The New Me

Who would have ever thought how much information you could get about someone on the net these days. If I had known, I certainly would have never signed up with disboards 4 years ago with my business name. Not too bright.

Not because of anything major, but mostly minor stuff and to avoid any major issues in the future, I have taken on a whole new identity. Now on the "dis", I'm no longer a landscaper, just a deputy trying to keep law and order here in Mayberry.

Some will know who I am but the good thing is, undesireables in life won't. Now when we talk about heading to the Fort for a week, nobody can tell from my dis name that my home will be empty during that time. Again, it's not been a big problem but there have been some small issues. I'm trying to nip any big problems in the bud before they happen.

Wow - sorry you had problems. Do you think it was a regular Fort Fiend or someone who was lurking to gather information only? I never gave that probability any thought.

Yikes! I'm so sorry that happened. Having been raised with a healthy dose of paranoia, that's one of my worries about saying too much online. Over on my blog, I usually only post about our trips well after the fact on the way-off chance that it could be an issue. (We're right down the road from you, too!)

I hear ya on this one. DW Nancy was none too pleased when I was posting FB updates while in DC in mid April.

However, I figure that it was worth it. After all, nobody knows about the secret lair of alligators I keep under the secret trap door in the living room and my unreported cluster of flesh eating zombies that live in the garage who just love to attack unfriendlies!

Of course, the government still knows where you live, so you will still be robbed blind. No stopping that.

I know exactly who you're talking about Dave. They had a title business and had to file. Believe it or not I think her having that unusual "E" on her name is what pulled up a lot of info that normally would not have been seen. I felt really bad for them as she was really nice. They were fixing to make a trip to the fort before all that happened too. Hope things got a little better for her.
