Denise - Congrats on the job!! Don't worry about coming here just for support. Sometimes that's all we need without having to worry about "keeping" up with everyone else. It's what friends are for.

Kelly - Holy Crap $650??? How much did you send in? I have a package on the table I need to send to them. I don't have much though, probably about 12-15 pieces. I thought for sure I had more but I think a bunch are up in Boston. Ironically we went to Carter's today and bought more PJ's ... size 4T. :eek:

****
Going to have to catch up with you guys soon, maybe tonight. DH's talk at work did not go well. At all. It was pretty bad. It's ok though ... he is looking for a new job and is 1/2 way through the interview process with one company that looks very promising. It's a HUGE widely known company which might be a nice change from these smaller companies he has been at. More structure!

DMickey, I'm sorry the talk didn't go well, but I wish him all the luck in getting a new job! :wizard:

Kelly, $650 is awesome!!! Have fun at the baby fair.

Nicole, hopefully Izzy sleeps better tonight. And, congrats again on becoming an aunt!!!

Spencer just rode a pony and loved it. My MIL has a horse farm and so he is around horses all the time. DH put him on one of the ponies and held on to Spencer while it walked. Spencer laughed so much!

We are suppose to go to Epcot on Sunday for the Flower and Garden Festival. My MIL and FIL want to go too and eat lunch at Biergarten. I am hoping it goes well (FIL tends to wander off).

Hey ladies. I have been all engrossed in Facebook, my gosh. It's like a drug. :laughing: A drug that makes me really unproductive.

Kelly- $650?! Holy cow! That is awesome. Now I am going to have to drag Vaylie's stuff up- any idea how many things or outfits you sent? I have to see how many items I have. I doubt $650 worth, but I know we have quite a bit- and I always got it on sale. The Baby Fair sounds like fun! And glad you guys are on the mend- that sounded rough!

Denise- That is great news about the job! :)

Ash- LOVE that dress, love the color! And when I lose weight, I think of it terms of sticks of butter. So 27 lbs- you melted 108 sticks of butter off you body! :eek: WOW!

DMickey- I hope your DH gets the new job- his company sounds like entirely too much drama. And I can't believe you bought 4T pjs!! :laughing: You have got one big little guy! Vaylie still sort of swims in 24M stuff. :cutie:

Amber- I am so jealous of your impromptu trips to WDW! I wish I could head to Epcot for a day- I'd head straight for the bakery in France. Mmmmm.

Nicole- congrats on being an Aunt! My sis is due Nov. 12th, and I have one nephew already (BIL & SIL's son)- so I am excited for a baby to hold. And give back. For now. :rotfl:

WDWChewy- welcome- it sounds like you have been through quite an ordeal with your little one! Feel free to stick around and talk if you need to. :goodvibes

Bethany- hopefully the EI will have Owen cruising around in no time. Although- I gotta warn ya- it's a mixed blessing. Because walk---> run is a very short time frame, and they never slow down.... :rolleyes1

Michelle- I think it was somewhere between 18-20 months that Vaylie started picking up SO many more words. Like Kelly said, it was the language explosion! It's still exploding. ;) And I have DH put Vaylie down at night too, because she will try anything to get me to stay with her.

Ok- I know I missed some ladies, and I apologize. I think I had 3 pages to read! :goodvibes So "HI" to everyone!!

~~~~~~~~~~~
We're going shopping and out to eat tonight. I need a new outfit- tomorrow I am going to the Fox Theater in St. Louis (LOVE :love: the Fox!) to see "Cirque Dreams" with a friend. I am so excited!!! But, I feel like I have nothing to wear. Well, I do have clothing, but it's all "work at a bank" clothes or "comfy mommy" clothes- nothing that says "fun, sassy lady going out for a night on the town." :lmao:
yeah, I know! I've already bought one of those monkey backpack harness/leash things because I KNOW Owen is going to be one of those kids who just wants to take off and doesn't listen. He's already shown signs of it: when he sees something he wants to explore, he just goes crawling over there as fast as he can and gets all engrossed in it, and it's like he doesn't even hear me saying "no" or "stop". And when he does hear me, he just moves faster like he's thinking "I have to quick get there and look at this before mom stops my fun!" My brother was like that, and from what I've heard DH was, too. So I bought the monkey harness/backpack/leash thing and I will use it. I used to be one of the "I can't believe someone would put their child on a leash and I'll never do that" people, but now I applaud parents for being safe and sane!
I got the paperwork for CA EI today, and good heavens! It's like a book! My college application was shorter, including the essays! I'm supposed to give the dates on things like when Owen first brought something to his mouth, when he first lifted his head up, when he first turned his head to follow something visually, etc. etc. It's not just things like "first smile" or "first laugh" that you'd put in a baby book. And of course I lost most of Owen's "firsts" when my computer crashed (I had them all in a document on my computer and it wasn't backed up), so I don't even have the normal stuff to try and figure out the rest. Ugh. Oh well. I just guessed on it.
lilianddomsmom - Hi, and welcome!
wdwchewy - welcome, and what a frightening time you went through. I hope your little angel is doing well and can leave the hospital soon.
Nicole - Funny that you asked about the facebook gifts, I don't really know how they work either and am still trying to figure it out! I just push accept then see what happens next. How crazy that Izzy prefers Staples over TRU! I hope she's feeling better! Congrats on becoming an aunt!
Bethany - we feel the same way about spending money, we'll do it for quality, but I still always look for the best price I can find and don't spend money just to spend it! It sounds like Owen did great at his check-up! Alex has one of the monkey harness backpacks and he loves it. When we put him in his stroller, he says, "No! Monkey backpack!" :rotfl: It is so much better for us b/c he is a runner. He is just now at 2 years starting to get a little better and stay by us when we tell him to. Whenever we go into a store, I would always lecture him, "No running" and DH would say, "No correle" (same thing in spanish). So now whenever we go into a store, I say, "Is Alex going to be good?" And he says, "No running! No correle!" So cute, he knows the rules, just doesn't always follow them! :goodvibes
Kelly - sorry to hear you were all so sick, you're lucky to have family so close to help out! I can't believe you are getting $650 back!! Now I'm going to have to go check out all of Alex's old clothes and see about sending them back.
Ash - congrats on the weight loss, that's great! I'd like to lose about 10 lbs, but am not trying very hard. :sad2: I just need more time to work out.
Jenny - How's Noah's pinkeye?
Kreile - I like your bridesmaid dress and love the color!
Michelle - isn't it hard to catch up here sometimes with all of the pages of new posts? Alex wasn't much interested in watching tv yet at 18 months either, it started later.
Denise - congrats on the new job!
DMickey - wow 4T! Alex usually wears a 24 month or 2T in Carters. Sorry to hear your DH's talk didn't go well, hopefully things turn around soon.
Amber - How cool that Spencer rode a pony!
But, I feel like I have nothing to wear. Well, I do have clothing, but it's all "work at a bank" clothes or "comfy mommy" clothes- nothing that says "fun, sassy lady going out for a night on the town." :lmao:
:rotfl2: Too funny - I think I have the same wardrobe! I never know what to wear on one of the rare ocasions when I go out!
OMG!!!!
When it rains it pours...I am so excited!! I couldn't post this on Facebook yet because my brother-in-law and I have alot of friends/family in common on FB and he doesn't want anyone to know for another few weeks...but I am bursting so I needed to tell you guys!!!
My brother-in-law and his wife are pregnant!!!
On Thursday we found out that my brother and his wife are pregnant - due October 29th!!
Well tonight we just found out that my brother-in-law and his wife are also pregnant and due on October 28th!!!
Incidentally, Izzy's birthday is Oct 21st and my birthday is October 30th -- so the end of October is going to be quite busy with parties in my family!!!!
I am so happy for my brother-in-laws' wife (who I call my sister-in-law) because she is my age and they have been trying for 3 years and she was one month away from IVF!!! They have been doing IUI's and she was on her 6th IUI cycle and they had upped the meds and when she had her ultrasound to check on follicles there were 5-6 eggs and they were nervous about having the IUI with so many follicles - so they cancelled it -- but they --- you know [wink, wink] anyway -- figuring it hasn't worked in 3 years on their own so what the h*e*l*l...and wouldn't you know it - they get pregnant "naturally" (not entirely since she was pumped full of meds to grow the eggs but you know what I mean...)
She already had an ultrasound and they saw the heartbeat -- and there is only one!!
I am so excited for them!! And for me -- an Aunt x 2 -- 2 new cousins for Izzy both born within days of each other!!
You know how it feels when someone who has been trying to get pregnant forever and has sought medical intervention finally gets pregnant -- you are simply elated for that person -- and that is how I feel for my brothe-in-law and his wife...I couldn't be happier for them!!
Ok -- thanks for letting me share -- they have forbid me from telling anyone (IRL) just yet!!
This has been a weekend of lots of blessings and happiness!!
Hope you guys had a great weekend as well!!
Hugs,
Nicole
Nicole that is awesome that Izzy will have 2 cousins so close to each other. She won't know what to think huh!!
I think Caleb has his first real bad cold. He's had a cold before but this time he has a nasty cough and goopy nose. I have had him take his naps in his car seat today so he can breathe better. And he is now sleeping in his car seat tonight in our room. I am hoping he will sleep decent tonight as he has been waking up the past two mornings at 5:45am. I'm now wondering bc maybe he was starting to get sick. Lets hope that is it anyways...waking up at 5:45am on the weekend is not fun!
Caleb and I went shopping on Sat with my mom. We went to Hobby Lobby and got stuff to make the wedding shower invitations for my best friend. We were in there a long time and he did really well. He feel alseep in Hobby Lobby and slept through the whole time we were in JoANne Fabrics. We then went to Kohls and he woke up there.
My gripe with shopping for 6-9 mos clothes is that all shorts are out right now. He does not need shorts right now...he will need pants...I could only find one pair of pants in his size at Kohls. They had 12 mos and up but not much in 6-9 mos. Then I went to the mall...went to Gymboree and got a few clearance pants and some long sleeves (which were also hard to find). Went to Childrens Place and looked at their pants but decided to go to JcPenny first since I had coupons. Looked at their jeans and seriously for only $2 more the Childrens Place pants were much nicer and I like that when he gets into 18 mos that they are the extended tabs bc I have a feeling he will be a tall skinny kid. BUT he started getting fussy in JcPenny so we had to go home so I never really did get pants for him. Really only a couple of pairs. He has plenty of shorts that I hope he can get into!
I did not buy him clothes in this size earlier bc I had no idea when he would be in this size and if he would even be in this new size when it is still a little cool out. Its soo hard to try to guess sizing and when.
Where my brother lives there is a nice OshKosh and Carters outlet and my SIL gets pretty good deals there for clothes for my newphew. My mom wants to go up soon and get the boys some clothes. I think I will just start getting 12 mos bc I think he is pretty much set in 6-9 minus some pants.
Oh and at Gymboree I liked that they had 6-12 mos, so at least even though their clothes are more expensive it will last a little bit longer. I bought everything on clearance but I got $25 gymboree bucks for April---so if I spend $50 then I will get $25 off. I think I will get him the cute little swim set they had but I would not buy not on sale. And of course probably some pants! :rotfl:
Overall he did great shopping. We were gone from 10:30am til 6:30pm so he did pretty awesome!
Hope you all had a great weekend!
Congratulations Nicole!!! I have four nieces who are all very close in age (2000 and 2001 was a busy baby birthing year! LOL) and they are the best of friends. It has got to be great having cousins like that to grow up with.
Hi everyone!!
Nicole - that's exciting about all the babies!
Kara - I've had the worst time shopping for clothes too lately. I need pants for now, and all that's in the stores (and on sale) is shorts. And fairly ugly ones too ;)
DMickey - 4T :scared1: Wow, I thought Christopher was tall, and he's only in 3T.
Bethany - good for you going for the EI stuff. I wasn't sure he'd qualify when we did the eval, but I knew I'd feel better if someone else looked at him more objectively than I could
wdwchewy - welcome! And what a scary story. Hope things are going well.
Hi everyone else!
So we had a great time at teh aquarium. He was fascinated by watching the fish in the big tanks. There was a shark that kept coming right up to the window, and Christopher would start laughing and point at it. He only lasted for about 90 minutes before he was really tired, but he had a good time for those 90 minutes anyways. He loved riding the T - especially when we sat up towards the front and he could watch the driver. :)
Jen
Jen - That's great Christopher had fun!! I want to take Alexander to the zoo but I just never seem to find the time!
Nicole - Congrats!! That's awesome!
Kara - I take it for granted how easy I have it with shopping for clothes. I buy 90% of his stuff off the clearance racks because I don't have to think about sizes vs. the time of the year. I am a sucker for Gymboree though I always have a coupon but sometimes I buy the regular priced stuff with just a 20% coupon. I do have $50 in Gymbucks to use ... can't wait!!
I LOVE the Children's place pants. They are so much nicer quality then the other "cheap" ones out there but sooo affordable. Our Children's Place outlet is not any different than the regular stores though.
Nicole, CONGRATS!!! That is so exciting!
Kara, sorry you didn't have much luck in finding pants. That is one nice thing about living in FL, it doesn't matter if I buy shorts, because it's pretty warm all winter.
I hope Caleb fels better.
We had a FANTASTIC time in Epcot yesterday. My FIL decided not to go, but my MIL still went. We ate at Biergarten and Spencer had the time of his life. As soon as the band started playing, he was boucing and waving his arms. I don't think he sat down the entire time they played.
We had to stop at Walmart when we left and I found a carseat for $13.50!!! A few weks ago we bought a carseat at Walmart that was on sale. We decided a couple of days later to get another, but they were sold out. I checked all the Walmarts near us, plus Target, and checked online, but couldn't find it anywhere. I saw several sitting on a shelf yesterday, but no price. When the cashier rang it up is was $13.50 (she even did it twice because she couldn't believe the price).
We were rear ended on the way home too, but it didn't do much damage.
NICOLE- how awesome, what great news for your brother and your BIL! and even more exciting like you said, when it is someone you know struggled like we did, it makes it all the more sweeter. and 'naturally' too after so many IUI cycles. yeah for october!! :goodvibes:thumbsup2
Kelly- thanks for the info on the language, i don't feel as bad now. hopefully he will 'explode' with it in the coming months! $650 for clothes? :rotfl:holy cow that is a lot. time for some shopping! ;)
Dmickey- sorry to hear about DH's work meeting. keep us posted on how the new search goes.
Kara- hope Caleb gets over his cold quickly.
Bethany- yeah for Owen gettting some free therapy! i am sure he will grow out of it like they said. he'll be walking before you know it. and yep, you are right- they are all over the place. Will loves to explore, he just wants to go outside and walk around and go up and down steps over and over. :rotfl2:
saw disney on ice yesterday, Will enjoyed it and did better than i thought. He passed out for the last third, which it was during his naptime, so to be expected. his cousins had a blast too and everyone was well behaved too. :thumbsup2
So I bought the monkey harness/backpack/leash thing and I will use it. I used to be one of the "I can't believe someone would put their child on a leash and I'll never do that" people, but now I applaud parents for being safe and sane!
I was TOTALLY one of those people!!!! :lmao: I used to see parents with their kids on leashes/harnesses/whatever and think to myself, "poor kid, being treated like a dog. Some people." :sad2:
OMG. I feel sooooooooo bad now. Because I get it now. I understand that your kid goes from completely still to 80mph in 0.4 seconds (and adults can't move near as fast). And they dart into oncoming traffic (pedestrian or motor- they don't care). And they run and hide. And they want to walk, they do NOT want to hold your hand, and riding in the stroller? OUT of the question, thankyouverymuch, Mommy. SO, I say, stay sane, use a harness!!
I got the paperwork for CA EI today, and good heavens! It's like a book! My college application was shorter, including the essays! I'm supposed to give the dates on things like when Owen first brought something to his mouth, when he first lifted his head up, when he first turned his head to follow something visually, etc. etc. It's not just things like "first smile" or "first laugh" that you'd put in a baby book. And of course I lost most of Owen's "firsts" when my computer crashed (I had them all in a document on my computer and it wasn't backed up), so I don't even have the normal stuff to try and figure out the rest. Ugh. Oh well. I just guessed on it.
Who would remember that stuff?
When we went to Vaylie's 2 yr appt, I was supposed to fill out this questionnaire about her development (motor, language, etc.). Some of the questions just left me going, "How the hell would I know?"
Like:
"Is your child able to thread beads onto a string?" (Is this a test? Were we given string and beads? Were we supposed to practice? Because I'm not sure the opportunity to thread beads (aka small choking hazards) onto string has ever presented itself).
"Without showing him how, does your child purposefully turn a small, clear bottle upside down to dump out a crumb or Cheerio?" (Again, I'm not sure, and I came unprepared- it seems I left my stock of clear bottles at home, although I do have Cheerios).
I guess Vaylie would do those things, but I was like, is this in some sort of parent-instuctional activity handbook that we missed out on? :lmao: (Most of the other questions were easier to answer, like, "Does your child use a fork?" - Ok. That I do know. ;) )
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well, "Cirque Dreams" was really cool! Imagine if Broadway met Cirque du Soleil, their baby would be "Cirque Dreams." We had fun.

Nicole- that is awesome about another baby on the way!!! :cheer2:

Becky too funny about the 2 yr developmental milestone questions. I had to do that at Caleb's 4 mo appointment....like if he is on his stomach can he hold his head at 45 degree angle and 90 degree angle?? I was pretty sure he could do both but froze and was like now i am not sure. So i had to put him on his belly and yep he could do both.

Becky - That's funny about the tests. You have to wonder with the bead question if you answered "YES" would they come take you away because you admit to giving a toddler a chocking hazard. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't.

***
NADA going on here. I am 4DPO right now in this cycle. I feel good about it but who knows.

My brother is in WDW right now and I called DH at work to ask him if I could drive up for a few days. I am sooo jealous. I was just there but I want to go back and hang out with my brother. He is coming down here on Wednesday! I am hoping having them here keeps my mind of POAS! I am an addict ... When will it be my month?

Nicole - yay for new babies! And you are right about feeling so much happier for people that you know were trying so long. I think if I had a friend or relative nearby with a new baby it find satisfy my baby fever, for a little while anyway.

Kara - poor Caleb, is he doing any better yet? If you have an Old Navy near you, try that for pants. They are sized 6-12 months and I really like them for Alex, who is also tall and skinny. He can still wear the 12-18 months from there on his waist (shorts only) but needs a 2T for length in pants.

Jen - the aquarium sounds like fun!

Christina - isn't it great being able to wear shorts and t-shirts at least 75% of the year? :goodvibes

Amber - I know I've said this before, but I am so jealous of you being able to go to WDW all the time. If only I could convince DH to move down there, but I know it's not gonna happen. What a great deal you found on that car seat - what brand is it?

Michelle - How long was the Disney on Ice show? It sounds like fun, but I don't know if Alex would sit still more than 10 minutes! Did you have to buy Will his own ticket or could he just sit on your lap?

Becky - my crazy doctor had us answer some off the wall questions like that at Alex's 18 month appointment. I was just looking at some of them thinking, "I've never tried to have Alex do that, should I be doing that? OMG, what a terrible mother I must be if I never give Alex the opportunity to string beads!" :lmao:

Politto: Caleb still sounds horrible. He has a nasty little cough and he is stuffy/runny nose. I went and got his prescription filled from the last time we were at the doctor bc he wanted me to wait to see if he got better or not. It is just really a cough syrup which he will need. I made him sleep in his car seat yesterday for naps and last night in our room in his car seat. He slept great for not really feeling well. Luckily he is not that far removed from sleeping in his car seat that he would do it. I guess that is one good thing from the reflux :rotfl:
MIL says she can't believe how good of spirits he is for not feeling well. Said he has just been a babbling all day. I have a feeling he is going to be a motormouth...all he does is babble. :rotfl2:

Poor little guy, doesn't your heart just ache for them when they are sick like that? :lovestruc I hope the medicine helps. Alex always slept best in his swing when he was sick, guess that's a similar position to the car seat. :goodvibes Oh, and he was a babbler from the start too and has never quit. He's now up to paragraphs! :rotfl2:

Alex is finally learning to share and I am so proud of him, I have to share this story. Being an only child with no other young kids in the family, he has pretty much had everything to himself since he was born.

I took Alex to get his hair cut on Sunday, and it's a kids' haircut place that has one of those thomas the train table sets in the waiting area, which Alex absolutely loves playing with. As soon as he was done getting his haircut (watched Cars during the cut), he ran back to the table, and apparently grabbed a train from another little boy before I got there because when I turned the corner Alex had a train in his hand and the other boy was crying.

I told Alex to give the other boy the train back, and he actually did without putting up a fuss! Normally that would start Alex crying too, but he didn't. Then he took another train off the table that nobody was using and gave it to the other little boy that was still crying. :thumbsup2 He's finally learning to share and that other people have feelings too!

I also stubbed my toe the other day and started complaining that it hurt, so he ran to his room and got his lovey and brought it to me and said, "Mommy want Bupert?" Bupert is what he calls the lovey, and it was so sweet of him to share it with mommy when she got hurt! :hug:

Pollito - That' soo sweet. They are so cute at this age. I was on my last thread of patience today and kind of snapped at him before our swim lesson. I felt so bad when he looked at me and started crying ..

Kara - Poor Caleb. I glad that he is sleeping though.

***
Alexander is still sleeping ... 3 hours now. Gonna go wake him up. He's sleeping a ton lately, I hope he's not going through a growth spurt.

I forgot to tell you guys I set hte oven on fire last night. I swear!!! I hate this apartment. Our fire alarm goes off when the oven gets too hot WITHOUT there being smoke. Yet last night the oven was on fire with smoke everywhere and it wasn't going off. It's sooo annoying ... it's like a heat sensor not a smoke sensor.
