nicole---i've been thinking the same thing...kind of want to see how many posts it can get it...i'm interested to see if it stops at 250 or if it can go on....

Christina, OMG how scary!!! I am sorry your are fighting with your DH, bu hopefully after he move he stress will go away.

We have a pug and a 75lb boxer. We weren't planning on stopping, but my inlaws (who were helping us move) wanted to rest. Since we didn't plan ahead, we didn't have much choice. I was paranoid about it (since Cyprus is pretty noticeable) but it worked out.

Michelle, sorry your job isn't going well. It's sad, but I know jut how you feel about getting laid off. A few years ago, I HATED my job and was thrilled the day I was laid off. I was able to find work in about a month and it was so much better (my commute went from over an hour to five minutes). I hope i all works out for you! :wizard: :grouphug:

Bethany, glad your trip went well! I am super impressed with Owen's vocabulary! Spencer still only says a few words, but I'm not worried yet.

I like the "Moms to Toddlers (f/k/a the new "New Moms")" thread. I have another group I post on and they shut us down right at 250 pages. I was able to get them to add a link to the closed thread though.

I hope everyone has a great day! We are suppose to go to Toys R Us later.

Amber - We have never planned ahead on our other big moves but had the AAA triptix with the books. We just looked ahead in the books and found hotels. It was never an issue. This is the bigger of the moves so I want to plan ahead more. Looks like we are going to be driving 7-8 hours on Friday, 10-11 hours on Saturday and 7 hours on Sunday. Ick ... Some of the hotels in S. Jersey and around Newark, DE have $100 pet fees!!!

Here's Sammie! How old do you think he is? Everyone says he looks old.

I like the idea of toddler moms fka "new moms thread too!!! Whenever we need to start it, lets get a link in this one for sure!

Christina- OMG- i am so sorry for the scare. I know i would have freaked too. But don't beat yourself up, we all make mistakes especially in our hectic and stressed out lives. I am so glad he is okay.

Nicole- August will be here before you know it! I am so excited and hopeful for you!!! :thumbsup2

Bethany- welcome home- glad the return trip was easier and lol at the lady 'letting him' kick her seat, too funny. we joke that my mom or cousin ALWAYs end up sitting in front of seat kickers. :rotfl:

Amber- i love pugs!! we have 2 boston terriers and thought about getting a pug at some point.

Thanks for the hugs on the job thing. i am here working away, but just not ALL here, ya know.

so i've been really torn- my BFF is turning 30 (she's a lot younger, but mentally and socially much older! lol)- she is going to vegas in early july and wants us to go, but I just can't afford it right now- I just did a cruise, i have 10 days in WDW in Dec and i might lose my job plus i can't find a sitter for Will. Mom can't watch him alone for 2-3 days due to her health issues and she can't drive, dad is on call, so he might not be there the whole time. so i just don't want to go. Plus i don't have enough extra cash to really enjoy it (i like to play a LOT of craps!). I hate telling her we can't go, but it is for the best. She understands, but i still feel terrible. I think i might get her a spa treatment at Caesar's or something (i've done the spa there- great!). and now- DH just heard his boss is taking them to Vegas 6/24-6/26 as a celebration for a big deal they just closed. they did this 2 years ago and spouses were not invited. so at least he can still go for free, so it really doesn't make sense for us to go with her if DH is already going.

Christiana, I'm so sorry for the scare! I'm glad Alex is safe.

Michelle, I like your idea of giving your BFF a spa treatment since you can't go to vegas with her (and I agree, it sounds like you really can't go just now). I'm sure she'd love the spa gift!

I wish we could have a dog - I love hearing about all of yours! DH doesn't like dogs, though. He's a total cat person, and says that before we got married his goal was to be the crazy cat guy in the neighborhood. :lmao:

Childproofing/safety question for you all: Does your oven get hot on the outside when you use it? As in, too hot to touch or be safe for a kiddo to be around it?

We have an ancient free-standing range that we need to replace because it gets very hot on the outside when we use the oven. I believe it is now called "vintage" and may even qualify as an antique - it looks like it's at least from the 50's if not older, and has a narrow oven and 3 other funny drawers that used to be things like a broiler and a warming drawer and we're not sure what the 4th one did. It's great if you want that vintage kitchen look, and works pretty well all things considered, but it's way too hot to be safe with a toddler around.

Anyway, we can't find any information online about the safety features on freestanding ranges, and we really want to know how hot do modern ovens get on the outside when you use them.

Hi all...

Michelle -- please don't take this as rubbing it in because I totally understand all the reasons you can't go to Vegas right now and you are probably making a smart choice for yourself financially.....BUT -- as you may know -- I am going to Vegas in July (48 days from now to be exact!)
and I am planning to go to the QUA spa at Ceasers.

I have never been and I am SOOOO excited to go. I am definately going to buy the day pass ($45 and I have a coupon good for $20 discount) -- but I am on the fence as to whether to add a spa treatment.

I have heard you can easily spend 3+ hours at the spa WITHOUT a treatment (mineral baths, artic room, saunas, jacuzzi, heated lounge chairs, tea room...)

But the question is - do I add a spa treatment as well? I'm not much for massages because I get a little creeped out with people touching me -- but I was considering the Vichy showers (Dancing waters) which is kind of a water massage (you lie on a table with strategic overhead showers placed on you) -- and/or considering getting a spray on tan because I NEVER go out tanning due to the melanoma risk in my family (my dad has melanoma which makes me 12 times higher risk to get it) so I don't go out in the sun w/o sunblock ever and therefore I am always a nice pasty shall of pale and I thought a spray on tan might be interesting...

anyway -- I woudl LOVE to hear your expereinces, thoughts etc about the SPA.

I am really excited about going there.

Thanks
Nicole

ps: and you are right - August is not too far away at all -- hard to beleive that 3 months for now I could be pregnant. Which is another reason for my Vegas trip ... kind of a last hurrah before preggo and baby #2 (god willing)!!

OMG Christina how scary!! That is my worst nightmare! I am so glad he is safe though.

Michelle I am so sorry you can't go on that trip. sounds like it would be fun. I do agree that a spa gift would be awesome! I love them myself, so I'd be all over that. I'm doing a small spa gift for a friend of mine just finishing up business school and her sister agrees that it is a perfect gift.

Bethany we have an electric free standing range and while part of the oven does get warm, it never gets dangerously hot. I just baked at 350 for about an hour and it was fine. Only when it gets up to 450 does it feel "warm" (not hot). I'd probably replace yours if I were you. Then again I am always looking for excuses to find new appliances :rotfl:

That's what I thought would be true, so that's a good confirmation, thanks!

DH loves loves loves cooking - it's his favorite way to relax or say "I love you" or "thanks" or anything like that. I tease him and tell him he flirts with food! So I think we should really invest good money in a new range - something that he'll love using for years. I might be able to persuade DH about this if I pitch it as a safety thing to keep Owen from getting burned!

Shootingstarmom - I felt like that about Alex's first haircut, he seemed so grown up. Now I have to fight off DH with the clippers cuz I'm still not quite ready for the buzz cut. That little guy should be here any day now, you must be so ready! :goodvibes

DMickey - that's so scary, I was holding my breath while I read it! But I'm glad Alexander is ok and he didn't get too far - how brave of him to just take off down the street pulling his wagon! Don't beat yourself up about it, you are under tons of stress right now and these things happen. The important thing is that everyone is ok. And hopefully your DH learned to double check the lock. ;)

Michelle - that stinks that your job is not going well. We've been hearing rumors of another round of layoffs in our dept by the end of the year, and I'm kind of worried. We don't have anything in savings, and I make a lot more than DH, so we would be in some trouble without my income. I think your idea to give your friend a spa package is really nice - I know I would enjoy it. :goodvibes

Bethany - It sounds like you all had a great trip! The zoo sounds especially fun. Since your DH likes cooking so much, just take him to an appliance store to "browse." You'll have him convinced to buy a new range in no time. My DH is a cook and he could spend all day in one of those stores! :rotfl: OH, and so cute on the blue's clues chair. Alex has an elmo chair that he calls his "thinking chair" and a Cars notebook that holds while the show is on. :thumbsup2

Nicole - have fun on your vegas trip!

Hi to everyone else!

*****************

I know some of you were talking about your kids starting to jump. That's all Alex wants to do now. He will climb onto and jump off of anything and everything. We were walking down the stairs this morning at home, and he was holding my hand. We were at the 3rd step from the bottom, and all the sudden he let go of my hand and leaped to the bottom! From the 3rd step! The boy is nuts!

On a positive note - less than 3 days until we leave for Disneyland! And for anyone who knows what Portillo's is, we also plan on eating there Thursday night! I can't wait!

Hello ladies!

I'm sorry I haven't been around in awhile. It has been a VERY ROUGH last few weeks and I didn't want to come here with nothing but my problems.

In short, things are looking up. New car after old was totaled in the accident, I FINALLY got a better job. 5 minutes from home at a restaurant called Ryan's. I filled out paperwork yesterday (monday) and I officially start with them next Wed after my 2 weeks is up at Sears. I HATED that job. I'll be able to get insurance again and I'm thrilled about that. Looking forward to waiting tables again, I've missed it these last few months. I have to go to court again tomorrow.(WED) It's for my sentence for my ticket on failure to yield. Judge wanted to talk to my passenger so we had to postpone a couple of weeks from my last date. The good thing is, I haven't had to pay for the ticket or whatever else the judge may declare. Hopefully talking to my passenger, will help reduce the amount he determines. Money it tight, but we're making it. Mo is VERY well. 25 pounds and 31 inches tall. YIKES! :scared1: My baby is 5 inches away from being 3 feet! :goodvibes Also, Mo is finally in daycare. The way we came about it wasn't a good one, but in the end it's been wonderful. And guess what, the provider is my neighbor who is a licensed provider RIGHT across the street from us....AND she ONLY charges us $10 a day. Mo's only there a few hours at a time and since we've known each other nearly 4 years, that's her reason for the WONDERFUL rate. :cool1:
He's getting interaction with other children and I'm glad. There's two little girls there that really like him and I think it's fabulous! :cloud9: I've lost some weight I've been told. Haven't been eating well over the last month with everything going on, but I'm getting it back together. Hubby has some medical stuff going on, we've got a trip to the VA in Biloxi next Tuesday, but he's coming along too.

SO....how are all of you and your angels? :goodvibes I've missed you girls. Hope you all are well and I'll be around here and there. Take care. :flower3:

Bethany- LOL at DH wanting to be the crazy cat guy- that's too funny. :rotfl: as for the oven- ours is low and it doesn't get too hot. it is a little warm, but not where it would hurt him. I try and keep him out of the kitchen when I am cooking if at all possible, but it is hard, since our kitchen is very open.

Nicole- you will have a BLAST in vegas. I LOVE Caesar's, it is one of my favorite hotels and has a great location. The spa was fabulous. I went with a friend of mine on my last trip- i was there for work and was 8 weeks preggo. She was on clomid trying to get preggo with #2 at the time (ended up doing IVF and has twin 1yo girls now!). So I couldn't enjoy all the hot tubs and sauna stuff, but I did lay on the loungers in that area while my friend enjoyed it. It was funny- you never know at a spa what you will see- the common areas like that might be female or male only, but I believe this one was a joint area, so no naked women. The one at the Mandalay Bay was separate, women only- so there were lots of naked women sitting around. :rotfl:It takes getting used to. lol---anyhow, I believe Caesear's was coed, so you had to wear a bathing suit, which I do anyhow as personal choice. But apparently two ladies forgot theirs, or didn't realize it was coed, so Caesar's provided them with 'temporary' throw away suits- they were like one size fits all little bikini things and it was cut so high and almost like a thong in the back- it was so funny. I did have a prenatal massage and it was fabulous. I love massages though. the other treatment you mentioned sounds great too. There is also a welcome area you sit in while waiting for your treatment or just to relax- it is so nice- there is hot tea, drinks, fruit and stuff and you just help yourself. I highly recommend it. I've done the spa at Mandalay Bay as well (for my wedding there) and I would say Caesar's is right up there with it, and of course far better than any spa I have done at home. The spa on the Disney Wonder was nice too! I am sure you will have a great time- i am jealous and want to see pics! :wizard:

Pollito - look at your little daredevil jumping from the 3rd step! lol- that's a boy for ya! and only 3 days away-----i am so envious! I hope you have a fabulous time and you better report back with lots of pics and details!!!

Denise- welcome back and HUGS to you! yeah for the new job- sounds like you are happier waiting tables anyhow. HOpefully the court thing goes well for you too. and yeah for the cheap and reliable day care- that is awesome!! and losing weight- well yeah, sometimes it happens when you are so stressed out and you just don't 'feel' like eating. I know almost 10 years ago, DH and I almost split/divorced right after we got married (Long long story, obviously we worked it out- now together 16 years). anyhow- i got super depressed- i had been laid off too and we were separated. i didn't eat and lost a ton of weight- not the healthy way. and I LOVE eating- it was so strange to not want to eat. so take care of yourself and eat!!!! I order you! ;):) big hugs to you and I am glad things are turning around, but sorry you had a rough time there. Come vent anytime- that is what we are here for!!!!! ups AND downs.

Bethany if I had money to spend I would be getting myself a duel fuel range. I love cooking with gas burners, but hate gas ovens. So I kind of understand about the love of cooking. I do it every day and just love it. Good thing too because my husband sucks at cooking :rotfl:

I think I would about die if DS tried to jump from the 3rd stair. I laughed when he tried to jump off the swing, but that one is super low to the ground. I've fallen down stairs too many times so I think that is why it would scare me to death.

Denise glad to hear that things are looking up. I wish I had that kind of a rate to pay for daycare. i'd definitely do it just for me if I could.

We had DS's 18 month check up today. The nurse did a lousy job of measuring (brand new nurse and didn't hold firm as he wiggled) but he's about 33 so about 75% for height and just a smidge over 50% for weight (26.5 pounds). Per the doctor he is built like a tank but doing well. It's weird to think about how we won't go back until he's 2 years old. Though we will go earlier for a flu shot too.

Anyone else behind on the HIB vaccine? Just curious if the shortage was a real national thing or if it is slightly regional.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick note that I had the baby today! He was born at 135pm and is 7lbs 15oz. He's just precious. I can't believe it's over and he's sleeping right next to me. My water broke last night on its own at midnight so after laboring all morning and lunchtime he decided it was a good time to join our family. :lovestruc

On top of the great news, Bry was with my sister having dinner at my dad's house. Bry ran straight into the entertainment center and had a huge goose egg on his head. My sister said he didn't cry a lot but she was so worried she called DH. They ended up taking him downstairs to the ER to be checked out. So while I spent some cuddle time with Cam, Bry and Daddy spent some time doing tests to make sure he was ok. I swear it would only happen to us. They gave him some Tylenol and released him. I miss him so much, I hate not being there for his day. I hope he isn't angry with me.:sad1: I'll post a picture after I get home.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :cool1::cheer2:

SSM, CONGRATS!!!! I can't wait to see pictures! I hope Bry is feeling better.

Denise, good to have you back. I'm sorry that you have been having a rough time (I know ALL about that), but hopefully your new job will be much better for you.

Pollito, jumping from the 3rd step  If we had steps, I am sure Spencer would be doing the same. The child is fearless.

clgwli, glad your son is doing well.

SSM---Congrats! Glad Cam had a safe arrival and is healtly. Can;t wait to see pics.

Well I am officially in TROUBLE!! I got caleb up this AM and he was sitting up in his crib...just in the last couple of days he has really mastered it and now he is working on the crawling! :scared1:

So my question...is one I know we have to move the mattress down...but do you think its still ok to keep on the bumper pad for now?? He;s not standing up yet but if he is sitting up he might grab the top of the mattress (but that might be too hard when DH lowers it???)...what did you guys do??

wow congratulations- what great news! Welcome Cameron!!!! :wizard: Glad Bry is okay, when it rains, it pours, huh?

go get some rest and enjoy your new family!! we can't wait to see pics. How was the delivery- pretty good/easy?

SSM2, congratulations on the little one! I can't wait to see pics of Cameron! So sorry about Bry though. The good thing about little kids is that they forget everything quickly like that. I am sure he'll be fine even though you weren't able to be with him.

K_reile I'd take the bumper down. Our DS started moving at 5 months and our doc suggested we take it down at his 6 month check up. Considering we only put him in his big crib at 4 months we felt like it was a waste to have in the first place. Definitely wouldn't put much effort in them if we ever had another kid that's for sure ;) So I would definitely take yours down at this point. They can help them climb and get hurt from what I understand.
