I was so bummed on my walk/run this morning. All week the weather guys said it would be cool (72 degrees) Saturday morning. I walked outside and the air was so thick and still that I could barely breathe! Seriously, who was I kidding...

A cold front...

In Dallas...

In August!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Also, in our neighborhood, we have peacocks that roam around. What happened this morning?

No peacocks...

No pea hens...

No pea chicks...

No feathers to pick up.

:sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

But, am I sad? No sir, I am not. I finally broke into a 16 m/m!!! That is something to cheer about!:cheer2:

PEACOCKS???? That's awesome. My neighbourhood has rabbits (cute), raccoons (scary) and skunks!!! I'm kind of jealous.

I know, a serious cold front. It's currently 69, in August  Depending on the weather, I may try to run outside tomorrow morning. It would be a nice change from the treadmill.

Thanks everyone for the kids words. It really bummed me out at first. It gets really hard for me mentally sometimes. I had a verbally/emotionally abusive parent growing up. Even though my logical brain says that it's nonsense, the decades of "you can't do it, you can't do anything, you're worthless" starts to creep in and try to take over. :worried:

Just remember how strong you are, mentally and physically. Running builds up both. You've done the hard part, making the commitment to run a half marathon! Those other women definitely can suck it till the cows come home!! You are way stronger than them! When the self doubt starts to creep in, just think of running through the castle. It is the most amazing feeling! And crossing the finish line and getting that medal will be the best feeling ever! Stick around here with all us princess and we will kick someone's @$$ for you if we need to! You CAN do this! You are a PRINCESS and cannot be stopped! princess:

It's raining, and I'm about to go running. Cross your fingers that no thunderstorms pop up. It stormed on Friday, and I was mildly injured yesterday. I really want to get a run in today.

I'm laying here contemplating my run for the same reason....t-storms in the area. I'm supposed to do 6 today...so I'll probably either go to the gym for the treadmill or make my 4 miler a 5 tomorrow...close enough! :) good luck!

Good luck! I got caught in a thunderstorm (in the dark, in the woods) earlier this week. Not going to lie- it was really fun! So even if you get rained and stormed on try and enjoy it. :)

Sorry, I'm new here. I think I publicly posted to be added to the roster. If you could add me I would appreciate it! Thanks!

I hit a new long run distance today, 5 miles! Yay! Just over 11 minute miles with a 2/2 interval.

I'm planning to bump the distance up to six miles this month and then use next month to reduce my walk intervals some. There's a 10k the week before Thanksgiving that I want to do to try to get in Corral B or C.

I think my new running gear is helping my mental attitude, I got a SparkleTech skirt that is awesome! Great job on those weekend runs everyone!

Ohhhh... which one? I'm trying to hold out until I lose weight to get my next one, but the new ones are soooo tempting!

That is awesome! Even with no fun animals. :cheer2: My most fun was the bunny family a couple weeks ago!

Did you get it in? I went on a run last week during a light rain and hoped the same thing and it was the best. So peaceful for some reason!

I did. :goodvibes I managed to mostly catch a break in the rain. :thumbsup2 I even broke the 16 min mile mark for the first time. It was only a 15:57 minute mile average, but I'll take it!

Ran 13.5 miles today. Honestly, the last 2 miles were hard and I just wanted it DONE. I will start tapering since it's only two weeks until I run the DL 1/2 marathon.

I really miss getting a medal after running all that distance. :lmao:

Ran my first 10k in *years* this morning. The event was hosted by a local athletics club, and with just 140-some very serious runners participating, my only goal was to not finish last. Really surprised myself with a 1:01 finish time. Not quite a PB, but not too far off, either. And now I get to move the marker on my Princess Half map up past the castle. (Stole someone else's brilliant motivational technique: printed out the course map, posted it on the fridge, and use a sticker to mark the longest run to date as part of training.)

During today's run, two questions popped into mind:

1. Does anyone know if there's a massage tent at the end of the Princess Half other than the one that's part of the Race Retreat?

2. If you're running in a costume that leaves your midriff bare, and you don't want to cover up your sports bra (which is themed to the costume), what are the options for your race number? I thought about pinning it to my tutu, but I'm worried it'll be too poufy and the race number won't be easily visible to the Brightroom photographers. Has anyone taped their race number right to their stomach?

Yeah, I think about weird things when I run...

From what I can remember at the other Disney halfs I've done, there has been a massage tent. I've never taken advantage, but know I've seen it. As for your bib, no idea, sorry! :)

Congrats on the 10k today, that's a great time!

Oh! Maybe just use the top two pin holes on the bib to pin it to the bottom of your sports bra. As long as its not a windy day, your forward motion should keep the bib flat against your stomach so you wouldn't necessarily need to use the bottom two.

Good idea, thanks! And maybe I'll bring some double-sided body tape too just in case the bottom edge of the bib needs a little extra help staying down.

For all the effort I'm putting into transforming my purple sports bra into an Ariel-esque clamshell top, no way I'm going to cover it with the race bib! :)

Yes, you WILL take it! Way to go!

Woo-hoo! I hear ya about the medal - I ran the Castaway Cay 5K on our cruise at the beginning of August and got the little plastic medal. I read elsewhere that the very cruise after ours, they "discontinued" handing out the medal. Um, that's the only reason I got up on my vacation to run that %^&* thing - if I had done it and not gotten a medal, I would have been seriously upset to miss out on extra beach time! :goodvibes

Congrats - great time! There is a massage tent and I do believe it's open to anyone but there is a charge - can't remember. Your outfit sounds great! I've run as Tinkerbell the last 2 years but think that I have settled on "Provincial" Belle for this year. Should be pretty easy, I think!
