TravelinGal We've not stayed at the GF before but we usually tip $4-5 and a couple of $$ for a turn down service.

DS and DD leave the money tucked into one of the outfits of their Build-a-Bears and Mousekeeping usually arrange the bears in different poses for the kids. This was waiting for us one of the days were at WL with a thank you note tucked into teddy's top :goodvibes

Robyn Congratulations! New babies are always something to look foward too...:goodvibes And enjoy the BC...stayed there recently for the first time and it was very nice...I'm sure you'll have a good trip!

Robin What nicely designed envelopes! I'm not so creative...I just leave the tip out on the night stand...:rotfl:

Catching up...:rotfl: and wanted to add:

LJD Welcome!:) How nice to be at the GF and celebrating your birthday in such a special way...enjoy!!

Constanze Congrats on booking your cabana day!! You are going to love it...:lovestruc

I might need to change my name to FloridianAlex The polynesian looks weak compared to the gf:lmao:

OMG:rotfl2: ....YOU are awesome!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: That is so funny.:rotfl2: You will fit right in here with just about every one....LOL

Welcome to the GF FAQ!!

I'm not sure I understand the lodge question.....there are only rooms in the lodges....each lodge does have a lobby type area though. The main building has all the shops and most of the restaurants and then on floors 3-5 and part of 2 are club level rooms and suites.

The Grand Floridian is wonderful 365 days a year :goodvibes
I personally like May better than the summer because it is cooler and less crowded.

I totally agree!!:thumbsup2 I LOVE going in May...May is BEAUTFUL for weather and crowds...some of our best trips ever have been in May...but now that my kids are older I go in July instead. :rolleyes1 July is fun because the parks are open so late....sometimes MK has EMH til 3 or 4 am.:thumbsup2

laughing hysterically GF Gal:rotfl:

Thanks i have a question The Poly and GF are similar because of there not one big hotel ( Seperate Buildings ) the Grand Floridian Lodges are really big is there something besides rooms in there like the poly:confused3

Welcome to the GF thread.:goodvibes

Yes, I agree that the GF looks more imposing. I think there are a couple of reasons.

The lodges have five floors while the longhouses have either two or three.

The white color alone stands out more visually.

And the main building at the GF is much larger than the GCH I think. It houses 4 TS restaurants instead of two, a beauty salon and more shops. In addition, the main receiving area for the GF appears to be located in the main building. At the Polynesian, I think a lot of receiving is done in a separate building that houses Tangaroa Terrace.

I think the GF is meant to be impressive while the Polynesian is supposed to represent a tropical paradise. Both resorts achieve that aim IMO.:worship: Imagineers at work!:wizard:

someone said there is a mini lobby in each lodge

Hi Alex...Yes there is a lobby in each outer lodge building...there are some chairs... its very open and airy...in the SL building the lobby is where the concierge lounge is located...

Yes, and they are much larger than the little lobby areas in the newer longhouses at the Polynesian.

And I meant to post that there are also many rooms and suites in the main building at the GF which adds to the imposing size of that building.

Those are FANTABULOUS!!!!!
I bet those get you some towel animals :thumbsup2

May I ask how you make them?

Thanks - I design them in Adobe Photoshop Elements and then printed them out. Some of the designs were modified from existing t-shirt designs I had made in the past.

is 4,200 a good deal for may 2010 for 8 nights with tickets and hotel not airfare?

Hmmm...did you get any type of discount?? I have a friend that is a travel agent....she would be able to get you a better deal if there are any discounts out there - she would know...I don't know if that $4200 is good or not really....how many people?? What type of tickets??

GF Gal all the way:goodvibes
