Goobergirl Your DD first Disney trip...how special! Have a wonderful time...:)

HI All,
First off I just took 2 days to read all the post, very informative. thanks to all that post.
My question is I just booked last night a tpv room using the 40 % code I received thru an email and I found that a few of you always stay cl or take a gv
room as opposed to a tpv room. SHould I for any reason go back to a gv and save some money or take the tpv room for our 1st visit to Disney with our 7 year old daughter.. If I should stay in the TPV room is there any location that I can try to request?
Thanks in advance for all your help, oh we will be going Nov 19th to the 24th so I think the xmas decorations will be up is that correct?

Congrats on getting the code. All of the views at the Grand are very pretty, except for the infamous Sago view of the dumpster. To me it isn't worth it to pay extra for a view, especially at the GF. How much time are you going to be in your room looking out of the window, or sitting on your balcony? Many people think it is worth the extra for the view, so only you can decide. I would save the money on the view and use it to book character meals or buy souvenirs. Since it is your DD's first trip, I am sure there are a lot of things she will want to buy. Disney has lots of ways to empty your wallet.:rotfl2:

Hi, Maxie answered your view question.:) The GV rooms at the GF are lovely. I had a standard concierge view at YC this summer and it was nasty...but it was an upgrade so I couldn't complain;) ...but I really missed not being able to sit on the balcony and people watch or at least see something PRETTY.:) The GVs at the GF are PRETTY.:goodvibes They are either of the marina from Conch or Sago, or courtyard pool views from the other lodges. The GF's idea of TPV is wide range....it doesn't mean you will have a clear view of the castle. However if you request Sago and get it...you might have that direct castle view...and that is beautiful. I am one that wouldn't bother with the TPV or LV category at the GF. If concierge wasn't in the plans...it would be GV for me. :thumbsup2

As far as the decorations...the gingerbread house will be up but the full Xmas decorations go up the day after THanksgiving. I am not sure when Thanksgiving is.....

Happy planning!!:goodvibes

dmmerc Welcome! This is a great place to learn lots about the GF...and to share the excitement of your upcoming trip...I have to say I am a GV fan also...the views of the grounds or marina are just beautiful! But I have read posts about how much people have enjoyed looking out of their rooms with the view of the castle...fireworks..EWP etc...I guess its just a matter of opinion....

Enjoy your planning...I'm sure it will be a wonderful trip!

If I book a club level standard room in the main building, will there be a daybed in the room guaranteed? or is it luck of the draw?
Thanks

How long does it take to get to MK on boat from launch and how long on monorail?

It takes alot less time to get FROM the MK to the GF by the boat. The loop is from the MK to the GF to the Poly and back to the MK. So if you want to get from the GF to the MK it may take up to about 20 minutes depending on how long the boat stays at the other docks.

If you take the Monorail, the MK is the very next stop. Of course you need to make your way up to the Monorail station so allow time for that...

dmmerc - :welcome: Only you can answer whether the extra money spent on a TPV vs. GV is worth it to you. I will say that, when my DD was young, it was very magical for her to see the castle lit up at night while she got ready for bed. For me, that was worth the extra cost! For a very first visit, I'd consider the TPV, if it is in your budget.

There are very good castle views from either the Sago Cay or Conch Key buildings, you can request those for a better chance at a perfect castle view. You could also mention on your reservation that this is your daughter's first visit to WDW, it couldn't hurt!

SuperDisneyWorldDad - I can't say definitively what the times are for monorail vs. boat. That all depends on whether the boat captain waits a few moments at each dock, whether the monorail has to pause for traffic to clear at the MK, etc. But I will say, we usually take the monorail to the MK, the boat from the MK - that seems the quickest, and most enjoyable travel to us.

mhanback - I'm not sure if there are any standard rooms in the main building without daybeds. The rooms that are without daybeds in the outer lodges are the dormer rooms, which are on the top floor; the top floor of the main building has the suites, so I don't think there are any standard dormer rooms. Oddly, the deluxe rooms in the main building do not have daybeds, so it's possible there are standard rooms that do not. Someone here who has better info will probably be along to answer your question more accurately! ;)

Good luck to everyone, and have a wonderful trip! :sunny:

i never understood why the DELUXE rooms only sleep 4 ppl. you would think it would be the one that sleeps more!

I agree, there is plenty of room in there for another bed, much less a daybed, lol. We had to practically shout to be heard across the room from one another!

H2O products in GV rooms... What does it include?

I'm guessing seperate shampoo and conditioner, but then what else is standard?

And are there other items we can request (mouthwash/sun relieif gel etc)?

Hi All, Thanks so much for all your help, I am thinking of making my 5th call back to them to get the price of the GV room, Does anyone know do I make the request now for which bldg or is that as I get closer to the date?
club level standard Gv room would that even be more than the TPV room?
I only ask because I don't always have 45 mins or more to spend on the phone with the reps from disney.
remember I am a 1st timer so I am totally not up on which rooms are more than others.
also if i go GV not club level which was the favorite bldg to request?

dmmerc There are two places that have CL rooms.. Sugar Loaf which is outer lodge CL and in the main building which is called Royal Palm Club and has a few different room types as well as suites...

SL has GV CL only...(this does include marina view which is considered GV at the GF)..this building offers CL services and ammenities but is less cost than CL in RPC...

The least expensive room category is GV which can be in any of the other outer lodge buildings...the GV really are beautiful..

If you take a look at the map at the beginning of this thread you will see how all of the buildings are situated...everything is pretty centrally located..

Our favorite GV is Boca Chica...it over looks the court yard and the court yard pool also the main building which is beautiful and especially so at night...

Hope all of this helps a little!!:)

Also Alicnwndrln has posted alot of great info at the beginning of this thread...pictures too...

Happy planning:flower3:

Thanks

We stayed in 4317, RPC main building, for the first part of our trip after Christmas, and this room did not have a daybed.

Have fun on your trip!

Marci, really!?!?! Wow....I thought all along that all the standard RPC rooms have daybeds....learn something new every day.;) That room, 4317, wasn't deluxe?

Was it smaller than a standard?? What was there in place of the daybed??

PS..cute siggie pic. :)

No -- it was a regular room. I'm not sure what happened to the daybed, as I expected it to have one. Maybe it needed to be replaced? We were only in it a few days before they moved us to another room. I'll try to post some pics later.
