The New Lizard Lounge

Angel16 you didn't miss my trip report - I did! I haven't managed to get around to it. In addition to the usual home-from-vacation catch-up stuff we came home to drama with the in-laws and craziness at work (or maybe that's drama at work and craziness with the in-laws...). A staffer who works for one of my clients is essentially taking a leave-of-absence, but not officially. She basically just doesn't show up, or shows up late & leaves early, and when she is there, she's pretty useless. I have been picking up the slack (good for my bottom line, but not for my schedule) which means lots of time at the computer. By the time I finish that and projects for other clients, I don't want to touch a keyboard or mouse again 'til another lifetime. The Lizard Meet went well, plus I got to meet some DIS'ers who weren't technically "on the schedule" - Minniesota and BCV23 which was fun. As Minniesota said, Marc is terrific, but I'm not sure where exactly he's working at GF; I don't think he is in the planning office.

Prayers & PD to all who need some. Glad to hear lovesdumbo's mom is improving. Hope to hear the same soon about sfbank's FIL. His good spirits and a positive attitude will go a long way towards healing.

Hi All!
Tess-I didn't get a chance to wave goodbye as you head off to my favorite place! Hope you have a great trip and good weather!

Elizabeth-thanks for the advice on resorts. I think I'm going to stick with Poly for now. The only other place calling my name is BWI CL. The GF is just too expensive and while the YC/BC have the great pool we like having a lounge that is always open. My DD loves EWP and beach and I'm afraid she'd really miss it if we did an Epcot resort. In fact when I asked her what she wanted to do on her first day I thought for sure she'd say Splash or Big Thunder but she says she wants to play on the Poly beach and swim in the pool and do those on day 2.

Minniesota-sounds like you've had a very good year. How nice that you'll have a sister trip.

sfbank, my prayers are with you FIL as he begins his chemotherapy. It’s wonderful that he is in good spirits. I truly believe that a good attitude can make all the difference.

spectrum-turbo, now you’ve got my curiosity peaked too! Now you’ve just got to find out that room number so we can see what’s going on! I know, I know, I’m a bad influence. :teeth:

lovesdumbo, sounds like sticking with the Poly is the way to go. Since your DD is looking forward to it so much, it sounds like the right choice for your family. Don’t worry—I’m sure Disney will handle any renovations very discreetly.

Good News, Bad News

Bad news first:

I still don't know what our room will be at GF

Good news.....well actually great, way-cool news

On the ship our stateroom is number 8030 :earseek: . Go ahead look it up, I'll wait. Yep, we are going to be in the "Big Guy's" Suite!!

Oh man, oh man, oh man. I don't think there is an emotican that even comes close to resembling the smile on my face right now!!! Actually I am surprised that I have been able to contain myself I am not jumping up and down, scraming, yelling or even giving the old Texas Yee-haa shout. Gotta keep it to myself can't tell the kids, DH says he doesn't want to know. Thankfully I have you guys, you can keep a secret? Right?

Hi :earsgirl: I just posted this over on the "Useful Concierge Information" thread. However, there are some LL who are thinking of or planning a trip to the Polynesian CL for this fall. As you all know I was worried about the Poly's refurbishment plans. I sent an e-mail, it took them a little while to answer, but here is the reply. We were scheduled for September 24 - 30.

Aloha!

At this time our concierge building is scheduled for refurbishment during your stay, however that is subject to change on a daily basis. As the refurbishment is still several months away, we are still exploring what options are open to us in order to best serve our guests.
At this time we do not have specific plans in place as we are unsure of exactly what will need to be done, however, rest assured that any plans e have will have minimal effect on you our guest.
I wish that I could give you more information, however at this time it is just not available as things are changing on a daily basis.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions and we will be more than happy to update you as we know more information.

I really want to send Kudo's to Polynesian Planning as they could have kept this to themselves and just moved everyone around at arrival. This was a great Disney way to take care of their guests. We have already cancelled our visit at the Poly, partly because of the rehab. but also the AP rate the GF for RPC was better then the standard Poly CL rate. I hope this helps anyone planning a stay this fall in the Hawaii Longhouse.

Minniesota - We will be in Minn/St.Paul, Rhinelander and somewhere down south for our sons military base. Our DD and SIL live in Rhinelander.

Well, I am off. I will check in if a computer and time presents itself.
Have a great week end. :wave2:

Woo Hoo! Now THAT’S a stateroom! You’re going to have a blast in there! :cool1:

Spectrum-Turbo, NICE!!!! What an incredible MIL you have. You are going to love it and wish you had more time on the ship.

WOW!
What a treat. Now that you have teased us all, You MUST, You MUST give us the details after your trip on what it was like.

In the mean time, guess you still have to do a bit more digging to uncover the truth about the GF portion of the trip. Happy hunting.

Well, the TA messed up and CC'd me on an email to my MIL about the ressie and I now know that we are in a 2 bedroom suite at the GF. (I think this calls for another :earseek: )

From reading descriptions of the suites I think that we are in a:
B2 –has 2 bedrooms, one with a king and one with 2 queen beds. It has a sitting area, 2 ½ baths, a wet bar and 3 balconies. It is located in the main building and sleeps 6. 1082 sq. ft.

Anyone know where I can find a floor plan for this?

I will keep notes on the trip and I promise to send out a trip report when we return.

My MIL ROCKS!!!!

I've only seen a few suite floorplans, but none seem to fit the description that you gave. This site, GF, has some really nice pictures of the grounds and the main building concierge lounge. Now that you have the reservation information, perhaps you could contact the pre-planning department, wdwgfplanning@disney.com and have some surprises waiting for your MIL as a thank you. She does totally rock.

Just stopping in for a quick "hello" and to leave out breakfast treats - pineapple bread, fresh fruit and plenty of Kona coffee. Someday I hope to be caught up with everything and able to hang out again, hopefully before my Aug. WDW trip! Until then I'll keep lurking to get my daily fix of Disney dreams!

Hello to my fellow Lizard Loungers! I feel like a complete heel. . .I haven't posted in weeks! I have been lurking, though, but things have been a little hectic around here. You're all in my thoughts, though! I'm hoping to catch up on ALL the posts I've missed after I get caught up on real life. LOL Spectrum--I did read your posts though, and can I just say that I want to be your sister or sister-in-law, please? :rotfl:

So now I have my own news to share. . .I'll probably not be riding too many rides when I finally get to Disney in October. Why??? Because I'll be about 5 months pregnant! :Pinkbounc  Yippee!! Now I'm even MORE glad that I booked a first class flight AND conceirge at the GF. I can't wait to be pampered by the staff there. Woo hoo!!

I'm hoping the walking and the potential heat won't be too tough on me, but Im going to go scour the "Disney for Families" thread to get all the scoop on being pregnant at Disney. Regardless, I know the trip will be wonderful. I'm so excited!!! I'm only EIGHT days from doing the double digit dance!!!

Hugs to all and hope everyone is well. Can someone put out some decaf for me, please? ;)

Stephanie, congratulations on your little one on the way!!!!! princess: :groom: Wonderful news! I think some pampering is the perfect thing for you. I hope your pregnancy is smooth as well.

spectrum-turbo goodness gracious! Your MIL knows how to book some incredible accommodations! Enjoy your suites, you lucky duck!

OHHH Congrats Steph! This concierge trip will be just what you need for a no hassle vacation! I'm happy for you!

Spectrum Turbo>> I agree with Steph and saying that I'd like to be a family member, also! :) Your plans sound spectacular!

My MIL knows how to plan a party. :cool1: From the beginning, she has said that she wants this to be trip that my boys (4 & 7) will remember, I think she has got that covered!!

I got the boys matching Mickey Mouse Hawiian shirts/shorts/flip-flops to wear when we board the ship. I thought that they would be cute for the picture when we board. I hope that the photographer will take one of just them in addition to a group shot. The lady at the Disney Store was trying to get me to outfit the whole family, I had to inform her that DH wouldn't be caught dead in matching outfits...even for his own mother!

Speaking of my DH, he got wind that I know the details of the trip and I think that he is a little upset that per his request, I won't tell him the details. I did inform him he will be pleased with our accomodations. :teeth:

Tami-- Yeah, I will have to figure something out for my MIL. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't have a creative bone in my body so, I wouldn't even know what to ask for when I contact pre-planning.

Steph-- Congrats on the great news. I thought that your screen name looked familiar (You started a thread about FMT and a 3 1/2 year that I read)and I looked at a few of your previous posts and realized that we are going to be at GF at the same time.

Big room wave to all!

Celebrating with Steph H on her happy news and spectrum-turbo on her phenomenal good fortune! :cool1: :cheer2:

Have sent DH off to have prints made from the digital shots we took of DD14, dressed to impress for her 8th grade semi-formal which is happening as we speak. I'm totally biased of course but what an incredible princess: moment this has been! I took her (along with her best GF since first grade) to do the "party hair" thing. I was so worried that might turn out disastrous (you NEVER know about 14 yr old girls and their hair) but they were absolutely delighted! Add a gorgeous dress, earrings, shoes, a touch of make-up and all that exuberance of youth and well... let's just say they barely noticed the weather (which at this point is drizzly with a dose of thunder and lightening thrown in)!

School ends (FINALLY) next Wednesday but it will be one thing after another till that point (and probably beyond). Awards Night was Tuesday; we've done Spring Chorus and Band concerts, Science Fair; still have dance recital weekend and closing Scouting events. DD14 has made the varsity cheering squad and has a spot as a dancer in the high school musical production which will begin rehearsing this summer, so I'm thinking our summer evenings will be a bit busier than usual.

Have yet to firm plans for family vacation. What am I waiting for??? :earseek: :sad2:

GoofysMuse, did your DD go with a date or group? Groups are so much better. My 19 year old DD still hangs out with her group from high school and DS15 has gone to a number of dance events this year, but only as friends and usually together with a group. I hope she has a magical evening.

When exactly are you going to fit in a family vacation? I told you that we are using the Lake Placid dance competition as our vacation this year. We're heading up to Vermont next weekend for another ice skating competition, so there's another mini family vacation. It's a good thing we all love this sport.

Congrats to your DD for making the varisty Cheerleading team. That's a huge accomplishment. Sounds like she is getting right into her new school.

My youngest DD is out of school on Monday, after her school "American Idol" competition. At 8 years old she has made it into the finals and there's been no living with her. The school district I work at has school until next Friday. I've been out almost all this week though as I tore some ligaments in my ankle and have been hobbling around in an air cast. Not much fun and I'm bored to tears. Oh well, hopefully I'll be back tomorrow and can finish out next week.

By the way, Goofy's can you send some warm air to the coast. We went from 90 degrees the other day to barely getting to 60. This has been some wacky weather.

Tammi

Good evening to all!

I can't believe some of your kids are still in school. I think the teachers in our district had to practically sit on the kids our last week (they were released the 9th!). DD made it through all the "last times" of 8th grade and while most of her friends cried their eyes out over her departure to a private high school in the fall, she handled it with much grace. She has already started dance line practice (she will also be dancing varsity in the fall) and her studio nationals are next weekend. Then I can relax!

DS11 is at an immersion Norwegian camp for the week and it's very quiet at home without him. No one in our family is Norwegian so we were quite surprised when he chose that particular language. He said he likes Norse mythology and the whole Viking thing. ANd he fiigured if he went to Spanish camp, he'd have to do the tango and the salsa! I hope he's surviving - it's all Norwegian food as well!

My sister and I were busy plotting our Oct. trip over a glass of wine tonight. So far we have spa appointments and the F&W Festival on the agenda. We are also planning to eat at the California Grill this time. ANd we might just order in room service on our GF balcony after our spa appointments. We plan to do a lot of lounging and wining!!

Steph and spectrum-turbo - I think we will all be at the GF at the same time. We are there Oct. 1 -6. Congrats to both of you on your respective exciting news!

I think I'll leave some goodies out tonight - miniature meringue cups with fresh raspberries, dark chocolates and some pinot noir. Enjoy!!
