changeing to a mod but we would need to get two rooms at a mod, so there would go the savings with the FD.
Glad it worked out for you

Hmmm...yeah, I would LOVE to be able to get a Dr.Pepper every now and again...and as no one there really knows how to make SWEET TEA, I drink more water than I care to while there!!! After a while, you just get sick of water...I hate coke, and sprite is for when you have a virus!!!! LOL!!!
Also...this is being serious now,..I wish they would make more family suites, or a level of Deluxe that is reeeaaaally deluxe if we are gonna be out that kind of money. We have 3 kids so our options are limited...might as well do one deluxe room as 2 adjoining ones...at least we are in close proximity to the parks with deluxe rooms. Good question!!!

I am so with you on the Dr Pepper. Although I did discover on our last trip in January that the Fort Wilderness restaurant has DP. As this has become our staple place to stay it works out well for me! :goodvibes

With four children myself, I can also agree with you on your second point. Again staying at a Fort Wilderness cabin seems to be working well for us, but I would really like some other options. (But we also like the cabins due to it providing a lil more privacy, so the other options would have to be pretty good to give up that.)

I want a character dinner, with the fab five, that is NOT on the dining plan :) And has seafood.

I would change the way the Dining Plan is offered, so that you did not have to purchase it for every person in your room, and also not for the entire length of stay , would be nice if we could purchase it just for DH and myself and just for part of our days in case we were going to be offsite for a day or two during our stay.

I agree with that. The DP would suit my BF more then it would suit me. I also wish it would include appetizers again and bottled water would be included as choice of drink.

Speaking of bottled water, does anyone know if the restaurants (TS) in Disney offer Perrier as a choice? I rencently stopped drinking diet soft drinks because of the aspartame in it, and being diabetic I do not drink reg soft drinks or alcaholic drinks, so I either drink water or Perrier when I go out to eat.

Aw yes, remember the days when the DDP included an appetizer, your meal, a dessert, a drink, AND a tip??? Those were the days. :cloud9:

I read on a thread that possibly next year it won't include a dessert. So meal and drink. Not a good deal.

COFFEE!!!! We need Starbucks at WDW!!!! :surfweb:

Aw yes, remember the days when the DDP included an appetizer, your meal, a dessert, a drink, AND a tip??? Those were the days. :cloud9:

We didn't know how good we had it, did we? :confused3 I would gladly take back the poor waiter-service for free appetizers & tips! (And remember, they only dropped the DDP price by $1 when they implemented the new plan????) :furious: (and please know, I RARELY use the "furious face") :rotfl:

I would also make it where the DDP was accepted EVERYWHERE on WDW property. I hate that not all restaurants take it. And what REALLY bugs me about it is this: when we're at the waterparks or DTD, almost none of the little kiosks accept DDP.

And prayer going up for all of you with surgeries :littleangel:

Oh yes, the DDP. Lots of changes could be made there. Number one being that a tiny 10 year old picky eater should not be charged as an adult!!!

Completely agree! DGD is turning 10 in August and I KNOW she'll never be able or willing to eat the amount of food you get with the DDP. Last year, I shared my desserts with her because she was sick of grapes and cookies after a couple of days, and I know we'll be paying OOP for some kids' meals and using the credits for breakfasts at the food court now that she's an "adult".

This will be our 1st trip back to Walt Disney World since 1996.

:lmao: I keep it in my lanyard with my park tickets and fast passes. :thumbsup2

Hey, that is a good idea! I don't usually have a lanyard on. I used to wear my pin lanyard, but after the incident when a few fell off and I had to back track all my steps around AK (actually found them), I decided not to. My DH wears a little plastic clear box thingie (don't know what its called) that is on a black rope that has just enough room for our AP's, room cards, and fast passes. I hate things around my neck and I will always carry some kind of purse.. so my room key goes in my purse. He does keep my park pass so its handier.

Amen!

I feel like my Diet Mt. Dew is contraband at WDW. I bring it with me anyway.

It is....:guilty: This is a Coke park... ya gotta love it!! ;)

LOL!!!

the other part of Pop Century that never got finished (the empty paintless buildings across the lake) are being re-imagined and finished. They will be a family suites resort called Art of Animation. Although, I think the themeing is too close to AllStar Music. This will be a Value Resort and will be priced accordingly, but hopefully that will bring the cost of all the family suites down because they're pricier than staying in 2 value rooms, although I'm not sure how they'd compare to a 1 bedroom villa (which only sleeps 4 or 5 anyway).

Please place Dr. Pepper in a Disney Refillable Mug and nobody notices...:rolleyes1 This will not work with Mt. Dew because...:rotfl2: its not as cool as Dr. Pepper.

Congrats Wendy ~ that's a lot of money saved!! And POR is wonderful! :goodvibes

I have to try not to think of the money we could save by switching to a moderate! It's hard not to think about it, especially when we would be perfectly happy to go back to CBR or POR. BUT - I have wanted to try a deluxe forever and always back out, so this time I am doing it!!!

How long is your forever? I've been wanting to try a deluxe since 1972!! I'm still waiting.:bored: We stay DVC regularly, and that is technically Deluxe.. but it doesn't have daily mousekeeping and has more of a home feel. Some day, just once, at least, I'd like to stay at the Poly! DH stayed at the Contemporary in January 72, right after it opened. So, I'm well over due.

Oh yes, the DDP. Lots of changes could be made there. Number one being that a tiny 10 year old picky eater should not be charged as an adult!!!

Amen!! One trip I went on with my sister when her DS had just turned 10. He had to have an adult meal for the meal plan, which is what we had to pay for. Fine... but the boy was not just such a picky picky, eater, but didn't eat much, and didn't have adult tastes. He didn't like most of what was on the menu. He wanted pizza, chicken nuggests, PB&J!! At one ADR we had at Spoodles, he didn't like anything on the adult menu, so the server offered to bring him a kids pizza instead. She still had to deduct one adult meal allotment from our meal allotment, but at least he got something he would eat. Even then, the pizza was WAY bigger. He ate less than 1/4 of it. My DD,41/2 at the time, was asleep in her stroller during the whole meal. We took hers in a box, but honestly, the two of them could have shared the one kids pizza and still had leftover. She is 8 now, and rarely eats a whole kids meal even. I would never consider using the meal plan when she turns 10. I'd wait again until she eats adult food. My nephew is now 14 and still sometimes prefers the kids food options, but at least he can eat it all now. Most of the time. I think for the meal plan at least, they should allow parents to choose the kids plan for children under 14. Maybe give the parents an option for 10-13 year olds, which meal plan adult or child, works for their individual child.

Welcome back!!!

Last year was our first time back in 10 years! It was even more magical then ever!

Who ever made a child at 10 year olds an adult is crazy!!!

Remember when they used to have junior?

I completely agree! I'm usually OK with the Coke for a while, but after a few days I start REALLY craving Dr. Pepper! And you're right about the sweet tea. We're from TN and we KNOW how to make good sweet tea. But we're not brave enough to try anything labeled sweet tea down there since I'm guessing it won't taste right! :goodvibes

Question of the Day ~

If you could change something at Disney what would it be?

Personally, I would add more options to the kids' Counter Service menus! We're doing the QSDP in Nov. and I'm dreading watching what my kids will eat all week. Right now, I'm looking at all the menus for each of the QS restaurants in each of the parks just to try to avoid having chicken nuggets twice a day for eight days. I know there are usually "other" options, but nothing that my kids will eat (they're SOOOO picky!). So we have to strategize our restaurant plans every day to break up their basic food groups of chicken nuggets, hot dogs and pizza!

:welcome: to our thread and back to Disney!!

How long is your forever? I've been wanting to try a deluxe since 1972!! Some day, just once, at least, I'd like to stay at the Poly! DH stayed at the Contemporary in January 72, right after it opened. So, I'm well over due.

Well maybe not quite that long!:rotfl:

We did stay at OKW for a few nights in November, but it didn't really feel deluxe to me.

I have been wanting to stay at the Poly since we started going to WDW in 2005. But when we finally decided to break down and fork out the cash for a deluxe I changed my mind and went with the Boardwalk!! :goodvibes

Who ever made a child at 10 year olds an adult is crazy!!!

Remember when they used to have junior?

I don't remember that. Must have been before my Disney time. A junior price would be great!

Personally, I would add more options to the kids' Counter Service menus! We're doing the QSDP in Nov. and I'm dreading watching what my kids will eat all week. Oh I would love more options for kids!! My poor DS8 is so picky and gets so tired of eating those nasty chicken nuggets all week! I have started packing his favorite strawberry jam & bread and bringing it with us. He's happy to eat that in the room before we go out for dinner and then he just gets a dessert while we eat our dinner! At least I know he will eat that and get his belly full.

You know, that's a great idea! I hadn't even thought about taking stuff to pack a lunch for them every now and then. They'd be thrilled if I pulled out a PBJ and a bag of Doritos or Cheetos for them to eat for lunch. Then, they could use their extra QS credits to get a bigger breakfast at Pop so they weren't stuck eating Poptarts all week for breakfast! Thank you so much for the suggestion!!

You're welcome!

My youngest has some food/sensory issues, so I have to get creative when we are away from home. I just started doing this about 3 WDW trips ago and it works great! (And - Pringles chips travel well in those canisters they come in!)

All week at Disney I live on the Diet Lemonade and DD8 lives on the regular lemonade. I'm from the DC area. Sweet Tea = lots of Sweet N Low! :rotfl2:

I agree about the choices for kids meals. DD is so picky, we call her the dairy kid because what she'll eat, all falls under that category, except for hot dogs. Thanks goodness she likes lemonade and iced sweet tea because a week of a kid on Coca Cola will be :crazy2:

DS was 10 last November and we were there on free dining. He ordered off of the kids menu EVERY single meal! They had to deduct Adult TS credits and it didn't matter to us since we were there on FD. But if we had paid for the DDP I would have been mad!! :furious:

When that happened to us, we had paid for the meal plan! :sad2: We also opted for the room discount over the free dining. We'd also have had to break our vacation into 2 reservations to do FD because we're arriving the 11th. We don't even do buffets anymore. Except for Character breakfasts, which she'll at least eat a decent amount (loves breakfast food), which I make a sacrafice for. We've been burned too many times. I once did the Fantasmic meal package at Hollywood & Vine and DD ate exactly 1 piece of bread and 1 rice krispie treat! What a waste of money. This Nov. we have a Fantasmic dinner package but we've got Mama Melrose because she can order a kids meal off the menu.

AAA always still quotes a vacation for a family of 4 as including 2 adults, 1 junior and 1 child. I always wondered HOW that teen was a junior when ticketing and meals use a 10 year old as an adult.:scared1:

Good idea.... my DD8 could do with jam & toast!

You're welcome!

My youngest has some food/sensory issues, so I have to get creative when we are away from home. I just started doing this about 3 WDW trips ago and it works great! (And - Pringles chips travel well in those canisters they come in!)

My DD8 has issues with fruits and says that they make the inside of her "neck..i.e.throat" itchy! And vegetables are on her list of foreign invaders:sad2:

I am worried:( My DH and I took our son for his first trip in 2008 at age 4 and we went the first week of February and had a fabulous time. The lines were short and weather was cool and comfortable. We then came back at age 6 the week after Presidents day and it was super busy. We were spoiled by the short lines and no crowd from our trip before and my DH advised would not come back:( Well........ I talked him in to a short trip the first weekend of November. Thought the crowds would be small again:) Not concerned with the F & WF but concerned about Jersey week! Should I change dates?
We love WDW but I'm concerned if we have hit another time with 2 hr lines and FP sold out he won't come back! Help!
