You weren't disrespectful, typhoonlagooner, at least not in my opinion. Just asking a question, and we all have done that here. And gotten lots of great help too!
Channing, do I understand that part of your stay will be at the GF?
(and if your home is in a similar style to the WL, all I can say is WOW!!)

I am such a BAD BAD mother :rotfl:

My son won the Geography Bee for our parish (county) today!
tomorrow he has to take a multi choice test to make it to the state competition..... well I wigged out on him :rotfl: :rotfl:
I ran to the computer just knowing the state competition would be when we were at the GF :rotfl: :rotfl: I would have to cancel our trip for his BEE :lmao: :lmao:

NOOOO joy... noooo being all proud and happy.... my first thought was Crap I bet this ruins our trip :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Luckily the competition is April 5 so we are SAFE and I was allowed to be the good mom and be proud of my son!!!

How pitiful was that?!?! I need the bad mom of the year award!!!!!

I am right there with ya. DD11 has a band competitiion and she was telling me it's in something like 11 or 12 weeks....right away I was counting and HOPING NOOOOoooooooooooo not during our trip! :headache: (We are ditching a couple days prior to our actual break - Oops...I bet I get another bad mom award for that one!;) )

I think we're oK so far, but I don't know the date yet.:scared: It is a requirement so that kind of stinks.

Hey there!
Re: the above poster's question, and my comment...I read it to mean that SOME people think that those who stay at the GF are snobs. We've seen a thread about this before, where some people think there's an "I'm better than you" attitude if you're staying there. I don't feel that way at all, and find a very welcoming feeling chatting with those of you here who love the GF. (hope I've explained myself well)
I really did enjoy the warm and welcome feelings I got a the WL. That huge lobby is amazingly cozy, and I loved going down there for my coffee in the early morning, while it was quiet. Must have something to do with the fact that I like to visit out west...places like Jackson, Wy. Part of the reason I like the WL, too, is that everything is in one building. And the boatride over to MK is fun, and relaxing..

Well, all I know is that the queue for the GF bus is always a lot shorter than the others... ;)

::: dusting off the seat next to me::: well at least I am in good company on the bad mom bench :rotfl:

Thats great about your daughter. My oldest son played sax for a while but ditched it soon after. My DH played sax both in highschool and college and still plays whenever he gets the chance. Actually while I am sitting here typing he is teaching our middle son how to play guitar as my middle son is has a wonderful ear for music.

I figured only you gals would understand ... kids vs GF trip... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hello,

I'd like to book a stay at the GF for a couple nights in July, pre-cruise, I was just going to book a standard view. Is there a building that they usually give you when you book a standard view? I wanted to be near Gasparilla Grille so that my husband and I could go get breakfast for our teenagers in the mornings while they are still in bed. Also has Disney updated all the rooms at the GF? :)

Congrats to your son! That's just awesome. :cheer2: Good luck to him in the State Comp.

About you taking the "bad mom" of the year award, ahem, you'll have to beat me for it!
Here's my list:
I made DS miss his HS Christmas Band Concert. :sad2:
I made DD miss her Christmas Band Concert (with solo). :headache:
I made DS miss his very first HS Winter Banquet. :guilty:
I made DD miss going to the Pop Warner tournament at WDW. Her team placed to go, but I already had my ressies made. :confused3

I think I win. :rolleyes1

:confused3 I just thought it meant she has been envious of the GF guests. What's wrong with that?:confused3 The GF is awesome. When we go to WDW in March and are staying at the Swan - believe me - I will be longing to be in the GF bus lines...and be one of those guests.:rotfl: ;) I don't think there was any bad intent in that comment.:flower3:

Did I miss something here? You're going to WDW and not staying at the GF?? On the plus side, we loved being so close to Epcot and MGM when we stayed at BWI. It was so convinient, and there was always something for the kids to do.

I'm so sad. I keep looking at all our pictures and wishing I could be planning another trip back. I just made our ressies at the GCH at DL for our next Dec. trip -- but my heart just isn't in it. :sad1:

Has anyone participated in a Couples Massage at the Spa? He brought the idea up but I'm not at all familiar with any of the Spa offerings. And on a more personal side note... do you have to get fully *cough* exposed *cough* for that kind of thing? :o[/QUOTE]

My husband and I did the instructional massage during our honeymoon... it was well worth it.... he still remembers some of what he learned 6 years ago  You do take off all your clothes, but if you are really uncomfortable then you can leave things on if need be... You are completely covered the whole time so you feel very comfortable. Also, after the massage don't plan on doing much.... you will feel like a very relaxed wet noodle

Go Patriots!!!!!:yay:

I am most likely going to have to eek in a few nts at the GF. :rolleyes1 My DDs both want to - and geez....they talked me into it.:rotfl: It will be just us girls this time. :goodvibes

I have stayed at the Swan before and now the rooms are newly redone and I have an unbeatable rate.:thumbsup2 We do like the Epcot side but are not overly crazy about any of the WDW hotels except YC in the summer for the pool. The flower and garden show starts during our stay so being in that area will be kind of nice.;)

I am still unsure of paying those hideous GF rates, though. Kind of makes me sick. :guilty: I am considering compromising with SL maybe. We'll see.:confused3

I saw your BWI pics!! Wow, so neat.:wizard: I can't believe your upgrades - twice on one trip, too. :goodvibes

I wasn't implying anything bad with my question about typhoonlagooner's statement on being one of "those" guests! I guess I just wasn't doing well with my reading comprehension and thought there was some kind of "secret" I was missing out on! That's all...

Here's my 'problem'. I currently have the BWI concierge booked for late Jan 2009, I've stayed there before and really liked it.

However, after staying at the GF RPC for the first time December just gone, it was amazing, so luxurious. My next trip is going to be about spending lots of time relaxing around the resort and will just be myself - I'm looking to have spa treatments and shopping, and a little park time.

I am so tempted to switch to the GF RPC but would be interested to know if the resort would be a little quieter than December - it was a zoo in the main building.

Thanks

ClairH47, that is pretty much what I was wondering. MY DH and I want to stay at the GF :lovestruc and this will be our first solo trip without the kiddos. :guilty: After reading how crazy December is in the resort I was also wondering what would be a nice time to go. (sometime after Easter.)

Has anyone seen the new Ipod compatible alarm clocks that have supposedly been installed in the GF? Just curious as to how they are compared to the last alarm clocks which were I think mp3 compatible through a cord to your player.

I used it. It is basically a docking station. Very easy because I am a techno idiot and even I knew right away what to do to get sound. I don't even know if I am answering your question, haha. Sorry. You just stick your ipod on and it either charges or plays. Simple. It sounds pretty nice, too.

I didn't even know the past clocks were mp3 compatible....I thought they were ust CD players.

Oh it sounds so tempting! I was looking to do something on my own at the Spa and send the boy off golfing but he admittd he was too lazy to lug around his clubs  So he's steppin' in on my "spa territory" but that couples massage does sound pretty nice and relaxin... I'm liking "wet noddle" mood. I guess we'll have to plan that into our "pool afternoon".

While I haven't been blessed with kids yet (really enjoying this whole "all about me time" :rolleyes1 ) I'm already trying to "control" as much as possible in regards to my Disney trips. To be fair though, Disney trips came first... so the baby must adjust ;) I've spaced my kids to coincide with low crowd seasons, good ages to go, and to ensure that I'm NOT pregnant while on a trip. DBF thinks I'm "controlling" too much (thanks shirlock) but hey... no harm in a girl trying! He's already seen my spreadsheet with all by park gear, attire, resorts, and strollers picked out :ssst: I think I scared him with that one...

A never realized it growing up, but my Disney trips with my mom have provided me with some of the best memories and more imporantly a love of something I can pass on to my own kids. Yes, I may have missed a game or two, or some special event, but to be honest... when someone asks me "hey what did you do in 1997?" The first thing to comes to mind is my Disney trip to CBR with my mom and our time at the Polynesian Luau and HHDR. Whats even better? Is that even with all the bad things that can happen, our Disney trips are still what we remember most... now thats some magic!

My mom made the right decision, even if it didn't seem it at the time.

*kodak moment over*

Here is a GF coffee question ~

The coffee pots in the room, are the filters the regular fluted circle kind or are they the cone shaped filters?

I want to pack my community coffee. I thought they had them in those small filter/grounds pack but I was at the store and didn't see them.
I am going to have to bring filter and grounds

I know we talked about coffee before but I can't find the post :rotfl:
I am also not sure if we just talked about cofee or the filter type we needed to buy! :confused3
