Question for you all - is it possible to be allergic to one brand of diaper and not another? I usually use cloth, so I don't know much about Pampers and such. If I need disposables, I usually have Huggies and he has no problems. I bought some Pampers for him this time, and now he has this rash across the bottom of his belly where the top of the diaper would be. It doesn't look like a diaper rash, and doesn't spread onto the rest of his belly. All I can think is that he must be allergic to something about the Pampers. Is that possible?

It really stinks when they are sick! We are going to try to get an appointment at the doctor for Iz tomorrow too.

Denise -- great pictures -- it is amazing how fast these little ones grow!!

I love when we share pictures -- here are some updated pictures of Izzy.

Who else has adorable baby pictures to share...let's see em...

Nicole - she is gorgeous!

I'll try to post pics soon. Christopher's birthday was yesterday, and we got some pretty funny shots. He was not interested in presents at all, but the birthday cards were fascinating :)

I'll post some new pics tomorrow. I can hear ellery kind of fussing so I better go and get some sleep while I can.

Jen -- I don't know if you can be allergic to diapers...could the diaper be rubbing against him a different way? Maybe try putting some diaper cream in that area to see if it could be a chafing problem. Thanks about your sweet Izzy compliment -- we think she is pretty cute too!

Lots of late night activity on this thread tonight!

I should be sleeping -- it is midnight here -- but I am always wound up on Sunday nights thinking about the busy work week ahead!

Can't wait to see Chris and Ellery's photos!

Night all!

Wow...sounds like I need to get Mo on a better schedule now that I've introduced solids. I do usually give him a 6oz bottle first thing in the AM so I can eat. That's usually around 9am or so. He would have just nursed a couple hours prior to that. I don't think he gets enough from my breast to hold him as long as I like. After I eat I give him bananas or applesauce, and I suppose I should increase the portion now. Then I nurse him throughout the afternoon as much as I can til I see he is disinterested and then I give him a 4oz bottle. I usually do the fruit again in the evening if I'm off from work or I ask hubby to do it when he brings him home from the sitter and then hubby gives him a 6 oz bottle before bed. What do you girls think? Should I get him on a better schedule or will he do that himself? :rolleyes1

Oh yeah!!! I made my first batch of homemade baby food tonight! Applesauce!!:yay: It was so simple. I peeled, cut and cored the apples, cooked them til soft and then threw them in the new blender we purchased this evening. Now tomorrow, Mo will get to try mommy's applesauce instead of the store bought for adults. :woohoo: I put some in a little container for tomorrow and the rest is in an ice cube tray in the freezer for later. Wish me luck! I think I'm going to introduce a couple veggies to him next week and then some more fruit. I think sweet potatoes and peas will be the first two.

Denise - The pics are GREAT! I can't believe how big Mo is! I feel like you just brought him home a few weeks ago!! He looks so strong on his tummy. Good for you for doing a lot of tummy time with him. As for a feeding schedule, I would try to slowly get him on 3 or so meals a day with some snacks if need be. I think he may naturally get on some sort of schedule, but it may take a lot longer.

Nicole - I love Izzy in her Red Sox outfit!! Go Sox!! We are leaving the 14th, so we overlap for one day! We are flying in/out of Manchester - I live pretty close to the airport, so it makes it really easy. We are staying at the Boardwalk Villas, and going with my parents and brother as well. Should be pretty fun!

Jen - Funny you should post that about Pampers. We usually use Huggies, but DH came home with Pampers a few days ago. I have noticed that they smell different? Almost chemically? I really don't like them, and went out and bought more Huggies! So maybe the rash is from the diapers!!

Thank you Kelly! :goodvibes What kind of snacks do you give a 4 1/2 month old? :confused3 I'm still introducing solids to him. I'll be starting veggies next week so he can have a little variety. I'm writing down today when he's eating and how much so I can share it with his pediatrician when I go today to see if I need to make any adjustments. So far he's had solid food at the 2 hour mark. First at 8:30 and then again at 10:30. I'm going to see if I can nurse for the rest of the day til it's time for his evening bottle. Wish me luck.

I guess I was thinking of nursing as a "snack"! You could slowly transition him to 3 meals a day. I assume you nurse him when he gets up in the am? Then maybe some cereal and fruit for "breakfast" - then a snack of nursing before his am nap - then simply nurse for "lunch" - then a snack of nursing before his pm nap - then cereal and veggie for "dinner" - then a snack of nursing before bed. Then you could start to get on sort of a routine. I kinda did that for Brady (although by 4 months he was formula fed, so I gave him bottles) and now that he is older, I will do Cheerios/Puffs/Yogurt or something like that for a snack if I feel like he's a bit hungry and it isn't a "meal" time yet. Although I still give him 3-6oz before each nap and bedtime. I would talk to your ped. I am FOR SURE not the expert here!! :rotfl: I know with nursing you do it more often than babies that are formula fed, right? So it may be different or harder to do until Mo is on more solid foods. Keep us posted! :goodvibes

WELL DUH!! Thank you Kelly! :thumbsup2 Nursing as a snack....good idea! And as a matter of fact, before he went down at 9:45 he had just nursed. I will keep you all posted. He's fussy! Must go! :goodvibes

Question for those of you who post pictures.. how do you post them so that the picture isn't gigantic (like mine are!)? LOL

I started Amanda on cereal (very runny) this past weekend, and she loves it!!!

I got a kick out of the "snack" thing.. Amanda likes her "snacks" too! And by snacks, I, too, mean a BF snack! lol

Hi

I just recently learned to use photobucket for picture posting -- I upload the pictures from my home computer -- and then there is a button called "edit" - click on that and you get a "resize" option -- I use the 300 x 200 website size.

I am by no means an expert at posting pictures yet but I hope to become one soon so I can post pictures in my trip report and food report in September!

Hi Moms!

This is my first time on this thread (I can't seem to take myself away from the "moms to be" thread just yet.

Our little Abigail is about to be 6 months (on 05/08) and still nurses exclusively. Our Ped. doesn't want us to add solids until after her 6 month shots.

Here is the question I have. We think she is teething (her bottom jaw has two little distinct tooth shapes coming up in the front). She was miserable this past weekend (so was mom and dad). She was up every hour on the hour starting at 11 p.m. This is a child that goes to sleep at 8 and gets up at 5:30 - 6 every morning.

She was congested this entire weekend. Kept waking up because she couldn't breathe because her nose was all stopped up. We used the steam in the shower, the cool mist humidifier, Little Remedies Cold rub on her chest, and a little tylenol. The Ped said we did everything right and just let it run its course.

When your little one was teething, did you notice the congestion? We used the cool/frozen teething rings and she was constantly gnawing on them. Also, the only one she wanted was Mommy this weekend. Which was great, but mommy needed a little break too!

Are there any other suggestions on things to do to help relieve the congestion issue?

Any time Christopher is teething, he's stuffy. We've found that steam is about the best thing for him. He also really likes bottles then - we give him a bit more formula than he would usually get, and then he gets water. Funny, he really likes that part.

Holly – so sorry to hear about your friend, she will be in our t&p

Denise - Welcome! Good to see you finally make it over here, and Mo is so handsome! I can't believe how big he is!

Nicole – love the pictures of Izzy, especially the one with Porkchop

Kelly – I don’t like how the Pampers or Luvs smell either; it’s Huggies only for DS

Gouda – DS is the same way when he is teething, and we couldn’t find any better way to handle it than you have been, you just have to wait it out. Oh, and like Christopher, he really loves water, it is so funny.

Welcome Gouda!! :goodvibes Brady gets the same way when he teeths...slight fever, congestion, clingy, trouble sleeping. I think you are doing all the right things! :thumbsup2 I tend to give Brady more formula when he is ever stuffy or not feeling good....I guess I figure more liquids will help flush everything out - especially if he has a slight cold on top of everything!

Hi All!

It's been awhile since I've posted. Spencer is 7 weeks and amazing. Here are a couple of photos:

He is suppose to get his shots soon and I am getting really nervous about it. His doctor said there is nothing to worry about, but I'm still not sure. I am considering splitting some of them up, but then I feel bad making him go multiple times. Thoughts?

LOVE THE PICS!

I have Mo's shots split up because I don't want him getting 5 at once. He may be able to handle it, but mommy can't! :headache: I took him today for his second batch of shots for his 4 month and he didn't even cry! :cool1: I was so proud of him! His ped told me to give him some Tylenol before coming and I'm wondering if that is what helped. I think Spencer will be just fine! Good luck! :thumbsup2
