It's very quiet around here...I know we are right at the 250 pages mark..did we already move? :confused3or is it just quiet?

Hi Meredith.

I don't think we moved and I don't think the 250 rule is in effect...I guess people are just not Dissing much the last few days...of course - I noticed there is now a "Newer Moms" thread -- which means we are now the "Old Moms" ---- kinda funny!!!

Have a great weekend.

-Nicole

I'm still here. :thumbsup2 It has been quiet. I've been having 2x weekly doctors appointments and will be induced a week from today if he doesn't come on his own. Bry got a haircut today and at first I totally hated it. I cried in the car! She cut it super short with very little bangs but I really like it now. I think he will be cooler with less hair. DH wanted to buzz it all off. I'm not going that far yet! I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Oh, no, I feel so old! :scared1:

I jumped on the newer moms thread (but staying on here, too)...I was just on the moms to be w/all of them and noticed it.

Of course....2+ years ago we were all on the moms to be together. :thumbsup2

This is so sad. I don't want to lose this thread. I have been busy packing and cleaning! We are moving a week from yesterday. I am so excited but just want to get through it too. It will be a nice break away from DS even though I will be driving 10+ hour days. Isn't that sad?

What's new with everyone? Alexander is starting to talk a lot more. He isn't really adding a ton of new words but he is starting to put more words together. He used to only say "Mama Car" and "Dada Car" as his two word phrase but now he is putting all the words he knows together. He says new words but not more than a few a week. He waits until he KNOWS the words and KNOWS that people will understand it before he talks. He is answering yes and no questions correctly which is super cute. I am not too worried about his speech. I don't think he is necessarily behind just more working on it at his own pace. I noticed a few weeks ago that he was jumping, lifting both feet off the ground and landing on them properly. That was pretty cool.

we won't lose this thread..we can all just move to a new one! Is the 250 pages rule still in effect? Guess we could be the "old New Moms thread" or the Toddler moms, formerly new moms thread..

You're moving back to MA, right???

You're moving back to MA, right???

Yup!! Can't wait. We are going to be on the Cape for a few months and then hopefully buy a house in Southern New Hampshire this Fall. I am not sure how long we will stay on the Cape. I am hoping that the Tax Credit gets extended so we don't feel rushed to buy before December 1.

well...we could be neighbors if you buy in southern NH! depending on what part of NH, that is. I'm about 15 miles west of nashua. mason NH, Brookline NH, Hollis NH are all right by me.

The 250 page rule is still in effect, so we will have to start a new thread.

DMickey, good luck with the move. We did a big move just over a year ago and are seriously thinking of doing it again. I saw you were looking for pet friendly hotels, but we just snuck our dogs in. :rolleyes1

Congrats on Alexander's new words and jumping!

ShootingStar, good luck! I am very excited for you!

Hello to everyone else!

Spencer is really into playing with his trucks now. He even makes "truck sounds". He also LOVES "talking" on the phone. He will carry his phone (or anyone else's if they leave it around) and talk. If he hears ringing, he will put his hand to his head and say hello.

Hi everyone!

DMickey - I wouldn't think Alexander is behind with talking either. Christopher is starting to put 2 words together, and is definitely picking up more words. He had his 6 month EI meeting, and they said he's moved drom "delayed" to the the low end of normal. Good enough for me! And isn't it funny to watch them jump? The first few times, they look so suprised that their feet can do that :lmao:

Amber - too cute with Spencer and the phone. Christopher had a play one for a long time, and now prefers the real thing. The only person he'll talk to on the phone is my dad, though. Everyone else he'll listen, but won't talk. My dad, on the other hand, he talks up a storm. He'll bring me the phone, and tell me "Buppa?" until I call him.

So, are we offically going to be the Toddler Mom's thread? Post here if we move - I tend to get lost during these things ;)

Sorry I haven't been around. It's been so lovely outside we've not been in as much anymore.

And we're hanging with some friends more before the madness of their new baby comes.

I love watching DS try to jump. He's not all that great (only 18 months old) but a few times he has stuck the jump. It's a riot.

I thank you all for talking about the putting words together. There are times when I think my DS is behind. His god sister though has the vocabulary of literally like a 3 year old and she's a few months older than him. I keep telling myself that DS is ahead with his motor skills, so of course he will be on the lower end of average for words. I don't know why it bothers me so much to have him not saying a whole lot (he has about 10-15 words he uses dailiy, but more he won't say often) and he loves to fixate on one word (like now bus) and then I hear others talk and he's just so behind them. I think I need to hang around with more little boys ;)

does this make page 250 then? i like the 'toddler moms- old new moms thread' title idea! too funny that we are now 'old new moms'. how ironic. it has been a long time though- a lot of us were on the preggo or even ttc threads together! my how time flies. you ladies have been great, so yes, we need to keep our thread going! :)

SARAH- on the birth announcements, i did mine through shutterfly. they weren't the cheapest, but not super pricey either. I store all my photos with them, so it was easy to do. Wal-Mart, Wal-green's and others have great selections too and are fairly inexpensive if you are doing a run of the mill photo type one.

Amber- LOL at Spencer being OCD- glad i am not the only one!
Kara- yeah on the monitor- that's a relief knowing you don't have to buy another one!

DMickey- that is so fun that Alexander is speaking more and more. I can't wait for Will to start- he does a few- like 'move dog', but not a lot. the jumping is impressive too! :) ;)

Nicole- i am sure you are so swamped between the house, work and family! talk about multi tasking! :rotfl:;) How is Izzy doing and how is the TTC going- weren't you doing the transfer soon?

hi to all the other ladies- Pollito, Stacy, Denise etc. and hopefully Bethany and Kelly are safely returning from great vacations and did Becky's start already?

Well things have been busy here too-----getting pretty fed up at work---i just don't enjoy it anymore and they are doing pretty poorly right now. I get collection calls everyday from my marketing vendors that we owe tons of money too. It's pretty embarrassing and really I can't do much other than pass on the invoices yet again for payment. My boss told me that him and his two brothers (CEO, President and COO) all took paycuts. they laid off my marketing coordinator last wednesday too. But I saw that coming, as she was the one a few folks didn't like for some reason and had all the drama about. But i am just mentally not there anymore. It's almost sad, but I kinda want to get laid off.....:confused3 so i can spend a little time at home with Will in the summer and really find something else I like again. I definitely won't do the small family business thing again. back to corporate world for me. We have savings (thanks to DH being a total tightwad!!) so we would be just fine for a while, plus i could get unemployment for at least a year, since I've been paying into it for almost 15 years now. I am just kind of ready for something to happen at work one way or the other- i've applied for one other job already, i just don't know what will happen. we will see.

Oh and Will had his 18mo appt- he is 34.75 inches tall, which is 95th percentile! where did this tall child come from- my husband is about 5'9 as am I- so DH is short for a guy. so strange. Will has really long legs too (like me i guess). He is 29.2 lbs which is 85th percentile and his head size is still off the charts. they drew blood and he is somewhat anemic. no shots this time.

Hi everyone!!!

I like the toddler moms/old new moms idea, too...so do we start a new thread and stick a link in this one to find it?

For birth announcements we had a few printed up with our first Kiddie Kandids photos and sent those to relatives and friends farther away, but most of what we did was via email or phone.

Owen is finally getting more secure in his walking and related movements, but nowhere near jumping yet. On the other hand, he's been adding words and getting clearer on his pronunciation. He's up to about 50 words he uses daily and another 50 or so he says when prompted. Oh, and now he's adding more signs, too, but he says the word at the same time or before he does the sign, almost like the sign is the afterthought in case I didn't understand what he was saying. So his development is flipped from what is normal for boys, I guess, but since both DH and I were verbal kids and neither of us was/is athletic, it's not too surprising.

The rest of our trip was uneventful, and thanks to the seat belt extender and the tip on flipping over the seat belt, the car seat came out with no problems after our flight home. I still have some bad bruises on my arms from wrestling with that beast for the first flight, though!

We took Owen to the Calgary zoo on Friday, and it was so fun to watch his face when he saw all the animals "in person" for the first time! :goodvibes The look of wonder and amazement when he saw the giraffes walking past him was just priceless, and he laughed and stared at the gorillas for ages. Since most of the trip was more about bringing Owen along on our adventures, it was nice to do something just focused on him for a day. Plus he'd never been to a zoo before, and I was guessing he'd enjoy it. It was an hour+ drive, so DH and FIL were a little skeptical about it, but once we got there and they saw how much Owen liked it, they agreed that it was a good idea.

Owen charmed all kinds of people at the airport, and even made friends with the woman who sat in front of him on the airplane, even though he was kicking her seat for the entire flight. I tried to keep him from kicking, but the seat back was at exactly the perfect distance for him to push on with his feet, and he really loved doing it. :headache: There were plenty of empty seats, though, so I did suggest that they (or even we) could move, but the woman in front of us wouldn't hear of it and said Owen was just being a toddler and it was perfectly fine for him to kick her seat for nearly 3 hours. I thanked her for understanding, and I'm glad she was so gracious! She kept playing games with Owen, too, which helped keep him occupied.

And the crowning glory to our trip - we found a chair for Owen that looks almost exactly like the thinking chair on Blue's Clues! One of FIL's neighbors was having a garage sale Sat. AM and she had this chair for sale, and ended up giving it to Owen. It's a kid's chair with wooden legs and frame with upholstery and everything over it like an adult chair, and it's the same shape and design as the thinking chair, but the only difference is it's blue with red instead of red with black. FIL is driving back down to CA next month, and he's going to bring it down then. Owen loves it already - he was climbing in and out of it saying "clue! clue! notebook! think!" Now to figure out how to make space for it in the living room....

Stacy - We are looking in that area and also in Goffstown and areas up there.

Amber - My dog is 70lbs of BIG and we have two cats. I think we used to sneak our small dog in but I seem to have more of a conscience with things like that lately. I used to not care!!!

Jen - I get lost too! Too Cute on Christopher talking on the phone. Alexander will listen and he will repeat some things if you ask him too but he doesn't talk!

clgwli - I wouldn't worry about the speech. My DS is very similar. He said a few words for MONTHS and then just around turning two he started with a few more but still only said those two words together for ever. Last night he was laying in his crib saying "Dada Yum Yum" and "Mama Pool" over and over!!

Michelle - I am sorry about the trouble with work. Dh often feels the same way ... wishes they would just fire him. We should hopefully learn more about this new offer this week which would be great! Good Luck ... I suppose it wouldn't be the smartest move in this economy but can you leave, spend the summer with Will and look in the Fall?

Bethany - Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Anyone know when Becky gets back?

WORST PARENTS OF THE WORLD HERE ....

OMG ... DH and I fought all day long yesterday. We are just so stressed with this move and everything. It was horrible. Well, last night our gas grill ran out of gas and DH didn't want to go the .25 of a mile to replace the tank so instead I cooked the burgers inside. DH took the dog out for a walk with Alexander and I cooked. Of course cooking burgers inside makes for a lot of smoke and our apartment is ******** with the fire alarms. I couldn't get them to stop going off. DH comes back inside, locks the front door, washes his hands and goes to watch the rest of the golf. A few minutes later, the alarms is going off AGAIN and DH is just sitting in his chair in the living room. I stomped by him to turn the fan on in the living room and open up the slider ... turning around I see the front door open. RIGHT IN FRONT OF DH. I asked where DS was and he said he thought he was in the GATED kitchen with me. I don't let DS in the kitchen when the oven/stove top is on. DH checked the bed rooms and I ran outside. He's little wagon was gone ... I get to the end of the sidewalk and he is at least 2.5 buildings away, walking down the STREET pulling his wagon. I have NEVER ran so fast in my life, I was so scared. As soon as Alex saw me running he started lauging and running away .... THANK GOD there were no cars coming around the corner he was approaching. It felt like minutes until I got to him and he was at the corner by then. Luckily there were the group of neighborhood teenagers hanging out at the house there and once he got to that corner they would have stopped him and brought him home but still. DH SWEARS that he locked the door but I think that the child latch did not catch because DS can't open that lock yet.

I couldn't sleep last night because I kept having the picture of DS halfway down the street pulling his big wagon all by himself flashing through my head.

Christina ...sorry your move is stressful now but it will soon be over! Glad you realized where Alex was and he was safe...he probably thought he was such a big boy!

Hi all

Christina -- that is so scary about Alex -- glad he is okay. Hang in there with the stress of moving - it is an awful stressful time but it will pass soon!!

Bethany - so cute about Owen's airport friendlyness!!

Michelle -- Will is a big boy -- glad he is doing well. I think we are going to go through the IVF transfer in August -- I am on the meds now in preparation and have a few more tests to still do!

Hello to everyone I missed!

I like the name "Moms to Toddlers (f/k/a the new "New Moms")" but I think we we should wait to start it until we are officially locked on this thread -- I really don't think they are going to lock us and if they do - it won't be for a LONG time.

That's my 2 cents.

-Nicole
