I agree that the Ascics Cumulus have changed in the latest version! I had to try to find more of the 13's in my size, and they are doing much better than the 14's. I feel like the heel is just a tad too high, and they seem to be a bit roomier than the 13's. I bought two more pair of the 13's so they will get me thru the next two half marathons...and then I'll have to find a new style.

The heel was the first thing I hated about them (that doesn't make sense since I bought them but...). Being a 5Finger girl, I knew I'd have to get used to more of a bulky heavy shoe but when I put these on, the huge heel turned me off immediately and I almost took them right off. But I stood up and decided o give them a chance. But I did not like that heel business!!

I read that they changed the heel to toe drop too which I'm sure just takes some getting used to, but for me the biggest difference I noticed was the cushion...seems like that just aren't nearly as cushiony, which was the main selling point of the Cumulus in the first place. Oh well, I'll probably try to find some more 13's too...hopefully a lot of people don't agree with the changes and maybe they'll change some things back for the 15's if they get enough complaints.

I woke up early this morning to thunderstorms and was feeling particularly princessy, so I curled up with BF on the couch and we watched Tangled and Princess & the Frog through the monsoon :) it was fun! Thankfully we got our long run in yesterday because its super steamy out now! I'm brainstorming race outfits today...I chose Belle and I have an idea what I'd like for the skirt or tutu to look like, but just need to find someone that could maybe make it for me, since I'm not too crafty that way.

There's an Etsy girl who does beautiful skirts. It's called OnceUponARun. She's on FB too (no spaces) and does a lot of Disney stuff. I haven't bought any but I keep eyeing them because they're really pretty. Wonder if she's here on DIS.

It's hailing here. :( I was planning a long run today and got rained out all weekend. I have an indoor track at the park district that I could drive to and use but I just don't get into indoor running and end up bored and ending early.

You could make one it's pretty easy. On you-tube you can find great videos about how to make a no sew tutu. It's pretty easy and you don't need to be crafty to do it.

I swear the hardest thing for me was cutting the all tulle the right length.
Also, the great thing is if you don't like it you can basically start over from scratch and start again.

I was just on etsy heart-ing a lot of Belle stuff to get ideas from and I'm pretty sure I hearted one from that shop! There's so much cute stuff on etsy...I'll have to start narrowing it down and then find out who will do adult sizes since so much of what I end up liking is meant for kids costumes :)

That's what I've heard...I keep thinking I'm going to try it out once...maybe I'll see if I can whip one up for tinkerbell!

Oh, Hahahaha! Yeah, I could see how that would happen. Maybe I'll buy a little extra and let them keep themselves busy with it :)

I just made a no sew tutu yesterday for my daughter, it was super easy and quick, maybe two hours total including the cutting time. I bought stuff today to make another one for my older daughter.

I just signed up for the Chicago Perfect 10...the 10K not the 10 Mile! (lazy me..)...to get a chip time in case any Chicago folks want to meet up down there.

Or, if you have nothing better to do on a chilly November morning and want to cheer :cheer2:

Ran a half today and PR'd by 10 minutes! :cool1: Official time 2:35:12. I was feeling great today and it was a perfctly beautiful day for a run!

If you end up giving the Pure Cadence a try, I have a pair of bright pink 8.5's with only 30-something miles on them available for a great deal!
:rotfl: And I'm done with my pair of 7's! I could return them still, but I got such a good price on them I might use 'em instead for strength training; they're way too PINK for wearing around town, but they're super comfy. They're just not working for running.

The temperature and humidity will be better in February, right? RIGHT?! :worried: Please say yes. :bitelip:
Hi again! Absolutely, it WILL be cooler and very likely less humid - we really only have much humidity in Feb. if it's actually raining. But even then, it's no comparison to Sept. :thumbsup2

I had my throwaway old navy thermal over my race gear (long compression tights, two tight wicking racerbacks) and I was perfect. The ladies walking to the bus with me were shivering! They were Floridians.
:rotfl2: Yep, that sounds like me! If it's below 60, you'll find me completely covered and barely breaking a sweat. I ran a 4-miler last winter in tights, double shirts, a fleece jacket and a hat and never did warm up... the temp was 50. ;)

Honestly, the heel is the thing I dislike about 90% of shoe brands - any shoe on which the rubber angles out from the upper is immediately off my list. It's why I keep going back to Mizuno; even though their heels are high, they cut straight down, or even round under, the upper, so the're not that lip sticking out, aiming to trip me when I transition form run to walk.

Awesome - congratulations! :cheer2:

I found my Princess outfit! I was totally anti-skirt after my experience at the TOT (it drove me NUTS! Kept twisting around, bunching under my Spibelt, and the sequins brushing against my hands were annoying), but Target had girls' lace and tulle skirts on clearance - a little poof, soft lace and a color to match a shirt I already have! Every once in a while it pays to be short and built like a 10-year-old boy, I guess.

Best part? The skirt was $6 using my Target Visa. So if it annoys me, I'll have NO problem tossing it on the side of the course! :teeth:

Cute outfit :)

Training for this race (alone). Hoping to have a great time and have some people to join me in 2014. ::yes::
Can't wait to see you all there! I AM SO EXCITED!!! :hyper:
