The New Lizard Lounge

Today is my birthday... my class was extra good to me... but I came home to an even bigger surprise! DS gets home about 2.5 hours before I do and had cleaned up his "stuff" (yes, that should be surprise enough!) and.. wanted me to go upstairs. I go to my bedroom and the bed is perfectly made and the down comforter is perfectly folded at the end on top of the down blanket. My Disney collection of plush are all lined up on the pillows... and.. get this....

I GOT TURN DOWN SERVICE! :) A chocolate and one of our old African proverb cards was on the bed and it was a pretty good turn down/turn back job!

Well, it just doesn't get better than that, eh? I feel loved!

Debbie

PS He says he was going to try to make some towel ducks, but didn't think he could manage it!

Debbie... Your post made me smile... What a wonderful son you've got there! ::yes:: Hope you have a very Happy Birthday! :cake: You'll soon be taking a break from that great new vehicle to enjoy your trip... how awesome is that!

Spent a very different weekend than the one I'd envisioned, Lizards, but it certainly made me glad I took the December trip I'd waffled over for so long. My mom who had been unwell (though not critically ill) for several years passed away last Thursday afternoon. Over the past several days I've realized that some of my best family memories are vacation memories, so everyone, enjoy your planning as well as your trips. Life is so very short!

OH Goofy's Muse I am so sorry for the great loss you have suffered. :guilty: :( :worried: My thoughts are with you...

Debbie What a sweet, sweet boy you have. You have "raised [him] right"! Happy Birthday to you! :bday: :wizard:

Goofy's Muse makes a good point about family vacations and memories...
Take care everyone :flower3:

Oh, Goofy'sMuse, I am so sorry for your loss. Lots of :grouphug: to you, my dear. You are so right - we need to really be in the moment and enjoy what we have.

Debbie, your son is a gem! You have obviously raised him well.

DH still hasn't finalized his list of "no-travel" days and I am getting increasingly antsy. I don't know why I feel the need to go back so badly, but the desire is strong. I just might be planning my first solo trip to WDW!

Goofy'smuse>> I am so sorry to hear the bad news about your mother. You are so right about family time, though. I just was telling another hockey family who is "waiting until their youngest is old enough to enjoy Disney World" to just GO! Mine don't remember the first time, but WE do. I will always remember the look on their faces, the joy in their eyes, and especially looking across at DH who had tears in his eyes while watching them. Memories live forever, as your mom will in your heart.

Donna>> I swear the more I go, the more I need to go! It is like an instant refresher to me to be down there in the magic! I can do anything once I get back!

Dinner was lovely, with all of us at the same table at the same time! A rarity indeed!

eight days eight days eight days! Congrats on the BWI conciege WITH DISCOUNT! Just getting through to them is congrats enough! :)

Happy Tuesday!
Debbie

[/B] Goofy's Muse- I am so very sorry about the loss of your mother. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. You are such an inspiration to care and think about others during this difficult time.

Debbie - Happy Birthday :cake: How thoughtful of your son to make your day extra special in that way. You have obviously done an excellent job with your children that he is so considerate. Now you just have to wait for 8 more wake-ups and you will be seeing our little Ankole baby  I hope you have a wonderful time. I am sure Don and all will do many special things for you.

Donna - Maybe we should go together :D I am not sure I'm going to make it to May for our next trip. DH keeps talking about all the places we want to go this year and he just doesn't see how we can go to WDW in May and November. :earseek: Oh, Anniedonna made some very special memories for her nephew. :cheer2: Sounds like you have a wonderful family, how fun to do a whole family WDW trip.

Johnsonet- Hi! I have missed you. Hope everything is going along good for you. How was your WDW trip? Do you have any wonderful new pictures to share?

Everyone take care and stay safe :grouphug:

Goofy's Muse My condolences to you and your family. My prayers and PD are with you at this painful time.

Happy Belated Birthday #1HockeyMom :cake: :flower2: :bday: - It wouldn't have been belated but I had a difficult time tracking y'all down and then catching up on the posts.

I'll be brief (for once) in my update: I haven't had the knkee replacement surgery yet. It got postponed as I picked up a lovely case of food poisoning. So it got scrubbed. My new date is Feb 16th. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait to get it over with! I'm getting a new type of knee, quasi-experimental (but I still have to pay for it). Still I am rather scared and nervous but I don't want to think about it right now.

My thoughts right now are with those who are at WDW and hoping they are having LOTS of fun and good times. Needless to say, I will NOT be at the May meet - I'll be lucky if I can drive by then. I'm "shooting" for Halloween at BWI - it's my favorite holiday and maybe I'll have the opp to meet a few of you then.

I'm in process of networking my laptop to receive the satellite signal in my den which is where I'll be sleeping for the 6 weeks post surgery - so I don't have to climb stairs. Just in case my eyesite's a little strained, OI'll be pulling the signal thru my 42" plasma TV. So hopefully I can keep in touch with y'all.

BTW, it was 82º today and 75º yesterday - what's with the weather?

Can someone PM me with the other "address" where we also chat - I lost it.

Big wave from the Disney Magic. It's only been one day, but so romantic and very pampered. We had a nice DIS meet yesterday as the ship got under way. Lots of great folks on board. The weather is beautiful.

Debbie, Happy belated birthday.

Goofy'sMuse, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's been 8 years since I lost my mom, but I still feel her around me. I couldn't agree more with your statement about vacation memories. We didn't have much money when I was growing up, but we never missed out on our yearly family vacation. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Take care everyone,
Tammi

Goofy'sMuse - May your tears dry soon and your heart mend a little each day. Your memories will hold you for a lifetime. God bless you and your family.

Debbie - Happy birthday and can I introduce your son to my daughter?

TammiMccMan - I am so jealous! You have a fabulous cruise and I want details, girl!

mmausse - Great to hear from you again - I hops Feb. 16 comes really quickly!

Goofy's Muse: sorry about your loss. My mother has been gone 20 years and not a day goes by that I don't think about her. Treasure the memories. For us after our daughter passed away it has been very important for us to make memories for our DGS that we were unable to do for our children at his age.
Debbie: Belated Happy Birthday! :cake: Your son sounds like a gem!
It is turning into a real mess outside here. Ice,sleet and snow. Our power was off for about 3 hrs this morning. It was a bad reminder of the ice storm here 3 yrs ago. Our power was off for 7 days then. I still do not think I have warmed up for that!
Best Wishes to all in need!

Well, DH has just been "too busy" to figure out when he can/can't travel, so he said to just book something and we'd deal with it later. So I did! And...I got the dates I wanted (Jan. 29-Feb. 2), Poly LVC, with the passholders rate! Woo hoo! - I think that's an indication this trip was meant to be. Better get the suitcases out, Angel16 - I might be PMing you if DH bails! Actually, I know that once he relaxes about this installation coming up in Feb. he will realize that the architect/contractor/construction crew will be so far behind by the end of the month, they won't be ready for him until the end of next month. He's been very stressed - dumped right from the holiday lull into a super-busy month, followed by a huge project in the coming months. Sounds like a guy who could use a nice stay at the Poly, hmmm?

Hi everyone, remember me? Boy did I have a heck of a time finding you guys! Things have been so busy in my life, I have been away for months, but I have missed you all.
I need to set up a new counter, we are headed back to the Poly concierge December 16-23rd. It seems like such a long way off, but we are expanding our business, and unfortunately we need to be around for the building process.
Fill me in, is everyone still around and how did we end up on the CB?

Welcome back, goodferry! Nice to see you again. A lot has happened with our thread. I will PM you soon and fill you in, if someone hasn't already done so. Hope the business is going strong. DH & I can empathize with how all-consuming start-ups (and "keep-goings," for that matter!) can be. Hope you have the chance to catch up and take a breather with us.

Thanks for the welcome home! I have missed hearing about all the fabulous vacations that have come and gone while I was away. What happened to my Tink that BT gave me? The boards look so different, they look great.
I am in the process of helping some friends who are planning a trip in May, they were inspired by our trip and want to stay concierge, but there are 10 of them :earseek: so they are looking at a small fortune just for a room!!!

Welcome back, goodferry! I think I was more in lurking mode than posting mode when you were planning your last trip, but it did inspire Goofy and me to think about planning a "surprise trip" for our own three kids this holiday season.

Yes, the lounge has "morphed" over time but I am ever grateful that so many caring folks still check in here once in a while. So thank you johnsonet, steveanddonna, #1hockeymom, Angel16, mmausse, TammiMcMan, minniesota, nrsldy and anyone I've missed for your kind thoughts. :grouphug:

Tammi, I'd begun reading your December trip report and am looking forward to getting back to it. I never realized just how far you took your surprise! I will eagerly await your romantic cruise report as well. You should know that you are missing the very best kind of New England day -- snow, sleet, freezing rain -- which should make the trip ever more sweet!

Hi Lounge Lizards,

This is only my second post on the boards so bear with me.

I am staying at AKL conceirge in February :cheer2: Needless to say am I excited.

I booked the Sunrise Safari for the whole family. Has anyone gone and do you think my one year old will enjoy it. CM talked me into to booking this for the whole family. I was originally going to go with my daughter (8) and leave my little one (1) with dad at the resort.

Any comments would be great.

Thanks all

WELCOME to the lounge stitchesmom! #1hockeymom is the resident AKL expert, but plenty of others here have stayed there as well. I'm sure someone will be along soon to answer your ???. In the meantime, enjoy the lounge!

Thanks SteveandDonna

This board is so much fun. I can't wait for a reply. I am really looking forward to conceirge at the AKL. We are really splurging this trip but it's been a while since we have stayed on WDW property and are really going to enjoy the resort and all it has to offer.

Thanks for the welcome
:D

Hi stitchesmom. You will LOVE AKL CL. I just got back from my second stay there. In Oct. 2003 we went and did the Sunrise Safari (my parents, DD age 7 and me). It was wonderful and is a "must do".
Your husband would love it so it would be a shame for him to miss it but IMO your 1-y-old won't get anything much out of it. Plus, having your hands and eyes free to take in everything (sights and FOOD afterwards ;) ) would be much more enjoyable for you! PERSONALLY, I would take your daughter and leave your little one with Dad...
