Hey everyone!

FYI - it's free cone day at Ben and Jerry's, so if you have a cone shop by you, head over today! Owen and I walked downtown in the record heat (90-something- ugh!) and stood in line for our free cones. Owen was thrilled with his chocolate ice cream, but adored the cone! Funny kid was talking to that cone for as long as it lasted.

Last month we signed Owen up for a parent-child swim class this summer, and yesterday I suddenly realized that this means I have to wear a swimsuit in public! :scared1: I don't think I'll look horrible, but the last time I bought a swimsuit was 1996! :rotfl:I've just worn that same one or the one I had in college for the few times I've been in a hot tub, sauna, etc. Not much of a swimmer myself. Ugh...so now I think I should look into a new swimsuit, huh. Bummer. I hate swimsuit shopping! Anyone else looking for a new suit this year? Any favorite brands/styles?

Bethany....no help on the swimsuits but eventually this summer I am going to have to buy a new one too...i haven;t bought one since before I got married so almost 5 yrs ago. I'm not looking foward to it too.

I went to gymboree tonight to use my gymbucks...I got these really cute swim shorts

http://www.gymboree.com/shop/dept_o...077&bmUID=1240358991737&productSizeSelected=0

can't seem to find the t-shirt I got to go with it but it was soo cute.

Those of you who have been to disney recently with a small child...are you allowed to bring play things into the pools at disney?

I went in September and we stayed at the CR. We have a floating ring with a canopy for Bryce and the lifeguard came and told me and DSIL (who has the same one) that we were not allowed to use them. I said it was kind of "junky" that they didn't allow a simple float for babies but he said it's because they can't see underneath them. He came back a few minutes later and said we could use them without the canopy only after speaking with another CM. I'm not sure about water wings but tons of kids had on their lifevests. At Poly they were playing with beach balls in the water and CM said nothing. Someone even had a soccer ball in the water, so it might be fun to take it with and try it out. ;)

..........

I have a dr appointment tomorrow and am dreading getting weighed. I wake up starving and think it wasn't that long ago that I enjoyed yet another PBJ! I think the baby is just demanding more, more more. Bryce starting making kissing lips the other night and now he's doing it to everyone. He even makes the smack smack noise. A flirt already, oh mercy! Talk to you all soon.

Jen

Thanks..they were only a dollar so I figured I would get them and put them in the suitcase and they can be blown up there. Maybe just the swimmies bc I can see now that DH, my brother and my dad are not going to want to blow up all of them since we obviously will not have an air pump.

I'm seriously being a little ocd that all the clothes I am finding for him so far has to be Mickey or Disney themed...or themed for the park. I have bought toys, books, coloring books (even the crayons) so far for the boys and they are all mickey mouse themed! :confused3 I have been reading too many trip reports where these kids have homemade clothes for each park...i'm not getting that crazy bc I don;t sew! LOL!:lmao:

hotveggy - how strange that your MIL can't stand to hear a baby cry when she raised 5 children - maybe she just already dealt with hers and can't take anymore? Most grandma's are so thrilled to have a grandchild they don't mind the crying.

JennyL - sorry to hear about your job, enjoy your time home with Noah!

Kara - Good luck with your interviews, when do you think you might hear something? And I don't think your obsession with the outfits is crazy - I did the same thing for Alex's first trip!

Nicole - good luck selling the house, it can take awhile right now, but there are people looking!

Kelly - that is so nice of your brother to buy Brady a swingset! I need a single brother with money to spend! That's great that you have Brady brainwashed already and he runs to the tv when he hears a commercial. When Alex hears the commercials start, he says, "Here comes red Mickey!" or blue or yellow, whatever color the balloon is, somehow he know them all already! :goodvibes

Bethany - too funny at Owen talking to his ice cream cone! :rotfl: Do you know what they were talking about? I would love to look for a new swimsuit, but I have a ton, and probably 4-5 of them still fit, so I don't really have a good excuse when $ is tight right now. I always like the ones in the VS catalog, and Target usually has some really cute ones for cheap.

ShootingStarMom - don't worry about the weight - this is the one time in your life where you want the scale to be going up, it means you're growing a healthy baby! :goodvibes How cute on Bryce's kissing sounds!

Ok - somebody tell me what KUP is, I'm too tired to figure it out!

it took me a while too...keep us posted!! :rotfl:

Jenny so sorry to hear about the layoff. I do hope you can find something you like soon. Enjoy the time with Noah while you can though. I hope that you won't need to stay home, but we just play all day with toys. When the weather is nice we go outside. Still waiting on that more ;)

K_reile, good luck with the job interviews! As for toys, it depends on the CM we have found out. Places like SAB seem to be far more strict. of course quiet pools you can get away with more. I've seen toys in quiet pools but not in main pools. Obviously things like floaties are allowed though. Not much help, eh?

Nicole woo hoo on having your house on the market.

Kelly that is awesome about your brother buying hte swing set. We have too many trees in our yard to have one, so when it comes time for us, we'll just tie a swing from a tree.

Bethany good luck with a swim suit. I admit to wearing bikinis right now. I need to actually check my two out to see if either will work right for this year. I'm about 5 pounds heavier than this time last year, so I need to see how each fits (one is from when I was 5 pounds heavier than now so I might be in that one)
I know many love lands end though. I'm not much for covering up. Not that I have a fantastic body, but I see everywhere other than the US that bikinis are worn by everyone no matter how big or small. I decided not to care. Bathing suits still show the pudge on me and doesn't ever cover the only place I do have stretch marks (hips from HS when my hips widened)

Jen that is so cute about the kisses. I still get the open mouthed kisses more often than not, but he's starting to do the smacking sound on pictures and the like.

LOL, I never would have guessed what KUP meant.

I was busy shopping for all of us. I had to replace three skirts that were killed in the dryer when my husband did it (shrunk the stitching and not the cloth so they don't look right at all) and had to find clothing for DS. I found some skinny 18 months that were longer. And a bunch of 2T shirts. Some are a little long, but honestly I'd rather be bigger and baggier in the heat and have them fit at the end of the summer. I'm not so keen on buying 18 month shirts that will be too short in a month or so.

I have enough for me now too but I need to double check on my shoes to see if I need a new pair or two of flip flops

Good evening ladies! :goodvibes Hope everyone had a good Thursday! Today marks 30-days until Disney for us!!! :yay: I am so excited! My parents came up today to play with Brady, and after a few hours, they were joking about how 9 days with him is going to be super tiring. I told them there was no backing-out now!! ;)

Today we picked a swing-set and ordered it! They are coming to set it up next Saturday, May 2nd. That gives DH about a week to clear an area. :eek: Hopefully he will get it done. We went with the Lexington Series from Creative Playthings. Here is a pic of what ours will look like - only difference is that there will be an extra rope-climbing thing on the side. My parents think we (meaning me and my brother who is getting it for Brady) are NUTSO for spending this amount of money on a swingset. But, we know he will love it for years to come, right?

Kara - When we were at Disney this past September, I saw lots of noodles and balls in the pool, but no infant-type things. We just kinda held Brady and zoomed him around the pool! Funny about all the Disney clothes!! Love it!

Bethany - I feel your pain about swimsuit shopping! I hate it, and need to go get one for our upcoming Disney trip. I have a somewhat nice one from Lands End that I got last summer that I now wear to swimming with Brady. But would like a new one for our trip. Which brings me to my next project, fasting until Disney!! :rolleyes:

Pollito - KUP = Keep us posted! I am on another mommy board where they use all kinds of abbreviations, so some slip-out now and then!

I thought you guys would appreciate Owen's latest fetish: He either wants me to sing "It's a Small World" over and over to him, or he wants to hear "Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirate's Life for Me". :laughing: He comes up to me and either starts swaying back and forth (IASW) or bopping up and down (Pirates), and he gets mad if I won't sing! :lmao: Of course I don't know all the words to either song, so I end up making things up, or after the 20th time through I just sort of hum my way through and try to think of something else so I don't go crazy. I've started looking up videos on youtube with the songs so I don't have to sing them myself. What a nut!

Tomorrow we get to spend the day with the little girl I used to nanny! Her preschool is having a teacher in-service day, so she's coming to our house. Hooray! Owen loves her, and she calls him "hugabug" or "hugabugaboo". DH is hoping to take the afternoon off since he's working late tonight (it's almost 8 here and he's still at work :sad2:), and we'll all go to the children's museum. It would be so much fun!

kelly...that swingset looks really cool!

Bethany--have fun today and hope you get to go to the childrens museum.

Well Caleb has been a grumpy butt these last few days. I hope he is getting his top two teeth and not getting sick. We are having pictures taken with Caleb and his 4 cousins on DH side for my MIL for mothers day. She has never had a picture with all 5 grandkids in one pic (since the last 2 have been born in the last 16 mos and the other 3 all have the same mom) So I am hoping Caleb gets a good nap and is cooperative...but he may be more cooperative than BIL(DH brother) girlfriend.
She is really a witch and won;t do anything with our family and she purposely keeps my newphew away from my inlaws who are the nicest and sweetest people on this earth and have never done anything but try to be supportive (and its hard with bil gf being difficult) and my bil goes along with the GF because he knows if he doesn;t...he is out the door and he will not see that kid! And he is the submissve type and he will never contest custody or anything! She is that controlling! Which is perfect for her...she found the type who will take it...as my DH is the opposite of his brother...he will tell you what he is thinking....he will never let someone walk all over him (or anyone else really but puts up with all this bc he barely has a relationship with his brother anymore to begin with and they were soo close) It drives my SIL (DH sister) and I crazy!
I guess I should be happy that she is even agreeing to the pictures. I just am having a hard time keeping the secret from my MIL since I see her everyday. But I know she will :love: these pictures and who knows when the next ones will be taken!

we have the same swingset and love it. We got it about 5 years ago and it's great. Hubby has had to redrill a couple of boards down, but that's to be expected. We stain it yearly and I love that it looks like new again.

The biggest selling point for me when we got it...the dropped off and put it together. Hubby is great around the house, but not so good at finishing things. I wanted ty to have swingset he could use vs just look at because it wasn't finished.

I'll do an update on Caleb soon, after I talk to pedi, but we are definately heading in right direction.

Oh Stacy - that's great to hear that you have and like this set!!! Where did you get the stain? Is it a special kind? Will we have to do it initially, or just starting next year? Yes, the fact that they will come and set it up is HUGE. My DH is actually pretty handy, but I knew it would be a TON of work and most likely take a few weekends!!

Looks like everyone's been out enjoying the nice weather this weekend!

clgwli - I admit I have always worn bikinis too, even just 4 months after Alex was born, but I'm not quite ready for one this summer - if I could just lose 10 lbs, I would feel a little better. :goodvibes

Kelly - that looks like an awesome swingset - I'm sure Brady will love it!

Bethany - Owen's new fetishes with Disney rides is so cute! I finally got our pictures from the December trip developed, and Alex loves looking at them over and over. And asking to go back to the airplane, choo-choo, and Mickey's Clubhouse. Brainwashing complete - now we just need to work on $$$ so we can afford to take him back! :thumbsup2

Kara - I hope Caleb is doing better and it was just his teeth!

Stacy - Hope all is well with Caleb - any idea when he will be able to go home?

*****************

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was pretty uneventful. Grandma found a little basketball hoop at a garage sale for $5, so we spent a lot of the weekend in the backyard playing basketball and soccer. That's about it!

Hi Guys!! Wow, lots to catch up on!

Kelly - That swing set looks awesome. I can't wait to buy a house so we can set up a swing set for Alexander!!

Pollito, cw - Bikini's ARGH! I haven't worn a bikini in forever. I think I finally wore one on DH's and my first cruise before we were married but it was just for sun bathing. I guess I have always been a bit on the chunky side. I am now up to my highest weight ever ... except while pregnant. ICK ...

Bethany - I love Lands End for bathing suits. It's frustrating having to buy online but if you have a good Sears nearby you can find a lot there. Otherwise, I buy a large selection online and just return them to the Sears store once I figure out what I want to keep.

Stacy - I am so happy that CJ is home!! Let us know how the ped went.

For anyone I missed ... I am sorry.

We are back from our vacation in Myrtle Beach. I can't believe I have a two year old now. The week was decent. It was cool and very windy early in the week and then we had those massive fires in the middle of the week. Friday was a perfect beach day though ... if only we were there this week, it would be perfect!!

Christina - love the pics!

So we had Christopher's birthday party yesterday. It was just our families here, but he had fun playing with everyone. My sister got him a Big Wheel bike - he can't reach the pedals, so he just goes around the house like he's on one of those baby riding toys. Every present he would open, he would bring it to someone, and then go back to the box or paper. It took him forever to open his presents. :) He did really well, and in spite of all the food, still managed to have a good blood sugar

Christina - What awesome pics!!! Looks like Alexander had an awesome time in the water! We rented a beach house right on the water in Newport, RI in July - hopefully Brady will enjoy it as much as Alexander did! :)

Jen - Happy Birthday to Christopher! Sounds like his birthday was a blast...can't wait to see pics!

*******************************************************

So of course, being the major worrier that I am....something like Swine Flu has to happen 4 weeks before I leave for Disney. :sad2: I keep telling myself that maybe it will have fizzled-out by the time we leave....but then I wonder, what if it gets worse??? DH is completely unphased, and tells me to just pack more hand sanitizer. :headache: I guess time will tell!

As for other major news, it has been 85 degrees here for the past few days! Very hot for this time of year in New Hampshire. Brady has been loving playing outside, and we actually had to install our window AC units!!

Wow, lots of 2 year olds now! I'm still getting used to having a 1 yr. old... :rotfl:

No swimsuit yet, but I did decide that I want to get a tankini this time around. I do have a bikini, but only DH gets to see me in that! ;) I really love earth-tones, so I'm hoping I can find a tankini in that range of colors.

Okay, so in the category of "it would have been nice to know this in advance": Today we had spray foam insulation installed under our house, and the contractor forgot to tell us that we couldn't be in the house while the insulation was being put in! :sad2: So they get here at 8:30 and tell me this, and I'm supposed to babysit kids from 2 different families at my place today, plus there's Owen and his naps and snacks and meals, the cats to move somewhere, and our guests staying in the addition over the garage to worry about. Everything did work out in the end - after just 30 min. of insanity on my part calling assorted friends and family - but it would have been nice to get that all set up ahead of time. :rolleyes: Took me another 30 min to pack up Owen and all our stuff and head over to a neighbor's house, but at least everything worked out, and now we're back home in a slightly stinky but insulated house.

I am glad we had this done, though. Our house is up on a cripple wall with a dug-out dirt "basement" under it, and there's no subfloor or anything. When you were in the basement area, if you looked up you would see the floorboards of the wood floor, and even a little light shining through in a few places where there were cracks. The spray foam insulation sealed everything up tight, and this should really do wonders for our heating and cooling bills. Plus the floor will be warmer for Owen when he's playing.

It comes stained. they recommend restaining yearly. Creative playthings does sell stain, but hubby just went to hardware store and got some...probably much cheaper.

Hey ladies- been a few weeks- been crazy busy at work and at home- Mom had brain surgery.....i leave on the podcast cruise in 9 days. I'll be cruising with Pete (the owner of this site) and the gang! can't wait. We are flying in on may 8th, doing DTD and dinner at Boma, staying at the Dolpin at a special $99 rate. Then doing the KTTK tour on May 9th and day at the MK. then we leave on the 4 night wonder cruise on may 10th-14th. It is just me, my parents and my cousin- since it is all DISNEY freaks that listent to the podcast, i didn't want to overwhelm DH or DS. We are all going in December for 10 days anyhow. There are lots of special dis fan events planned, a brunch, reception in the Walt Suite where Pete/Walter are staying and a disney historian lecture. can't wait! I need a vacation.

Mom had brain surgery on April 6th. They cut her from ear to ear, shaved her head about an inch/half back. It was an 8 hour surgery. The removed a tumor from her pitutary cavity (she had another tumor and her pitutary removed 2 years ago) right in the middle of her head that was putting pressure on her optic nerve. She was losing vision. The tumor was benign and we figured that going in, but still pretty traumatic. She has some memory loss, personality changes and is very weak, tired and can't see out of her left eye now. her vision should come back in a few months as the optic nerve heals. I hope she can manage the cruise and getting around- we got her a cane, since she has no depth perception, so she walks around like a blind person, feeling for stuff.
I am sorry to fly by and do an all about me post but I need your good thoughts and prayers. Thanks.
Christina- i am so sorry- i was thiking about you before I even came back to post- wondering how you were doing. You are still in my prayers and thoughts. big hugs to you.

Oh - check out this funny video of Brady dancing to Flo Rida. Last week this aired on Ellen, and I taped it because Brady was hysterical, bouncing around the family room. Now we play it for him all the time and he LOVES it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOByUQAL7c4
I love his dance video- so cute! I still keep up with his blog!

Sorry to do a drive by "me" post but I'm really upset...can't sleep as a result - its past midnight and I am still up and I need to vent!!

-Nicole
hugs to you too Nicole- that must have been difficult, but i think you did the right thing. It is sad they are in over their head, but you also have to look out for your own family too. Have you had anymore luck in the house hunt now?

Can I join? I have previously been on the "Moms to Be" Thread, but since I am a mom now, I guess I need to move over here!
Welcome aboard!!!! :goodvibes

~~~~~
And in a surprising new twist, Owen has started walking! :cool1: :lmao: Just cracks me up!
that is awesome news!!!!!! Yeah Owen!
Wow thats alot of words. Noah only has a handful that everyone can understand. He says mom, mama, dad, dada, hey, bye, more, dog, kittie, snack, dink (drink), gin (for again), bah bah (for bottle), grandad (which seems crazy but its plain as day), he has said grandma but its not all the time. He keeps saying what sounds like Ah boo and I have no idea what it is. He says it all the time and it doesn't appear to be at anything inparticular so I'm stumped.
\
Will is 18 months this week and he is behind in words too. heck, yours seems to have more than mine does! He does say uh-oh-dada as his new thing lately. I figure it will come in time, I am not going to get concerned until 2years if we still have issues then. For now- he is starting to babble a whole lot more and i am guessing his big language explosio will happen soon!
Hi,
I was hoping to join your thread. I'm an 'old mom' to a 17 month old and have one on the way. It would be nice to share info and stories about little ones DS1 age. :goodvibes
Welcome!!!:thumbsup2
I'll haev to post again and catch up more!!!! ;)
so do you guys have a suggestion for a good potty for potty training? Will is not at all interested yet, in fact he doesn't tell us when he is wet or dry and he wakes up soaked. gotta convince DH to cut back on the nighttime cups! but i want to be prepared when/if he is ready.
i udpated his blog-
http://williamreed1.blogspot.com/
Nicole- awesome news on the transfer- what meds are you doing? do you have a ballpark idea of the transfer date? will they put all 4 back? I am so excited for you!!! i am cheering you guys on. at least you know what to expect this time.
Pollito- hope Alex is doing well. is his ear better? How are you feeling? I've been sick with the chest cold too. hope you feel better!
Stacy- holy cow- what a scary story, but so so glad you and little Caleb are doing well. you are in our thoughts and prayers. What a trooper you have there. hope you both continue to do better. we can't wait to see some pictures of your beautiful little boy! Congratulations. ;):wizard:
Meredith- aweomse on Zoe going potty! and congrats on the March of Dimes walk. great job!
JennyL- so sorry to hear the job news. big hugs to you. i know it is tough times for a lot of folks job wise lately. hang in there.
Denise- glad to hear you guys are okay after the car accident, how scary!!! i hope your grammy is feeling better. how is little mo? how is the new job?
Bethany- try Land's end online for bathing suits, a ton of people on our podcast cruise ordered through there and love them. i got one at the gap and one at old navy this year and then a tankini at Penny's.
Kelly- 30 days? how exciting- where are you guys staying again? AKL? and yeah for adding on days, we tend to do that too. just a day here or there. We aren't DVC, but for our DEc trip, we planned to leave on Friday, now we decided to leave Thursday night instead and stay off site cheaply the first night. of course i haven't told DH that yet. :rotfl: the swing set looks great- i'm jealous! :) oh and there is now officially a case of the swine flu in Orlando today. we have a few cases here in the DFW area- a school is shut down for a week just like 10 miles from my house- a 7yo has it. plus tons of suspected cases there, very scary.
Christina- Myrtle beach loooks like it was great fun!!! hope you guys had a good time!
