Happy Monday everyone! Just checking in after our weekend camping. It went way better than DH & I expected, both in terms of me being in the wheelchair, and DD's general two-ness and never having camped before. I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Re: the QOTD, I've already started gathering things. There are a lot of little things we'll need (water bottles, emergency ponchos, travel toiletry bottles, etc) so I'm accumulating them over time and throwing them in the "Disney box." I'll probably start ordering t-shirts (at least for DH and I) soon and tossing them in as well. I'd like to start shopping for DD, but at 2 1/2 I have no idea what size she'll be in come November.

Wow... I feel like a slacker now. I usually start packing about a week before leaving but not seriously until 2 days before I leave. That goes for any trip.

Now I do start making a mental list before that but packing is like a last minute thing for some reason - it always has been for me

Glad to hear you had such a nice time camping this weekend! :goodvibes

Love your "two-ness" word! :lmao: I sure remember those days. :faint:

No, you're not a slacker. You just don't have packing OCD like some of us!! :rotfl:

Haha... I will admit to being an over-packer though. Even if I'm going over night somewhere I bring at least 2 shirts, 3 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of pants/skirts. I expect to have 14 shirts for my 7 day trip packed

My oldest just did that...and shoes!!! Man..that will be closer to Nov for sure...the little Disney t's I just bought dd are a bit big now...not a lot, just roomy, so she will be fine...it's the boys I worry about!!!!

In May, she was just under 5'5" and 112lbs, size 9-91/2 shoe. As of last week, she is 5'6" 1/2, closer to 5'7"! 118lb and size 10 shoe! Her bathing suit we bought in May doesn't fit anymore. I am glad I didn't get her alot of summer shorts yet and what we did get were more "gym" type shorts since she plays sports. I hate to see what she will be like in Nov! My 8 year old seems to never grow! She was a 5/6 girls for like 3 years! She has finally hit 7! But even some of those are to loose in her waist.

And on the luggage topic, when we first married my mom bought me a very nice Samsonite 3 pc set for around $350. With DH being in the Army and us being so far away, my family flew me and DD home alot. Our luggage fell apart fairly rapidly! 4 year ago I got a American Tourister 7pc set at Sears for $89. It has held up very very well. It still looks brand new. Granted, it only gets used twice a year, but even still, I believe it would have held up better then the Samsonite set.

Well I am guilty of both -- OCD early packing and overpacking!!!

What can I say, I like to have options! I will probably pack twice as many shirts than I will need. Same with shoes! :rotfl:

This sounds just like me. I know I won't "need" all the clothes I pack, but I just never know what I might be in the mood to wear and need to have plenty of options to cover all moods. :lmao:;)

Question of the Day. . . . .

How early do you start to pack for your Disney trip?

I already have a box started for our Thanksgiving trip....glow-in-the-dark bracelets/necklaces, art notepads, Disney coloring & sticker books, stuff to hang in our resort windows, etc... :rolleyes1

I'm usually COMPLETELY packed about 2 weeks before our trip. I buy tons of the 2-gallon ziploc bags & pack 1 per person, per day (labeled.) It makes it SO much easier when we are rushing each am to get out the door! :yay: This year will be interesting, since I've never been in cold weather. I'm wondering if I have to pack for cold AND hot weather?

The only "cold" day we had last November was about 65 degrees! The rest were 75-82 each day. :goodvibes The evenings were a little cooler naturally, but a light jacket was sufficient!

Hopefully this year will be the same! :wizard:

Those airport workers sure are rough on luggage! SW broke my handle off and ripped the back out of the suitcase. :sad2:

I always cringe when I am looking out the window at the airport and watching them heaving luggage onto the plain. :scared1:

This suitcase I had since 2005 so I have gotton my money for it , but I have been wanting a hardsided Heys had my eye on leopord print but as luck would have it that one was sold out by time it went on sale so I went with the zebra print...DH is going to die since when I showed them to him he said just don't get the zebra it is ugly :lmao:
The one I really wanted was from what Heys calls the Britto collection it they look like pop art from the 60's but also cost like $300 and I just can not pay that for a suitcase that might be distroyed.

Years ago when we got one of our suitcases off the turnsile the handle was broken and as my son quite loudly stood there complaining he was about 13 at the time, an airport employee told us to go file a claim which is exactly what we did. We went directly to the Delta office right then and there they issued us a form to take to one of the luggage places on the list they gave us to have the handle fixed. I have to say I was impressed but when they broke the foot off my current suitcase I was too tired to bother after flying all night on the red eye from LA to Connecticut. :)

hi,
so excited just booked our trip for november, 150 days left, woohoo! we are staying november 19-24th and will be the first time seeing the christmas decorations up! what is the weather normally at that time for orlando? does anyone have any good ideas in how to keep the magic going until its time to go because I have a 5 year old who looves disney?!

I use to pack heavy too at least one outfit a day plus a spare or two  and the worst thing is I use to always do laundry before heading home , but last year I packed lighter knowing I would end up buying at least one maybe two shirts while in WDW and this year I am planning on packing very light since we will have a washer/dryer available in the villa...this trip is going to spoil me for sure, no more planning a pool day time to do laundry (last year my Ddil did the laundry) :cool1:

I do need to start a packing list so I can check off what I still need to buy/pack for the trip.

That sounds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! :dance3: I LOVE looking at all the pics showing guests in LONG sleeves! I cannot wait :cheer2:

We were there the first full week of Dec and it was shorts and tees most days...some were cool...nights were pants and light jackets. I did all shorts in November before! Hoping the next November is warm...not tooo hot mind you!

:welcome:

The weather was pretty perfect last November. :goodvibes Not too hot, not too cold!

Yes, it was so nice to not be sweating the entire week. We were used to May and October when it was extremely hot. Then we went in January once and it was hit or miss, some days were 80 some were 50. So November is just right! :goodvibes

What resort are you staying at? You will love the Christmas decorations, it's extra magic! :wizard:

The days tend to be shorts and t-shirt weather and nights could be shorts/t-shirts or jeans and light shirts. Back in 2000 we wore jeans at night but our last trip only one night was cool enough we needed jeans..and I am always cold  My son was 5 the last time we went and he and I would look at old pics of Disney from when I had gone, or we would look at the brochures or look at Picture of the Day threads right here on disboards. There is also a Hidden Mickey thread too, which my son was obsessed with. He pointed out all kinds of hidden mickey's when we were there. Hope that helps. :flower3:

But you're from southeast Texas, so 80 degrees is pants & light jacket, right? :rotfl: I'm a Texas girl, too, & I'm SO ready for winter already :headache:

I did this our last trip and I am so glad I did!!! When we got home instead of having to throw everything in the laundry room and start washing, we were able to just pull out stuff and put it away. It was awesome!! :thumbsup2 Best part was that is wasn't even a hassle. I just kind of did a load each day during our down time the last few days and voila, no dirty clothes to take home!!:yay: I will definitely do it again on this trip!

We are staying at the All Star Movies resort! this will be our second time staying here and am hoping to stay in the Toy Story section as we had requested since we just saw the new movie and loved it! thanks i will definitely think about the hidden mickeys. I think I'm more excited than she is right now but its still far in adavance so she'll probably get excited once it gets closer!

Ok ladies if I missed the QOTD for today, sorry. If not......

What is something you have always wanted to see or experience at WDW but have not got a chance to yet? (Are you planning on doing it this trip?)

Since I was a lil girl first going through the Contemporary I have wanted to stay there. Thus far, it is still out of my budget, but I am sure one day.... :goodvibes

More recently I have been wanting to try out the segway tours but I am waiting until the kids are older so we can all do it at one time.
