The *New* Grand Floridian Resort and Spa FAQ thread (NOV 2008)

Hello All!

Thank you for the beautiful pictures and the good information about the Grand Floridian. We will be leaving in 10 days for a week-long 50th wedding anniversary celebration for my in-laws. There will be 8 of us staying in 4 rooms and we do have theme park view reservations.

We are planning on requesting specific rooms that have the best theme-park views. Any ideas of exact room numbers that we could request; rooms that have great views and will not be blocked by trees? Should we go for a lagoon view room instead? We understand that this is not a guarantee, but rather a hope!

Thanks for your help.
Ann

Just wanted to give all you Grand fans a heads up on the 4/3 offer. Don't give up if you get told your dates are sold out. Saturday I tried booking and the website said the Grand was sold out , I called and was told the same thing. Today I checked the website again for the heck of it and had my choice of EVERY room category at the Grand!!!! I'm proud to say that I was able to book a Deluxe King room in the main building for a week in May WITH the 4/3 offer!!! Royal Palm club here I come :cheer2:

Hi all!
I just booked a lodge tower room for this weekend (pinch me, am I dreaming?) Was wondering if anyone had any pics they could share--or insight into what views these rooms might have.
Thanks! :)
Lodge Tower rooms pretty much all look over the original pool area , except for Sago Cay which overlooks the marina.
Take note - 5th floor Lodge Tower rooms DO NOT have a balcony.

Thanks for the info, but I'm a bit confused. What is classified as a lodge tower room?

Lodge tower rooms include all of the features of a standard room , but , they also have a separate sitting area, with additional furniture, TV and phone. Lodge tower rooms have to be booked specifically.

Thanks for your help everyone! Looking forward to it. I will try to post some pics when I get back.

Do all the MKV rooms in Conch and Sago have balconies?

All standard rooms have balconies.

Lodge Tower Rooms are a category that can be booked. These are the rooms in the turrets in each lodge. They sleep 4 with two queen beds...have a sitting area in the turret with a 2nd tv. The top floor Lodge Tower Rooms have high ceilings and are very charming but do not have a balcony.

When you book a Lodge Tower Room you might end up with a room w/out a balcony. When you book a standard room - any view - you will have a balcony or patio.

You can see pics of the various rooms on the first few pages of this thread......also page 42 #617 is specifically a LODGE TOWER ROOM.

Lodge Tower Rooms have garden views.

Hi Channing - are you getting excited for your trip?

I can't believe our days are overlapping again! We're arriving on Feb. 10, are you still leaving on the 9th?

Oh well - maybe we'll finally meet us in June!

I'm so excited...just got an email from our AAA travel agent....
our Disney Documents are in and I can pick them up!
Yippee!
With all this snow in New England, I can't wait to get to GF!
Bobbi ;)

Thanks for the help everyone. We'll be making our first GF stay in 50 days. Can't wait. I hope it is everything we wished for, and based on this thread I bet it will be.

My DS(20mo) is going to go through the rough with excitement. He's never been to WDW but he loves Pooh and Cars and loves to travel and experience new things. He has no idea what he's in for. He might not sleep the entire week we're there.

I can't wait unti we go!!! This will be my dmil first trip to disney(or anywhere for that matter) I can't wait to see her face. I had to share. We are also not telling the kids until the night before. It's killing me. We walk around talking about it and say"when we go back in two years:rolleyes1 ". I feel like I am going to burst with excitment!!!!

Can anyone advise me what the room numbers are for standard rooms in the main building? :)

The rooms in the main building are all either club level rooms or suites. There aren't any just standard rooms....so if you book a "standard club level room" you will be in the main building.:thumbsup2 They are all pricier than the standard GV or LV or TPV rooms.

Hi All,

Sorry if this is a repeat question. I tried to search the forum but no luck.
Does GF charge for parking for resort guests? If so, how much?

We're planning to drive to FL this time. I read some bad reviews on tripadvisor about the valet parking sub-contractor for the contemporary. Any thoughts about the valet service at GF?

Thanks!

i was in a standard RPC room in sept. that was 4128 I think

Heatherlynn....it's club level though.....I thought the PP meant just plain STANDARD....:confused3

The only standard rooms in the main building are club level...i guess the word standard is causing confusion. For me anyway.:rotfl:
