We just got back last night, and got to ride the less intense version of Mission Space while we were there.

We LOVED it!! I was sooo pleased! DD still likes the more intense better, but DH, DS, and myself all prefer this one. DH said it didn't make his chest hurt like the last one, and I didn't feel motion sick at all this time!

I was expecting it to maybe be a little boring, but it was not AT ALL! It was still lots of fun, and we were VERY pleased with Disney's choice to do this, and the way they pulled it off! :thumbsup2

As we entered the line, everyone had to choose more intense or less intense, and was given a slip of paper with their choice on it, and then directed into the appropriate line. On the paper it had information about your choice, as well as warnings, etc. Once inside you hand the CM your paper before boarding...much like fastpass.

I thought it was all very well laid out, and would take away any fears of winding up in the "wrong" one.

Now for the first time, I'm looking forward to doing M:S again!

Oh, and the line was 10min. for less intense, and 20 min. for more intense.
Even though it said 10 min. though, we walked straight on!

When did they start this? I didn't notice it when I was there on 5/5, but that was my first time riding and I had a fast pass that my husband picked up so I really didn't get a chance to pay attention to anything before the ride... I'm wondering if I may have gone on the less intense because I was expecting more from all the reviews on here :confused3

I'm glad to see such positive review for the less intense version. I loved the intense version, and don't want to see such a well designed attraction go by the wayside. Plus, it gives me hope that Disney will clone M:S and put it in other parks as well. I would love to see M:S in the old America Sings building in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.

I really, really hope they keep this!

I can't wait to try the "less intense" version.

Did you happen to notice any change in the height restriction for the less intense or is it still the same?

I'm not really sure when they started this. All I know is that I was surprised they were doing it when we were there on May 21st. I thought they were not going to start until later in the summer.

I'm sorry I didn't notice if there was change in the height restrictions. I didn't even think to look.

I really hope they keep this as well. It's the ONLY way I can ride it without getting sick, and now it works for EVERYBODY!

Those who want more can have it, and those who want less can enjoy it too! :thumbsup2

They started doing this about 2-3 weeks after the last death on the ride. I am not sure how its less intense maybe those who have ridden it can please describe. And did they change the height requirement?

The 'less intense' version simply does not spin, so you do not pull any Gs. It is basically a motion simulator ride, that tilts and such to match the action on the screen, as oppossed to the more intense sensations created by spinning in a centrifuge.

Sorry, but I do not know if the height restrictions have been altered at all for the new version of MS.

Nobody died ON the ride...

WDW Today's Monday show explained how the Green version worked, and how they can set the 4 centrifuges to work for both versions based on crowd demand. Basically the tamer version doesn't spin and it exaggerates the movements of the car/pod/whatever you want to call it to give a better feeling of the flight without the spinning. It sounded like they could switch between the two versions fairly quickly, the part taking the longest was informing the CM's that a change to a given centrifuge had happened.

Height restrictions remain the same. They're due to the harness, not the spinning.

What are the health warnings on the less intense version? I'm really excited about trying this in September.

Semantics. Two people have died shortly after riding M:S. The fallout from that led directly to the new tamer version.

The new version began testing on May 19th

I never would have considered this ride, but now that they have this less intense version, I'm thinking about it. So, question: Will a claustrophobic person be weirded out by the size of the ride capsules?

Someone posted a picture of the signs and of the little "tickets" that you get to indicate what version you are going to ride. That person indicated that the height requirement remained the same for both versions.

To be honest, I was a little. I was fine until they shut the door, and I had a very brief panic moment, but I kept reminding myself that I felt like that the last time, and I was fine!

They have cold air that blows directly on you, and that helped a lot. Once the ride started I was completly fine. I was having too much fun to be worried about anything else!
