Thank you for that link to the youtube demonstration of the sewing. That will be a huge help!

My question of the day for any West Coast Princesses--

My friend will be coming from California and is concerned about getting acclimated in time to get a decent night's sleep before the race. Do any of you have tips on how to do this? She'll be coming in at least by Thursday.

We thought about staying up all night either Thursday or Friday, and hopefully being so tired that we could go to sleep super early Saturday night. Would that work?

I'm a West Coast Princess and we will fly in Thurs. afternoon. I am SO worried about the time change too !!!! I've talked to a few people who fly in to WDW to race and everyone seems to have a different idea how to acclimate. My plan for myself and family is... a week before we leave we're going to "pretend" we are on East Coast time. Sort of change one hour at a time, so in 3 day we will be living on East Coast Time. By waking up early and get to bed early in theory we should be well adjusted by the time we land in Orlando. Doing that will also help getting up for our early flight. Again theory doesn't always work in the real world. But that's what we are going to try and do.

My main concern is for me to be rested and feeling ok for the race. I hate flying and the stress associated with it so I need to be rested to deal with the stress better. I would hate to be feeling run down and tired before the big day.

I would also love to hear any other ideas.

I also read that the course is different and it cannot hold as many runners (not sure if that is true)

Congrats!!

And I was able to book our stay today. I am so excited. Anyone else staying at BC/YC/BCV or even BW/Swan/Dolphin?

I am staying at Boardwalk with a bunch of fellow running gals!

OK I had huge plans for Princess 2013 to be my first half and it looks like it will have to wait til 2014. I am happy to say I am 8 weeks pregnant!!
Good luck to the rest of you!

Congratulations!!!

This was me in 2011. Congratulations! I still followed the thread and I felt like I learned so much and when I had my last DD, it felt good to have a goal in place to work toward. Again, congrats and still stick around!!!

Yay!! My sister and I registered last night! this is the first race of any kind for both of us!!

One question - I didn't buy the pin or necklace because I didn't see a picture & the description wasn't much..........has anyone bought these before & remember what they look like...or have a pic to post?

Actually I have a million other questions but will spread them out later :goodvibes

TIA :)

The pin from last year was really neat (someone posted a pic on FB) so I ordered that. It seems everyone felt the necklace was cheap and it was available at the expo so I did not order that one.

I had to bike instead of run/walk today. :(

Back in Jan I got plantar fasciitis in my left foot from being overweight, carrying my baby on my left hip too much and doing all the jumping in Zumba. I quit Zumba, lost 22 lbs, and wore shoes or fancy flip flops with arch support all the time and that cleared it up. My run/walk seemed to be not upsetting it, but all of the sudden it's back. I did spend 45 min barefoot running around a gym with my toddler for his gymnastics class which I think is what triggered it.

So, for now I'm icing it, stretching my feet and biking instead of running.

Any other advice? Should I be able to run again soon? ???

Hi there. Long time stalker first time poster here. I recently started having problems with plantar fascitis when I started to run. I went to my local running store and he had me try an arch support because I have high arches. It's a Pro-tech arch support. All I do is wrap it around my arch over my sock. It has a little bump in it that fills in my arch a bit. It helped so much. I no longer have any pain when I run. Any pain I do have in the morning goes away with some stretches and wearing good shoes. I wear a lot of flip flops since I live in Florida and I usually pay for it the next day.

I hope that helps

I'm registering for the first time! I lost 90 pounds on Weight Watchers, and have been running for about a year, but I'm finally ready to compete in my first half marathon. It was something I never thought possible for myself, but the thought of running through Disney World is the best motivation to get serious about training!

The longest race I've run so far was a 4-miler, so I definitely have my work cut out for me...but I could not be more excited! :goodvibes

Happy training, everyone!

Hi Jen

I too lost about the same after having my oldest son and twin boys back to back.. I feel so good and have been so active that I thought what better way to run a marathon then in Disney. It's an awesome challenge for me.. And I have no doubt I'll see all you ladies at the finish.. I also registered, but on the 10th..

Good luck

Had my best run yet today. 12:30/mi on a 4 mile run with no walking, even though I really wanted to. :) That time is a minute and five seconds faster than the last time I ran that trail. Hard to believe that when I first started running in February I was struggling to complete 3 miles in under an hour.

Thanks, that helps a lot!! I'll look for that arch support. I'm a FL girl too so I live in flip flops. My Dr recommended Rainbows brand but I ended up getting a similar, also ridiculously expensive brand (I don't remember the name but it's the official brand of the Hawaiian lifeguards). The insoles mold to your feet so they provide arch support. They seem to help ward off the plantar fasciitis if I wear them when I'd normally be barefoot.

Question - I'll have my car with me. Is easier to take a bus or to drive to the corrals?

I'll have a car, too. My friend and I are wanting to stay at OKW, which isn't [as yet] listed as a host resort. I called DVC yesterday and the CM tried to find out if it was but never saw it on a list. Someone up thread had said that she had heard there would be busses coming from SSR and OKW? Has anyone else heard about this?

Anyway, has anyone tried to drive to a host resort then get picked up by one of their busses?
