Happy Mother's Day everyone. I hope you have wonderful weekends. We aren't doing anything. I hope DH remembers, he says he has plenty of time to get something? I told him I'd be happy with a card from him and a card from DS and some flowers. I told him not to spend more than $100 if he wanted to do something and that there were some really pretty flowers at Walmart for $9.95. I am so controlling with the money ... :rotfl2:

DH's partner told him to take me out to our favorite restaurant tomorrow night though! On the company! We are waiting to hear from our friends if we can drop DS off for a few hours otherwise I want to wait until next weekend. It's not very relaxing for me to go out with DS!!! I want to have my wine and surf and turf and not have to keep handing over cheerios or get up 1/2 through to walk DS outside!

Ugh- I hope my DH does better on a card this year. Man- last year's card was, well- not what I expected.

So, last year on Mother's Day, I had a two month old baby. Now, DH always gets me funny cards and then he usually writes something sweet in it. But this card had a creepy chihuahua on the front, all bug-eyed, and it said something like this:

"Mom, now that it's Mother's Day I can finally tell you what I've been meaning to"

Open......

"Sorry I was such a pain in the &^%!"

Nice. My two month old got me that?! Now, his intentions were good- he thought I would think it was funny because my pregnancy was really horrible and did quite literally give me pains in my bum, what with the lovely hemmorhoids and all, but gee whiz. I'm not a totally mushy person but it was my first Mother's Day with my new baby, and I was hoping for something along the lines of, "Thanks for feeding our baby with your body every two hours for the last two months" or "Thanks for having your guts cut open to get her here" and we won't even mention the hyperemesis. Or just, "Thanks for being my wife and a good mom." That would have been great. But, alas, no. Creepy chihuahua telling me my kid's a pain in the rear end.

I cried. And not the good kind.

So, we'll see what Sunday brings. :lmao:

Hubby, Mo, and I are gonna go out to the Destin Commons and then to the beach if it doesn't rain. I'm taking a lunch with us as we don't eat out. It'll be nice a day rain or not. Just happy to be celebrating my first Mother's Day! :yay: :goodvibes :cutie:

Ok Denise- how do you manage that? Like, don't eat out ever? Or, don't eat out very often at all?

I wish I wasn't so reliant on it. I know I'd be healthier for it.

My Mother's Day ought to be interesting..... DH and I both work Saturday night, so we're heading up to my parents on Sunday morning to pick up Christopher. Then we're all going to pick up something for lunch and have a picnic with my grandmother. She has Alzheimer's (not too bad yet, but gets flustered pretty easy). She doesn't do well with crowds, so we figured taking her out to lunch on Mother's Day wouldn't work so well. Hopefully it will be warm enough to be outside, and Christopher won't be too tired from spending the day before with Grandpa :)

DMickey - have a good time! Sounds like fun

My mothers day isn't going to be as planned. Normally we go and take a day trip as a family. I wanted to go to museum of science in boston, DS loves it there. Then we were going to head to my moms on the way home for a turkey dinner w/my parents and grandparents (they live w/my parents). Well that isn't going to happen w/chicken pox boy. Hubby said "I'll go get some lobsters" Gee...not a bad plan :goodvibes Not sure how I want them, steamed, baked stuffed or lobster pie (my favorite). Hubby is the cook in the family and I love his lobster pie!!!

Your hubby makes Lobster pie? I'm impressed!!

Mine thinks his sloppy joes are gourmet! :lmao:

Well, I hope everyone has a fabulous Mother's Day! I have a bachelorette party tonight and some early morning guilt tripping planned by my grandma, but then Mark and Vaylie and I are headed to the art museum. Or maybe the City Museum- I hear that place is cool.

Too bad it is supposed to be so yucky here tomorrow: High of 56 degrees with rain all day. (woohoo). It is MAY! Not March. Oh well. It is what it is!

Have good days ladies and enjoy your time with your munchkins!!

Oh yes, hubby is a great cook. Majority of what I learned to cook was from him. He comes up with these creatations and they are yummy!!

Hey, have you guys heard about this? http://family.go.com/contests/crazy-baby-hair-photo/?CMP=NLC-PB3280816304

Disney is doing a crazy baby hair photo contest. The winner gets $5,000 for baby's college fund! Hmmm...I wonder how weird I can get Owen's hair to look? :rotfl: Not very, I'm afraid. Anyone else have a baby with crazy hair? Maybe one of us could win! :cool1:

YES YES! I was just about to post the link the Brady's pic so you could all vote for him!!! Here it is..... http://family.go.com/contests/crazy.../what-do-you-mean-my-hair-looks-crazy--11540/
If anyone else enters their baby, let us know so we can vote!

I hope everyone has a nice Mother's Day! Some of your stories about your DH's crack me up!! ;) My DH is the type that once he gets me something - he wants to give it to me right away. Flashback 2 months ago, when he came home with the Coach diaper bag I wanted. He's like - "Here's an early Mother's Day gift". Hmmmm...like could you wrap it up and put it away?? So we will see what will happen tomorrow - if that was really my gift just early, or if I will get something else? Ya never know!! We are planning on doing brunch with my family and then back to my parents house to have cake for my moms b-day (May 8th). Should be fun - although brunch is at 1:30 - right before Brady's nap time. So...it could get ugly! ;)

Oh I've got to enter this. I didn't get to comb Ellery's hair down last night after her bath because she was screaming so much and so now it's just sticking straight up.

I voted for Brady! :cheer2: And I'll vote for anyone else from this thread who posts, too! :goodvibes LOVE Brady's photo! Owen just doesn't have crazy hair, no matter how hard we try. :confused3

DH has got a Saturday morning tradition going now that I just love: he calls it "Boy Time" and it really started to give me a chance to sleep in, but now he's got it going as dedicated Daddy-Owen time. He gets up with Owen in the morning, feeds him, gets him dressed, and they head out for "adventures". ;) Sometimes they get groceries, sometimes they go for a walk, sometimes they go visit a friend. But I always get a couple extra hours of sleep, and DH and Owen get a chance to bond without me. DH almost always dresses Owen in some crazy outfit that doesn't match at all, and all the baby stuff is scattered around the house instead of put away, but it's sooooo worth it! This morning DH told me that he thinks Boy Time should always be Daddy-Owen time, even when Owen gets older. I'm not going to argue with that! :thumbsup2

Thanks for voting Bethany!! :goodvibes

I love the Daddy-Owen time....how awesome is that?!! What a great DH to take initiative like that!! :thumbsup2

Honestly, the first few weeks he did it because I was a wreck! I begged him to just take the boy and give him a bottle because I was so tired and all I wanted was a little more sleep! So DH got in the habit of asking me if he should take Owen on Saturday mornings, and now after all these weeks he doesn't even ask anymore. :cloud9: Love it!

Hi. We don't EVER eat out as there aren't any kosher restaurants where we live. Hubby and I eat kosher. The first year was pretty rough, but after a couple visits to Atlanta with a Jewish community and several yummy kosher restaurants, I got over pretty quick. :goodvibes

Ah, I see. I always wondered how people eating Kosher made it- I mean, I rarely think about the rules of Kosher eating since I don't follow them, but when I think about it- yeah, that would be hard to eat out.

Now I'm wondering if there are Kosher restaurants around here... Surely in St. Louis there would be. I know there is a Kosher bakery that makes delicious yummy stuff.

Good to know, Denise! :goodvibes

Out of curiosity I looked to see if there were kosher restaurants in St. Louis.....AND THERE ARE!!! :thumbsup2 :yay: What's the name of the Kosher bakery? Want to see if they are listed on the kosher website.

Owen gave me the BEST Mother's Day present ever....he only woke up once during the night! Woo hoo! :cool1: He woke up at 1:15 to nurse, and then slept right through until 6:15! Hooray!!! I was so excited!

I told Owen that for Father's Day he should try sleeping through the night! :)

Hi ladies! It's been a crazy week - I was in LA on business all week, then came home and we bought a new house on Saturday! We are so excited, but now have to wait ~ 6 months for it to be built. I guess that will at least give us some more time to save money and pay off some debts.

I voted for Brady's crazy hair - too cute! I want to enter Alex b/c he always has crazy hair, but I don't have any pics saved to this computer. They are all on snapfish, but the site is down right now. I will have to check later and let you all know when I enter Alex's pic. He just got a haircut this weekend, so it is pretty calm now, but lots of old crazy hair pics!
