Good idea, thanks! And maybe I'll bring some double-sided body tape too just in case the bottom edge of the bib needs a little extra help staying down.

For all the effort I'm putting into transforming my purple sports bra into an Ariel-esque clamshell top, no way I'm going to cover it with the race bib! :)

You can also hit up a costume shop during Halloween and buy some spirit gum- it's the stuff you use to stick on mustaches and the edges of wigs if you really don't want them to move. It holds stuff really well and is pretty easy to get off afterwards.

We're planning on Victoria & Albert's as our celebratory post-race dinner. You think I can wear my medal there? :lmao:

Wow, so many pages and so many great tips. I just registered for the Princess half this week, it will be me, DBF and a few other girlfriends. Girls Weekend!! This has been a bucket list for us and we can't wait to mark this one off. Please add me to the roster.

I have started following the Galloway training and did 4 miles on Saturday. I know I have a long way to train for 13 miles.

Ran 13.5 miles today. Honestly, the last 2 miles were hard and I just wanted it DONE. I will start tapering since it's only two weeks until I run the DL 1/2 marathon.

I really miss getting a medal after running all that distance. :lmao:

Have a great race and enjoy DL!

ABSOLUTELY!!! :thumbsup2

3 miles today at a 16:12 pace. I'm slowly getting there. I decided to start doing a full 3 miles each day. I'm doing whatever the day's C25K workout is and then doing 1/1 intervals to get me to the 3 miles mark. I messed up me runkeeper settings, so I did it as 2 activities. The C25K part - 15:55 pace. :woohoo:

When you run on the road between Epcot and MK, the characters are in the middle on the grassy median, so they will be there on the way back. I've only done this 2 years now, but both years had Capt. Jack & a pirate ship and a big group of men :rotfl2: - Prince Eric, Flynn Rider, Tarzan (:scratchin), John Smith (Pocahontas), prince from Mulan, Aladdin... Don't remember who else was in the middle. But the lines are shorter on the way back, you have better light and you don't waste time at the beginning. This is only on the road, though - once you get in the MK parking lot, if there is someone you want to see then you need to hit it b/c you leave a different way than how you come in.

I noticed you are in Alabama. If you run outside, I promise you that you will get faster once fall breaks! Heat & humidity make everything about 100 times harder. If you are on a treadmill, I would suggest just challenging yourself - kick up the speed in small notches, a little at a time. Really, you have a long time to get up to speed, so to speak, so I wouldn't really worry about that now. I would get your body used to the miles, and I think you will find that if you consistently stick to a plan, you will see the speed come of it's own. Hang in there!

thanks! that's good to know! it's way too hot/humid in Alabama for me to run outside so I've been on the treadmill most of the summer - plus it's easier to adjust my speed. I'll take your advice & increase it a little each week. Hopefully it'll cool off soon :)

Hi Christina,

I personally stay off property because we are a family of 8 and we love Disney to pieces but we a) do not like sleeping on top of each other and b) can't afford to pay 5,000 to 6,000 for us all to stay on property.

we rent pool homes for the week. WE try to find homes that have disney themes to help us "feel" the atmosphere at Disney. We hang out a down town disney or this year the water parks if it is warm enough.
The park pricing discount is extremely worth it to us. I know our situation is unique but we love Orlando and we get the best of both worlds when we are there.

can't answer no.2

3) I am doing race retreat off property because again my hubby has been to enough races and dragging all the kiddies out to see me cross the finish line is well.... so this year I will do race retreat so that I can keep warmed up and also cool down without feeling like I have to rush back to get to every one and I can enjoy the moment with the girls.

I wore a tutu and a head band that was about creative as I can get. I will do another tutu and head band. 13.1 miles was a bit long with the tu tu scratching me so I am still up in the air about costuming.

Last year about 4 of us got together and did the race. Money is tight for everyone and I very well may have to run alone this year. Last year I ran with a friend for 10 miles and then she ran ahead. I run locally by myself so I do not mind running alone. I will attend more of the meet and greets this year just to see some familiar faces and get to know some people from this board.

Hope this helped some

This helped IMMENSELY!
At this point, it looks like I have a friend doing it with me but whether we keep the same pace- I'm not sure if she'll be running ahead or I will depending on how well each of us train (she's in FL and I'm in NJ). We're staying off property since she has a non-DVC timeshare in Orlando. I'm dressing up- I *think* as Ariel though I know my friend is going as Ariel so I'm not sure if we'll be Team Mermaid or if I'm going to go off on my own ;)

"Look at that fat girl running. Who is she kidding? *giggle, giggle*" That's what I heard this morning when I passed some women walking. Those ladies can suck it. I may be bigger than them, but I got there before them, left after them, and ran while they were walking and gossiping.:cool1:

If they're not lapping you, they can suck it. Even if they are- with attitudes like theirs- the can STILL suck it :D
Keep going! :cheer2:

Now THAT is the ultimate celebration...and some serious motivation! I'm jealous! And you better believe I'd wear my medal there :thumbsup2 I'll go thre one of these days, I just know it.

Of course you can wear it! DH and I are back and forth and V&A or Narcossee's to celebrate. I am terrified I am going to be so tired I am going to fall asleep in my plate which I don't think is good anywhere. :rotfl2:

...?

2. If you're running in a costume that leaves your midriff bare, and you don't want to cover up your sports bra (which is themed to the costume), what are the options for your race number? I thought about pinning it to my tutu, but I'm worried it'll be too poufy and the race number won't be easily visible to the Brightroom photographers. Has anyone taped their race number right to their stomach?

Yeah, I think about weird things when I run...

Erin
It will be February. Even if it's Florida, it will still be cold-ish. Orlando's average February low is 52. The sun won't be out. There have been years when we've gone down into the 20's at night. I don't think you'll want your belly exposed.

:rotfl2: I want to make it over to MK for Wishes and EMH, so I'm planning on a nice long afternoon nap after the half, before heading to V&A and then MK. Which is a nice thing about a girls weekend. No way would DH head to the parks in his suit, but us ladies can easily slip a pair of comfy shoes into our bag and head on over after dinner. :thumbsup2

Do you see where she's from? 52 is swimming weather for us up north. :lmao:

We went in Feb this year and the weather was quite warm. I brought pants for all of us and we had to go out shopping to get shorts. 70s and 80s during the day, and even after the sun went down, it wasn't horribly cold. That being said I know I'm bringing 2 sets of running costumes, one for colder temps and one for if it's slightly warmer. I'd def hoping for slightly warmer.

This is ME! I wear open toed shoes as long as there is no snow on the ground! 52 is pleasant!

I hope I can get a late nap. Somehow DH and I had the awesome idea of moving from BC to BLT for Sunday night since we could get a Theme Park View room so there is a chance I won't have a room between 11 and 4pm. I figure if I get too tired I can find a pool chair and sleep there!

You just never know. This past February was way warmer than usual. The year before was way colder. There have been snow flurries at the marathon in January.

52 is winter! LOL Y'all are crazy. :rotfl2:
