haha I just saw your response over there!! Thanks for all your help. Where in NH are you located? We're in the Burlington, VT area nice to see someone near me!:)

Rochester. I was actually thinking of doing the Burlington downtown 10K in Sept. It's the weekend before my 1st half though. Haven't decided what to do. Really wanted to do that race to have a 10k time to submit (since I'm not confident that I'll fully be ready for the hm in Sept.) :confused3

Hey ladies! I feel like I've been so off track this past week with my eating but I've stuck to my running so I'm very proud of myself for that! But I have a question! My husbands in the military so we have to go out of town sometimes so it really effects my eating habits! Does anyone have any advice for eating healthy while not at home? Like on vacation or anything like that? Thank you! And also if anyone has a blog can you let me know so I can follow you? It helps me seeing encouraging words from others! Mine is

Welcome fabulousmommy from one military wife to another! If the town you are visiting has a ready made deli, we find a good salad with lots of veggies and a little meat. If there is no deli available or premade salads, grab a bag of premade salad baby greens (or whatever you like!) and add some canned tuna in water, chicken and some veggies. We find most hotels have small refrigerators that you can store cold stuff. For breakfast, grab some oatmeal packets or ready made bowls and use the coffee pot in the room to add the hot water to it. If there is a microwave available, you can microwave eggs (with a little milk and cheese. It isn't bad really!) Most restaurants also offer a menu with "light options". Don't despair....I have me "chex mix muddy buddy days" and then get back on the treadmill.

Is hubby running/walking with you? Tell him other military hubbies will be there so he will not be alone! :cool1:

After starting my training for my FIRST EVER running event (a.k.a. the PHM) I started getting twinges in my knees so I made an appointment with the Sports Medicine Doctor. This guy was GREAT...very thorough with xrays and moving the legs and the good news is...no knee issues show up ! Can't use all the big words he used but...it came down to better hamstring stretches and....taking it SLOWLY ! (and a few ibuprofen thrown in as necessary) I did 2.5 miles before seeing him and am proud my time is down from 14:17 to 13:45 per mile. Slow progress but I am proud...if you have read my previous post you know my first goal is to complete the race in under 3:30....strive to get a better time...and stop for character pictures with time improvement. I probably won't see a 10K in an hour (more power to the princesses that can!) I am going to do this PHM so just be at the finish line to cheer me on!

This past Saturday we start the 6 mile to 8 mile run also this past sunday i did my second 5k with timing of 32 mins.

the only down to part to all this is that these past few weeks i have been having terrible pain in my knees. went to doctor to find out that i have BAKER CYST:sad1:.. so now i have to slow it down and i really dont want to because i will lose my timing.

Here's a question for all the veteran Disney runners...

I am looking to get the ChEAR package for my boys (ages 5 and 10) and DH. They won't be coming to the starting line with me, but should get to MK in time -- then head to the finish line.

Which level of ChEAR do you recommend? Thanks princesses! princess:

I am interested in this too though I think I want to do the Race Retreat and for DH to join me there after he has to have the Platinum level I think. It kind of seems like a waste since he already told me he will not be at MK or along the route but I do want him close at the finish!

I'm also thinking about the race retreat for myself and the Platinum for DH and son. I really just want to make it easy for them to see me run and also have a enjoyable time at the finish.

That's what we were planning to do as well for DH and the girls. Now that DH is going to run with me, we will be both doing the race retreat and will have the girls stay with a babysitter at the resort.

How quickly do the race retreats and ChEAR packages sell out? I'm looking to spread out my payments, if possible, but don't want to miss out on the opportunity.

Thanks princesses!:tink:

My family (that would be my mom and my aunt) really really wanted the Platinum Chear package, so that's really the reason I went ahead and did the race retreat :rotfl: But anyhow, its really nice for the spectators! They have a reserved section at the finish line with private port-a-pots there too! In the grandstands there are 3 sections, and the Chear people get the middle section. My mom was a little peeved at the big ferns right at the finish line that partially obstructed her view, but she did manage to snap a pic of my hand as I crossed the finish :lmao:

My family did not travel to the MK, they were too worried about missing my big finish! However, they were able to get into the race retreat while I was still running, and they LOVED it! My aunt said they had the best tasting hot choc she has ever tasted LOL!!

Plus, after I finished, and we all met back up, they have a nice breakfast which was really yummy, I wished I could have eaten more LOL but my tummy was flipping a little at that point! They still had the fairies out for M&G's, and there is a little play area for the kiddies.

So, for our crew it was well worth it and if I ever run the Princess again, we will race retreat again :cloud9:

I know I posted this earlier (somewhere) in this thread, but don't worry, the race retreat should not sell out too quickly. Last year I did not even register for the Princess til August, and then in September we decided to race retreat, so you do have time to make up your mind :thumbsup2

I'm in the Burlington,VT area as well, and I'm also looking at running in the Downtown 10K, for the same reason! My husband is thinking about running the Princess Half with me, and I thought I would get a placement a bit closer to his if I send in a qualifying time...

Which half are you looking to do in September?

Thanks for the info. I really want DH and son to have fun and be comfortable while I'm out running so that is a big reason we NEED to all do the race retreat. Play area for kids, port-a-potties, and hot chocolate--- I'm sold.

Can't wait to register next month.

How far in advance can we make dining reservation/priority seating at WDW?

I'm doing the Hampton Rockfest Half. I'm a little nervous about it, since my longest run (training or race) has been a 5K. But, I figure the last 4-5 miles are right along the beach, so at least I'll have a nice view as I crawl to the finish line. :rotfl: (Oh, and there's a full marathon as well, so I'm pretty much assured I won't be the last person on the course!)

I wish I could do the Burlington 10K as it's right next to where I work. I just don't know that I will be ready in time.

And don't forget - as a runner, you get flip-flops and a signature drink afterwards ;) Plus private bag check which is awesome too!!
