Holly, that blog post is hysterical!

I love all the pictures of Amanda - totally cracked me up! Now I'm inspired to see what I can get Owen to do if I pose him with my laptop...
QOTD: Owen was a big pacifier baby - as in, if it fell out he would scream until someone popped it back in for him - and I was about at my wits end with it. I was getting up 3-5 times a night to put it back in his mouth, plus nursing him once or twice, and on car trips I often had to sit with my arm out to hold the paci in his mouth.

Very awkward and painful. So when he was about 5 months old, I stopped giving the paci to him when he was going to sleep, and it was hard at first, but he quickly learned to go to sleep without it. We also switched from regular pacifiers to WubbaNubs, and he can get those into his mouth easier than the smaller pacifiers, plus he chews on the tags and legs if he can't get the paci part into his mouth. I hadn't intended to wean him off the paci's so early, but I just couldn't handle getting up so much in the night when he'd lose the paci. I get really cranky when I'm tired!

We still give him a regular paci from time to time when he's not feeling well or we need him to stay up just a little later than usual, but mostly he's gotten so he has other things to soothe him now, and the WubbaNubs work great as toys/pacifiers.
Kelly, I've never had a 1 yr. old at WDW, but I have used the baby backpacks quite a bit in my childcare days. I've found that some kids really like them, and some kids can take it for a little while and then they want out, and some kids hate them, and it's best to try it out for a while before you NEED the child to cooperate in it. I love the backpacks myself - I like that the babies are up higher and can look around, my hands are free, and the weight is easier to carry than in the front/side, I think. Of course, I also used to go backpacking a lot, so having a baby in a backpack carrier feels more natural to me than the other baby carriers!

You do have to prepare yourself for having drool down the back of your neck and little sticky hands in your hair, and that sort of stuff.
