Amber, sorry that Spencer's being a pill. Sometimes I plop Owen in his packnplay with some toys and books just to give
me a chance to think clearly when he's being disobedient. Since it's right in the living room with me it gives us both a chance to have a little space and settle down, and it works for a re-direction for him. Sort of an early time out for both of us!
Ash, I love the dress! It looks really cute. I wish I could wear strapless dresses and tops, and I'm always envious of women who can. I bet you'll look great in that!
WDWChewy, welcome, and I'm so sorry about your early delivery. Sounds like both you and your little girl are strong fighters!
I admit I really like the name Dom a lot

It seems to have made a big comeback recently too. I just like classic names like that
I have to say I am so happy that I got my DS to eat more today. His bottom 2 canines are through and one molar. The other bottom molar is almost through as is his top canines. Poor guy just worries about food hurting when he eats it I can tell. He's normally great about trying foods. Right now not so much

So far he only really doesn't like yellow peppers. I'm pretty impressed.
That's great that your DS likes trying foods! Owen is like that - he'll try anything we give him, and we can usually get away with giving him 2 or 3 tastes of something at a meal before he'll decide he doesn't want anymore if he doesn't like it. And he's good about re-trying things at later meals, too. So far the one thing he consistently hasn't liked is broccoli - one of my favorite veggies, unfortunately. His new thing is that he loves to lick and chew on the lemon and lime slices we get with our food sometimes! He'll even shudder BEFORE he puts it in his mouth, but he'll still suck on it (and shudder for the first few tastes).

Hope your little guy's teeth stop hurting him soon. Owen is working on his 11th and 12th teeth right now - two molars on the right side.
Bethany I am glad you went on the play date. I admit I live and grew up in "one of those towns" like you described. I noticed the ones who make the biggest deals out of money are the ones who want more and think they don't have enough. The really wealthy in our town knew how to appreciate money and wouldn't bother wasting that kind of money on clothing for every day use. Kind of interesting how sometimes having tons of money makes you appreciate it more.
Glad you found a nice person or two to hang with. I wish there were more SAHMs in my area though. Where I live there are still a lot of elderly.
I hope I don't sound like I think there's anything wrong with having the expensive stuff - I just don't like it when people get obsessed with having something because it's expensive. If someone decides to get a Bugaboo stroller because they've done some research and have decided that it's the right stroller for their lifestyle and they can afford it, great! But some of these women bought their strollers simply because they were the most expensive, and they've said that. That's what bugs me. But I keep reminding myself that just because there are a few of them that discuss that all the time doesn't mean that's how they all think, so I'm really trying to get over myself and hang out with them a little more.
I'm good friends with 5 or 6 SAHM's in our neighborhood, but they are all crazy busy with lessons and preschool and stuff for their kids or else they homeschool, so it's hard to book playdates with them. These moms from the other neighborhood have more regular playdates at local parks, libraries, museums, etc. so it will be easier (hopefully) to get to know them and for me to get out of the house!
Hi Michelle! That's great that Will is doing so well! The lion roar sounds cute! And I wouldn't worry about the TV thing, either. Owen never sits still to watch anything for more than 10 minutes unless he's sick. He just likes anything with music, so sometimes he'll ask for a show and I know now to fast forward to the parts with songs. He'll watch the song, sway back and forth to it a few times, and when it's over he'll go back to cruising around the room and playing with whatever he can get into.
Denise, that's great on the job at Sears! I'm glad that's working out for you!

Owen had his 15m check up today, and we did get a referral to a physical therapist and a CA early intervention program to work on his walking. The dr. thinks he has some weak muscle tone in his legs and his toes point in a little - both probably from how he was positioned in the womb. She says it's something he'll probably grow out of and not anything really to be concerned about, but we might as well get him into some programs now to work on it, especially since both programs are free. (Bonus!

)
He did charm and impress his dr. with his language and social skills, and showed off some of his few signs. He was too funny flirting with her for part of the appointment, and then mostly ignored her and started asking for "crackers" (any cracker/cookie-like snack), "blueberries" (sounds like "boo-bahs"), "book", "more", "uh-oh" (dropped the book), and "wow" when the dr. gave him a new book. And in between there was plenty of babbling and pointing and clapping, and he even blew the dr. a kiss!

Yep, that's our boy. Not the most coordinated kid on the block, but he'll be sure to share his opinion with you whether you want to hear it or not!
He's not grown much since his 12m appt, and has dropped in the %. He's a little squirt - 21lb1oz (8%), 31" (39%), and 18.5"HC (45%). But when he's not sick heeats like crazy! Breakfast today was 1 scrambled egg, 1/2c strawberries, 1/4c blackberries, 1/2 slice whole wheat toast, and 2 graham crackers, plus about 3oz milk! Snacks are about 1/2 of what he eats at meals, and meals are all about as big as breakfast.
Anyway, hopefully the intervention will help Owen start walking soon.
