I'm a little behind here since I was away from my computer for a while...
QUESTION OF THE DAY What nicknames (real or "silly") do you have for your son/daughter?
Let's see, we call him Owen Rhys a lot, and that's led to Owen Rhysy and "Owen Rhysitude" (as in "Owen Rhysitude, he's my favorite dude!"). There's also little dude, monkey toes (he's always grabbing things with his toes to get them up to his mouth!

), monkey butt, stinker butt, and wiggle butt. Mostly I call him bug and variations on that...bugaboo, cuddle bug, snuggle bug, snuggly-buggaly-boo, cutie bug, little bug, wiggle bug, wiggle worm, and then squirmer wormer. For some reason he cracks up when I say squirmer wormer, so I call him that a lot when he's fussy to make him smile.
I need advice. Recently, Spencer HATES to be put down. He only wants to be held, even to sleep. We have tried CIO, but he goes insane. There is no calming him down. We are trying to take it slow and put him down for a short time, but it doesn't last long. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can stop this?
Oh, I feel for you on this. Owen was like that for the first 4 months and it was driving me crazy! I slept with him in my arms at night because it was the only way he would sleep at all, and pretty much all I did all day every day was hold the stinker.
One thing that helped us was buying an Amby baby bed off craigslist. It's like a hammock for babies. Owen liked laying in there better than being flat on his back, so that made it easier for us to gradually get him used to sleeping without being held. We did a modified form of CIO where I would go in and soothe him after a few minutes, and then I'd leave, and the first few days I'd go in every 5-10 minutes, and then the next week I went in every 7-15 minutes, and then gradually lengthened the time between when I'd check on him. Eventually he started sleeping for 45 minutes at a time in the Amby bed during the day, and then one night when we'd put him down for a nap he just slept for 4 hours straight in the Amby, and ever since he's done all his naps and nighttime sleeping there.
I know it doesn't work for all kids, but that's what worked for us. I hope Spencer gives you a break soon! I always tried to remind myself that someday I would miss holding and snuggling Owen...even if right then it was driving me nuts!
Oh my gosh, Alex LOVES dancing! He is a little dancing fool!

He mostly bounces up and down and spins in circles. He also loves the free credit commercial with the guy dressed as a pirate!

irate:
Okay, so now I have that commerical jingle stuck in my head, along with an image of your little guy bopping around to it!!
He has a bunch of nicknames: Boo (the first thing he said), Mistofer Christopher, goomba, and DH's favorite - Barky von Schnauzer (there was this wierd dog commercial, and Christopher would tun around every time the guy said that)
And Barky von Schnauzer just cracked me up!
do you girls mind if i link your blogs to mine- those that posted? it makes it easier for me to read yours and keep up on it!
Link away!
Me too!!! Yuck!! I hate the dentist as well! My back right tooth is killing me....I'm so nervous that I will need a root canal, as there is already a filling there.
Yeah, my teeth were killing me so I finally went in, sure that I had gobs of cavities and would need a root canal, only to discover that I have receeding gums and that's why my teeth hurt all the time. Isn't it lovely that the first thing pregnancy affects is your TEETH?!! Who knew...but my dentist told me that most women have issues with their gums and teeth after having a baby. Lovely.
